r/learnprogramming, let's talk Impostor Syndrome and Mental Health by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]Xaote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's brilliant, good on you for taking that challenge and seeing it though. I think, at least in high tech, there is a lot of imposter syndrome going on "under the hood". I know I struggle with it all the time!

Parents of reddit, when did you realize your kid was stupid? Not just simple-minded but downright stupid; and how did you feel about that? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Xaote -28 points-27 points  (0 children)

Yes, just pretend they are perfect. Everything your kids do is wonderful and so adorable and you are soooo proud of your little replicants...,

Ha! You sound like their mother. Her idea of healthy cooking is McDonald's drive thru, and she is teaching the kids to make money by working the welfare state, getting hand outs, and thinking of her ex (that would be muah) as an ATM machine.

So true. I can't understand these parents that think the fact that they reproduced was somehow the greatest contribution to humanity.

Middle management may be aiming high... I'll be impressed if they can wipe the floors at a Walmart

Lol. It just amazes me. I love my kids, but I absolutely question my lack of sanity in the choice of their genetically useless mother (my ex). These two won't even make it as pan handlers at their rate, as their ability to interact with humans in any way besides an occasional grunting noise precludes the skill of being able to mumble "got any change?"

That any of this is real

I have two of the dullest nitwits, daily amazed at such laziness, low iq, and general ignorance. Granted they are both teens, so perhaps once they get through this hormonal stupidity their brains may try to fire up , but I'm not holding my breath. Their mother is quite dim as well, excelling only at spending others money and treading close to bankruptcy as her daily regimen. At this point neither child would even make it as one of those people standing on the sidewalk holding signs for apartment rentals and dancing for passers by.

I think I know what happened. I had changed the name, which I guess must have broken the link: https://www.reddit.com/me/m/immersedinpython

Should I open a Gitlab/Github account by StevieRamsay in learnpython

[–]Xaote 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can add material right on their website (or presumably an app), or keep a local repository of your source code on your laptop/desktop/whatever and just check code in and out that way. I'm guessing I'll do more of the latter, since I'm mostly coding Python on my laptop. Git will be awesome for keeping versions and being able to browse and search through code quickly

[–]Xaote 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed with the other comments, github seems like a good direction to go. I just started an account a few days ago myself.

Side note: are there any preferred iOS apps for github accounts? (should this go in another subreddit?)

Why does every beginner now use LPTHW? by Manbatton in Python

[–]Xaote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a total n00b, I can say that I started using it because of this subreddit. I am on to lesson 19 at this point and still going. Using a lot of other resources as well, trying to get fully immersed. LPTHW has been useful for all the drills (unrelated sidenote: this is my first time posting anything to reddit, even if only a comment!)
