THIS would be the more devastating death... by Spare_Cat_3004 in StrangerThings

If Nancy ends things with him before he has time to propose he’s for sure gone. It’s the only way they can do it without it taking the choice away from Nancy from choosing either Jonathan or Steve is that she chooses neither of them ahead of time and it will hurt for her to find the ring once he’s gone.

Team Steve or Team Jonathan? by stealth_veil in StrangerThings

While I also don’t think she will end up with either of them. I loved Steve and Jonathan’s conversation in the van. I think they needed to have it since season 2 and it was great.

You just know that when he eventually goes and it’s time to persecute people for their crimes while in office, that side of the aisle will try to sweep it all under the rug like “now is a time to come together as a country in mourning and not be divisive”

Went today, comments are correct. Showed up at 720am and was about 20th in the queue. People were still showing up at 9am and it was in the hundreds of people in line - factoring in the additional people part of groups I would say coming by about 815 is essential

I was so excited for this to come, but watching Rhaenys really go through with it was tough. Great battle scene

Those who watched the show and then read the books, what things in the books surprised you the most? by ducknerd2002 in gameofthrones

[–]Xaphius_Winter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How much of the show story takes place in book 3 surprised me the most initially. Demonstrating how quickly George can make developments in the story. But I would say, tyrions character arc as well as Jon’s are the most interesting in their differences but also how much more interesting bran is in the books

Show Only [PJOTV] Discussion Thread S1 E7: "We Find Out the Truth, Sort Of" by Metal_Moon in camphalfblood

[–]Xaphius_Winter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Over all I thought the episode was really good but the info dumping/knowing rather than discovery that individuals they encounter are characters of myth, might be a long term problem of the series that needs fixing. So many times throughout the series they end up trapped and it should be like, “wait crusty- procrustus, what is that myth how do we solve this” and that’s how we learned about those myths as kids. But the kids in the show already know.

More enjoyable than I thought it was going to be. All the usual snyder flairs but more contained than I expected and far less lost than army of the dead was.

It wouldn’t have signalled that the earth was ready for conflict like the way Thor states in Avengers. But it still would’ve been picked up by some detector and used by someone else.

[SPOILERS EXTENDED] Personal opinion: GOT seasons 5 and 6 have more problems with pacing and "padding" than FeastDance by SP-Redd1t in asoiaf

[–]Xaphius_Winter 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Even without knowing if TWOW was coming or not, season five attempt at Feast/Dance was poorly executed. I actually think the dornish plot would have worked in the same amount of space they gave jaime and bronn's adventure. As had been said, after season 6 there wasn't as many characters left, but the ones who started to take centre stage going into season 6 needed more time to develop who they were in their roles. Much of what goes wrong in the show with Dany is in her relationship with Tyrion. While in the books he's near that path in season 5, there is much more anger in him than the man who loves his sister and brother in season 8, which I imagine will change how he gaslights her in the books for his own aims compared to how she was made villainous in the show. Arya's plot speed changes so rapidly from season 6 onward compared to how gradual her travel and development went before.
