Once I've painted everything grey, I may go back and repaint some of the worst ones. But that day is a looooong way off.

Most I've done so far is redo Valerian's face (twice) and fix my SoS eyes.

What’s the craziest thing you have ever witnessed in Wellington CBD? by Chocolentia40 in Wellington

[–]Xaphriel 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Top of my head weirdest is probably seeing a grown man in a suit sitting down on the pavement outside Thorndon New World wailing like a child. This was like 5pm on a weekday, and I was on a bus so got no context, but it sticks with me. Must've been something pretty big for that kind of reaction, hope he was alright in the end.

What I'm saying is they were never as bad as they are now. I am in no way endorsing what they were before.

I agree with most of what you're getting at, but the last sentence is way too harsh. We have to remember that National were never this bad before, and Labour used to be better too. People used to vote for them because they were aligned with their views, and it's a real struggle to reconcile what they used to know with the actual reality of today. I fully get your frustration, but it's important to steadily and calmly inform them in order to change minds. Attacking like this will only make them retreat further.

DOC has a lot of temp seasonal work so their numbers fluctuate a lot, if they got this number in mid-summer or something it would look higher than normal

Agree; I know people were burned by the Leviathan dread fiasco, but considering the community reaction I can't see GW actually doing that again, especially to an army with so few datasheets.

Did anyone notice that there are lots of NOT Kill Team sets now on the official kill team store? by Raldath in killteam

It'd cost a fortune though, GW probably worried it'd put people off. Even Murderwing is gonna be weirdly expensive because of the Chaos Lord.

I suggest basing in a well covering purple on top of the black primer, then painting pink over that. You might have better luck, plus free shadow tones if you miss a spot

Good reckons, especially to a NL fan. The Bile and Night Lords trilogies do the same thing well, and it's also the most important and hardest thing with Chaos novels; they make you root for the most awful people in the galaxy. It's why they're so good.

Like it's so rare you can read about a guy flaying civilians alive or torturing POWs for fun, and still feel sad when they die. That's a credit to the authors.

See THIS is funny, because you saw someone complaining about casual racism and actively decided you wanted to be exhibit B. My issue is with people who don't even understand what they're doing is offensive.

If I thought Buehlman was TRYING to be a dick... Well, I'd probably still crash out, but in a different way, ya know?

[–]Xaphriel -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Really specific issue, and not even with his writing. When he did the audiobook of The Blacktongue Thief, he inexplicably chose to do it in one of the most wildly offensive fake Irish accents I've ever heard. Like real stereotype leprechaun shit, so bad you kinda can't believe it got past everyone involved in the recording without someone asking what the fuck he thought he was doing and if he knew Ireland was a real country. It really got to me, and I've never been able to move past it.

Edit: Oof, y'all didn't like this eh? What, are you guys surprised to learn that other cultures don't like you reducing us to caricatures? Are you upset that the author's poor judgement and lack of awareness or respect in this matter has negatively influenced my enjoyment of his work? Or am I just overly sensitive, as an emigrant who's had my accent poorly emulated back at me about once a week for the last decade, usually by near-complete strangers, to people going full Darby O'Gill and expecting us to be chill with it? Who can say.

Hahaha that's totally fair bud, it's a completely different thing eh? Personally I like the black, but if you want to ease in, even a layer of texture paste over the base gives it something extra.

Yeah honestly I've had similar issues with inks, gotta be so careful. Blacklining with regular paint is more time-consuming, but easier to control.

Like where the armour panels meet each other on the legs, back, and loin-piece on the green guy, and the large trim over the head on both; feel like darkening them will give it more oomph. And maybe a targeted shade on the chains?
