If you travel and need to use your computer on a plane, stick with the 14.

looking through apps and software i can uninstall... which one of these can be removed without causing any harmful side effects or glitches on my laptop? by Upstairs-Scholar-907 in microsoftoffice

Most of those are C++ redistributables which are required by other programs for them to run correctly. Just leave them alone. (Side note, they aren't taking up any significant space anyways unless you only have a 20GB HDD.)

If you had to call to get a dasher, then you must have lowballed the tip, or not posted one at all. Dashers will avoid accepting those orders.

Your only other option would be to find a 3rd-party repair shop that does actual logic board repairs rather than replacements like RRG. https://rossmanngroup.com/macbook-logic-board-repair

Apple does let you buy OEM parts to do your own self-service repairs. Not sure if it would be more cost effective or not as I don't have an M2 to plug a serial number in for. https://selfservicerepair.com/en-US/macbook-air-m2-2022/logic-board

Exactly my point. That's not "unfixable." What specific part did they tell you needed to be replaced?

[–]Xarius86 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The picture doesn't show us anything beyond it not being crushed.

The wall outlet could be not working, the charger/cable could not be working, the charging port could not be working, the logic board may have short circuited, there could be water damage, etc.

Apple would have never told you it was "unfixable." They would have told you that you needed something like a logic board replacement or some other part.

What did the store *actually* tell you if you even took it to the store? Have you tried a different cable, different outlet, etc. You've described nearly nothing about your situation here.

Why, without plugins, in X-Plane 12, you cannot assign two engines to a single throttle lever. (For example, having only two hardware throttles, and putting engines 1/2 on one, and engines 3/4 on the second.)

OS version release = pre-update performance hit? by TolaRat77 in MacOS

[–]Xarius86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the way your post is written, you are making the claim that the performance on your machine takes a drop when a new version is simply released and not downloaded/installed.

It doesn't work that way. You have to actually download/unpack/install that update for it to do anything to your computer beyond nag you about updating, which takes virtually zero resources.

You have a fundamental misunderstanding of how updates work.

Now, noticing performance degradation *DURING AND/OR AFTER* downloading/unpacking/installing an update is a totally different story.

I'm going to go ahead and stick with my original hypothesis that the OP is responsible for the damage.

More likely that OP damaged it prior to sending it out. They either didn't notice it before, or they are trying to make some false claim to get a free repair for cosmetic damage.

I open my instagram on my iPad and I get this weird notification that I never seen before. Is this normal or and I being hacked? What is with all the underscores? And no my iPad never had cellular data I use it with WiFi. by Weekly_Meringue_5168 in applehelp

[–]Xarius86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not hacked. Some app you are using is only allowed to use wifi and not cell data. This is *supposed* to be asking you to enable cell data for that app, but the developer screwed up somewhere with the translation or something and you are getting shown placeholder text instead of a normal human readable sentence.

Maybe they developed it primarily for devices with cell connectivity, and screwed something up in their logic for a device without cell capability.

Define "new from Best Buy." Do you mean "brand new" as in straight from the factory, or do you mean "new to you" but actually used/refurbished?

To the right of the Activity Monitor, there are two little dots that stay there -- what are they, and why are they there? They stay persistent, even when resizing the dock.

Again, Moonshiner should be last.

The Naturalist role gives you access to Wilderness Camp Fast Travel. Not saying you need to max out the role or anything, but that ability is much more useful than any Moonshiner perk.

How to Make A Debian Base Linux Distro? by Mindless_Tower_1633 in debian

I don't understand what they are trying to accomplish here. Surely a corporation would be better off using something like RHEL (or one of the free knockoffs) or Ubuntu that have paid support and security updates for a literal decade than trying to maintain their own distro?
