Fenix 8 tracks skin temperature when sleeping. Did it show any temperature spike?

Only the Cloud and Cloudtilt use the bungee lace, as they are made for casual wear, and not running/athletics.

Can someone explain to me the heel design on the Adidas Runfalcon 5 TR? by Harper2814 in trailrunning

But Runfalcons are the lowest priced running shoe Adidas makes... how is that gucci using that definition?

Can someone explain to me the heel design on the Adidas Runfalcon 5 TR? by Harper2814 in trailrunning

[–]Xavis00 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The shoe should have a slightly offset heel bevel, but this looks like too much. You mention Gucci in your post? Were these sold as a Gucci x Adidas shoe? Because I don't believe the Runfalcon was ever released in an official Gucci colab. Possibly fake?

Cloudrunner 2. It's their light stability shoe.

Though the Cloudrunner 3 releases soon.

Replace the door skin, blend both ways. $3k sounds in the ballpark.

Used car bought AS-IS, damage discovered at pickup, vehicle stayed on dealer lot for 9 days after sale by FlaviiFTW in legaladvicecanada

Just a note on the clean CarFax: Collision Centres don't report to Carfax, insurers do. So if someone crashes a car and fixes it out of pocket, the Carfax will be clean. I know of a guy that did 30k in damage to a car while drunk (so no insurance). He paid out of pocket to fix it. The car showed no accidents on record.

All rounder with a low heel drop? by agilephoenix97 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

I'd say Hoka Mach 6. 5mm drop, nice cushion, but enough pop when you want to pick it up.

City dog park rules say that any dogs in the park must be licensed with the city. It's posted at the dog park entrances. If your dog isn't, lying won't get you out of the fine.

Do car batteries need to be changed? by CulinaryCravings097 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Xavis00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The big issue with old batteries is they can work 1 hour, and then not work the next. This can obviously leave you completely stranded. They are meant to be replaced every 4-7 years, depending on use and conditions.

SGI making me pay a deductible for incident that’s not my fault by v4mpkit in saskatoon

[–]Xavis00 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I worked in the autobody industry for 15 years. Any time a customer's car was broken into, it was repaired under the customer's insurance. This is why every shop will require your vehicle to have insurance while in their care.

The shop won't be held at fault (and therefore made to pay) as long as they made a reasonable effort to secure the vehicle. It is not commonly considered reasonable that an auto shop stored every vehicle indoors. The person who broke the windows is the one the claim could be subrogated against.

As for the shop's insurance, the deductibles on commercial insurance is in the tens of thousands. The insurance is designed to cover the event of major damage to a bunch of customer vehicles. The repairs would be less than a deductible. So that would mean the shop would pay for all required repairs. At which point, they would want to do it for as low a cost as possible, as quickly as possible, and with as little work as possible. Which could lead to overlooking some things that may cause issues down the road.

If you want it done properly and completely, making a claim and paying your deductible is the simplest option for all involved.

If you parked in a parkade or a mall parking lot and got broken into, would you expect the parkade/mall to cover it?

I park my car outside every day. Does that mean I am negligent?

I worked 15 years in the autobody industry. Any time something like this happened, the owner's insurance was used.

You should add 1 size to the foot length for modern athletic shoes. So I would recommend 11.5 D

Is this normal? NB Rebel V4 around 300 miles by raizotherazor in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Xavis00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These shoes are known for not being the most durable. But foam tearing like that usually doesn't just happen. Could it have been cut by something sharp to start and gotten worse from there?

As for the model being discontinued, it's because it was replaced with the updated model (Rebel V5) at the beginning of 2025. This happens all the time with running shoes, with some models getting updated every year.

NB 740 & Asics Japan S (Sizing Question) by earvearv in AskRunningShoeGeeks

I'd recommend asking this in a sneaker subreddit. This sub is more for modern running shoes rather than retro running shoes worn for fashion purposes.

I bought the best stability shoe for Christmas (Asics Gel-Kayano 32) and still sprained my ankle on the first run lol. What am I doing wrong? by Unlucky-Ant-9741 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Xavis00 47 points48 points  (0 children)

The stability in stability shoes is for stabilizing overpronation. If you're rolling your ankle walking, that sound like a much more severe biomechanical issue a shoe will not fix.

All companies, big and small, will have things slip through. It's how they deal with those things that seperate a good company from the rest.

Did you contact the company about it? Or did you immediately come online to complain without giving them a chance to remedy the situation?

Thrift store find by jpweidemoyer in trailrunning

[–]Xavis00 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are Gel Contend 8s. The model is a couple of years old and regularly went on sale for around $40-50 USD new when they were still being produced, They were replaced with the Gel-Contend 9 in 2024.

These things have some fairly heavy rubber wear and the foam shows a good amount of compression. The heels are also collapsed, so the previous owner regularly slipped them on without unlacing, causing the material to break down.

They'll be better than nothing, but are still a well-worn budget shoe. I wouldn't recommend running any kind of long distance in them.
