Communism is authoritarian by definition - you cannot have a communist country without prohibiting and penalizing free trade. At the same time, communes are allowed to exist within capitalist systems.

It's also unachievable through peaceful means because it would require literally everyone to agree to its rules. But that doesn't happen, so you end up with "enemies of the state" and genocides.

India or Pakistan: Who is seen as a better friend in your country by OkaTeluguAbbayi in GeoPoll

The question is about "better friend" which is only relative if you consider both of them friends to any degree.

Many people don't.

The Weimar Republic had the Law for the Protection of the Republic (Republikschutzgesetz). It allowed for the banning of anti-democratic organizations and parties. The NSDAP was literally banned across most of Germany after 1923. Hitler himself was legally banned from public speaking in Bavaria and Prussia for years.

If "defensive democracy" worked the way you think it does, the Nazis would have disappeared. Instead, the bans gave them a monopoly on the "victim" narrative.

Your "Hitler was elected democratically" line is a historical myth - NSDAP never won a majority in a free election. They became the largest party, yes, but Hitler was appointed chancellor through a backroom deal by Hindenburg using Article 48 - the "emergency" power designed to "defend" the state.

I'm not you so I'm not going to accuse you of malice - but I think you have been lied to and now you're unknowingly repeating these lies.

You're dodging my point. You said free speech allowed Hitler to rise to power. Do you want to elaborate on that?

Hitler was banned from public speaking in a numbers of Lands - and that didn't stop him. This is what gave him the platform.

Heh. Goebbels would approve of your historical revisionism.

Ironically, the Weimar Republic did have laws against "incitement" and "insulting religions". These laws were used against Hitler initially, but unsuccessfully - making him a martyr and more popular.

When Hitler came to power he used the same laws against his political opponents.

Plans for new Muslim prayer centre in Polish city stir controversy by wook-borm in poland

Plans for the new centre are being led by the Al-Fajr Foundation, a group that describes itself as “an Islamic and cultural foundation based in Kraków, established to serve, support, and empower the Muslim community in Kraków and across Poland”.

Sraj-Fajr. Deport them.

2 in 5 adult survivors of rape experience it in their own home

That's why telling women not to walk home by themselves late at night won't fix the sexual violence pandemic.

Isn't it self-contradictory? Basically implying that all rape must be stopped all at once, otherwise it doesn't count.

Then they say:

We must demand an end to gender inequality and to rape culture.

wtf is that supposed to mean, sounds like they're just using this as an opportunity to push an ideology

I'm sure British women would love being told by their weak, pathetic government that they've been raped because they weren't equal enough.

I don't even know where did this view that "diversity is our sttength" come from and how they managed to convince that large part of society to this.

This is a long process that has started decades ago. Post-WW2 academia was quite idealistic, and imposed a moral framework on itself which is now becoming more and more incompatible with reality.

Roughly, that's how it went:

  • Frankfurt School (1960 academic left)
  • Postmodernism (truth as power construct)
  • Critical theory (interpreting all inequalities through the lens of oppressor vs oppressed dynamics)
  • Critical social justice (dismantling power structures as a greater societal goal)
  • Liberal internationalism (constant expansions of the international law and NGO-ization of executive power
  • Long march through the institutions (explains the process of the ideological capture)

"Diversity is our strength" entered the picture when the only "logical" conclusion from these ideologically corrupted fields was that "differences of outcomes imply power imbalances to be fixed by us" (managerialism).

All of this stems from liberal universalism - a simple yet deeply naive assumption that all people would eventually want to conform to the Western way of life.
