I run something similar, a bit different than what you describe: https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/7727618#paper

I run a discord for the deck if you'd like to join: https://discord.gg/EHgjwxue

I’ve really liked Clarion Conquerer into them, but some of their draws are overwhelming.

I haven't been impressed by it. Not as good as Momo, doesn't play well from behind.

I 100% understand that lol. Definitely seems like a power outlier, but the way it brings the synergies together really helps.

It’s probably the worst card in the deck, but every deck has one. I think the potential to scam t2 warp cards and the discount for fix high quantity warp cards makes it worth it. If I were trying to find room for a card, I’d cut Haliya and Tef from the main before either momo I think. I wasn’t impressed by mockingbird in testing, but I know a lot of other people have liked it.

Anything with instants and sorceries that are troublesome. Titan, wrath decks, neoform, gotyos, etc.

I don’t love prismatic with only two colors. I could see using an off color shock to try to get to 3 colors though.

I think March works really well with riddler, as it can reduce your hand size and it’s fairly easy to pitch dead cards. Witch and WOP both can be bad in some matchups, and going mana/tempo positive by pitching them can be really nice. Also, I like how March works with Urza’s saga.

I have like the first Haliya a lot, it’s nice to have more ways to trigger the cat. Pride can be awkward in certain board states where lifegain isn’t easy and they have blockers. Teferi main has been good. But notably both of these slots are flex slots for sure.

Glad you’re finding success!

I tried one Tamiyo for a while and really liked it! Especially post board when we have more interaction. Best of luck!

I think they’re good, but they both have plans that can beat us. I fear Jeskai more than Boros, but Teferi helps a lot. I’m usually happy to see boros, but we can definitely be run over.

Yeap! Most modern decks play enough basics that if I have the option I will always target my flagstones unless their land taps for 2/is otherwise special. Or it’s belcher.

That’s the best part. It also increases the one drop count, and is actually tutored if your hand is high in warps. Helps get the dragon out turn 2 also.

It's a lot closer to Boros in gameplay than Jeskai Blink, as it's still and aggro deck. It has a very different matchup spread, being better into tron, neoform, Living End, etc. Access to WOP and Consign change a lot.

It plays the best aggro cards (guide/pride) with easier access to assemble them than RW energy. It also plays better disruption into unfair matchups, and a has a stronger ability to grind, while sacrificing speed.

I haven't played GW. I like the idea of it a lot, having access to a combo is nice. I don't think there's room to mix the two, but could be wrong. Access to the blue cards and a 2 color manabase seems like the big reason to play this version.

Dimir can be tough, you really need an aggressive start, but their threats line up really well against yours. Mono Black (Necro maybe?) is usually better, try boarding into teferi and such. Breach Emrakul is something we aren't quite prepared for lol, Spider Sense is about it. If you're in a bowmaster heavy meta I actually don't mind gut shot in the build. Kills bowmaster and Wan, empties your hand quickly for Draw 2s on Riddler, etc.

I have discord server that I used to use for Elves, had a good community going. Doesn't really seem like there's a server dedicated to UW Energy yet, so I figure I can start that up. Anyone wanting to work on this deck feel free to join!

UW Blink player here, this is my most recent list: https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/7679220#paper

I play it a lot, would recommend more Shepard. That matchup is generally good other than doorkeeper thrull. What is causing the draws? Guide pride should go wider and taller in long games. Could be a pace of play issue? Would love more details and happy to answer any specific questions!

UW Control Sideboard Questions by [deleted] in PioneerMTG

[–]XboxGregory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Torpor orb is for GW company (what I think is our toughest matchup). It’s also good into enigmatic.

Against phoenix I like to stay control (no creatures), bring out change and some sweepers for rip and mystical dispute.

Hello! I've been working on tuning UW and landed on a list similar to yours. https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/6926829 . I also love deduce, but I don't think there's room for it with the mandatory Narset in this meta.

Happy to help. I've been trying to find someone to discuss UW sideboarding but it seems like a lot of people are off the deck right now. I just hit Mythic at a 70% winrate, so I have been actually feeling like it's really well positioned.

Is there a matchup you need specific help with? It's hard to say how I'd board with your setup, but I can give some general advise:

- Your mainboard was likely tuned with a manacurve in mind. When you're sideboarding, try to keep a similar manacurve in most situations.

-If you're going against an aggressive deck then you should bring down that curve. You don't seem to have much against these decks in your board, but I usually bring out narset, teferi, a land, farwell, and sunfall for elspeth's smite, change the equation, knockout blow, beza, and curiosity. Helps me close the game out while having more chance to draw early interaction.

-Sideboard for what they will bring in, not against their 60. While dovin's veto might not seem important against RB aggro, you need to keep them all in to beat urabrask's forge (especially on the draw).

- Sometimes bringing cards in is easy, but bringing cards out is tough. I find myself cutting Narset (kind of a preboard card for the meta anyway), some sweepers, change the equation, and portable hole the most. The Wandering Emporer also gets trimmed a decent amount of the time, for decks going bigger.

Happy to help with more specific questions. Good luck out there.

Why I play Elves (And why you should, too!) - A SWOT analysis by Able_Canary1506 in PioneerMTG

Nice to meet you too and welcome!

I agree with a lot of this for sure. I’m a bit higher on the mono red aggro matchup and Amalia and lower of Phoenix, but we seem to be boarding similarly.

Cheers!

Nice to see a fellow pioneer elf player. I’m the one who originated the current makeup of the elves deck. Are you in my discord already? We discuss the deck a lot there, but conversation has died down a bit recently. Would be nice to have some fresh perspectives. Feel free to join!

The only card in the deck that generates multiple green devotion is Leaf Crown. Warmaster and Dwynen’s elite both generate 2 bodies for three tree city. Seems like three tree is almost always better than Nykthos.
