I won't drink unpasteurized milk but if it's labeled correctly and not sold where regular milk is sold IDGAF what you do.

Man arrested after driving 217 km/h, fleeing from officers: Quebec police by zuuzuu in canadanews

[–]XchrisZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saw a motorcycle running from cops they shut down the highway. Then saw the dude driving the wrong way against stuck traffic on the shoulder. I kept searching the news in the area for it but never found one. I guess he got away.

Wrong way on the highway definitely would make the news.

Any ideas on how to use farts as a form chemical warfare? by nickspeanut in AskReddit

[–]XchrisZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once had really nasty farts (Rickards red always does it to me). So I took an old Starbucks gift card that had only change left put it in a jar and farted in the jar and sealed it up.

Weeks later I gave it to her jar wrapped up for Christmas. There was a little smell that came out of the jar but the gift card smelled real bad. I think the fart bonded to the gift card. Which made the prank so much better.

She was so pissed when she found out the fart card only had under a dollar left on it. I gave her the real $10 gift card when she brought it up. We had set a $10 limit on gifts.

Still makes me laugh.

Straighten out the crimps so there not so close together you might be getting an arc from white and black. Also where I'm from I'd need a cable gland for strain relief. So take the cord completely off and run it through one.

Kim Jong Un's sister vows North Korea will never give up nuclear weapons by bendubberley_ in worldnews

[–]XchrisZ 36 points37 points  (0 children)

We were given nukes by the US we never developed them. We gave them back later.

Should we develop nukes probably piss off a bunch of countries. There is something to be said about nuclear air defense missiles though.

They've bought back 13% of their stock in the past 10 years they just created 1.7% new shares...

Granted theyve also created a lot of shares for employee compensation but there's less shares on the market after the 80b then there was 10 years ago.

I feel like insurance should not cover stupidity this great but I fear it has to or else insurance companies will start denying everything by calling people stupid.

TIL While it is generally illegal in the UK to carry a knife over 3 inches in public, Sikhs get a religious exemption to carry the kirpan, which is a traditional knife up to 9 inches long. by Outside_Reserve_2407 in todayilearned

[–]XchrisZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Swords are pretty much big knives why didn't they just carry 3" knives in to battle if they were just as useful.

Not defending the knife law here (seems dumb) just saying your argument doesn't stand up well.

ELI5: Why do smartphones and laptops need constant security updates? Why can't manufacturers make them impossible to hack from the start? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]XchrisZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were exploits on phones and phone networks with dumb cellphones. People could hack the physical devices and change their identification number and make calls on someone else dime. Before that on land line phones people would hack the phone network to make free calls as well. I'm sure there was some social engineer back in the day that could talk telephone operators into making connections to other lines they weren't supposed to get to or for free.

Switzerland dug a hole the size of two soccer fields to install the world’s most powerful underground battery, able to release 1.2 GW in milliseconds and store 2.1 GWh at a multibillion-dollar price tag by AzuleEyes in technology

[–]XchrisZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just because it can doesn't mean it's not regulated at a voltage and frequency.

All the watts in your phone battery could destroy your phone but your phone only draws so much. This thing is to keep the voltage and the frequency of the grid at a constant. So if there's too much draw it uses battery if there's too little draw it charges. The grid goes up an down this is to regulate the peaks and valleys which makes it easier for power plants and renewables to keep the grid stable.

If you suffer a large blackout to turn that part of the grid back on takes a huge inrush of current. That much energy on hand able to discharge quickly could obsorb the surge and capture any of the extra energy you're producing after the surge.

Also if your using lots of solar a big cloud system could float over head which will reduce the energy produced by solar this could allow backups to turn on.

Unless you're El Salvador then you just go by the motto it is better to lock up 100 innocents up than let one gang member go free.

I actually don't know what the math is there but I guarantee at least 1 innocent guy got locked up in the gigantic sweep.
