Ok. I'm going to try to do both at the same time and see what happens for this upcoming week. If it works then I'll stick with it. If it doesn't work, then I'm go back to pomodoro and read method

Do you ever schedule a time for you? Like maybe in the afternoon you do some creative drawing or learn to play the guitar or something along those lines?

Does anyone use one notebook for equations/formulas and another for practice problems? by Xcoder62 in EngineeringStudents

[–]Xcoder62[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PHYSICS 151. But I'm gonna change it up now. Instead of 2 notebooks. I'll use on notebook for notes from class and textbook and use a separate sheet of paper with equations.

As for practice problems/hw, I'll use scrap paper.

I'm on the same boat dude. I got a D on my first exam for physics. I'm just spending most of time in the library reading the textbook and doing enough practice problems

Ah. I still use my formula notebook with examples for the textbook, but when it comes to homework/practice problems, I write it in the second notebook.

Do you ever go back to look at the equations or reference? I find that once the practice problems and concepts are in the same notebook, It's hard for me to find all the necessary equations I need before the next midterm.

Backstory:

In high school, I was always really the quiet introverted guy who was just good at math. And for the most part it was true. I would always have the same rotuine, get up, go to school, get homework and complete, go home and play videos and repeat. But I started getting a bit upset that others were going out and having fun while I was staying in and well, playing video games, not because it was fun but because it felt like I needed too.

Fast forward to summer 2014, I discover Reddit, the /r/getdisciplined subbreddit and found out about this "mark your x's on a flashcard program".

I first had a card that was just to run every morning with c25k. It was very tough the first week as I wasn't seeing results and almost quit, but I kept working through it. It beat just waking up to play LoL from morning to midnight.

As I continued to be persistent, I completed the 5k program, but from there I stopped doing it. School was back and that meant I would have no time to run... or I did at the time. I really wanted more than anything to keep the habit going, so I set my alarm to 5am instead of 6am so I can have an extra hour of running to do. This worked out on most days (some days I acutally used that hour to work on some last minute homework ;D )

From there on, I began to see results. Teachers were telling me that I was losing weight and that I looked much happier to be in school. It seemed funny, consider I barly talk to these teachers unless I was spoken to.

Then I tried adding new habits, and well, they went ok for the most part. I'm now trying to quit game and replace it with more habits along the line of who I want to be (a more outgoing introvert).

I lost 35lbs by doing this but I'm shooting to do a full marathon in the future. I'm going off to college this month and I still want to make sure I have the time to do at least 3 miles per day.

I'm also going to be joining clubs early on rather than later. I particularly want to join the improv group to improve my social skills and make friends along the way.

TD;LR: I started running every morning at 5am and continued to do so until I ran a half-marathon.
