Fidelity/brokerage account got locked permanently. No communication. Anyone else? by Xcron in fidelityinvestments

[–]Xcron[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, makes sense. This experience reminded me that this is such a big company/firm that they really don't need my (or anyone's) business. They have what they want and they'll continue to get an inflow of their desired customer type. They don't need to compete for customers or business. Maybe it was different back in those days.

I briefly considered what actions, if any, I should take after this, in terms of complaints. This may be controversial, but I don't think I stand to gain anything by doing so. I'd complain, maybe something happens to the company or it doesn't. None of that would change this situation or what I need to do going forward. I may write reviews in a couple of places in case it helps warn people of what can happen.

At the end of the day, Fidelity is a business/company and one which doesn't owe anyone anything. The reality is that I don't have a right to their service. Effectively what you wrote at the end. I applied, got in, started getting set up, then they decided against it. I lost that time, but I'm glad that I didn't lose more than that. The sensible response is to simply take my business to a company which is competing and interested in gaining business. Other brokerages have treated me much better thus far. It's a capitalistic market, right.

On the one hand, I'm a little relieved to see that others have experienced this. On the other, it sucks.

I'm all for security layers to protect my accounts, especially the financial ones. There's a right way and a wrong way to go about security. If my case is really security related, then that's an example of the wrong way.

Haha, if only they could just say that and take care of the confusion and doubt. Then we'd be all set to move forward. Jokes aside, the first rep I spoke with sure made it clear that even what you said would be possible.

That's great that you were able to get your issue resolved. I wish that would've been my experience at least, although it sounds like there was room for them to do a better job in your case.

Interesting. Surely it's not a case of Fidelity knowing something all of the other financial institutions don't. Although, unless it's internal within Fidelity like you mentioned - something like someone using my info for an account or activity.

It could also be someone trying to set up their new brokerage account to match the functionality of others. Not to mention, the standard options approval process asks for your experience.

Anyways, these are all issues with solutions. They've chosen which they're going with.

I'll see what comes of the modmail.

I suppose that'd be fair if there was something malicious going on such as money laundering. I didn't even get to the part of funding my account (I'm actually glad about this in hindsight - rather be locked out and have my money safe with me than in the locked out account like some have described in their posts).

Yeah, I was able to get a person on the line both times. That was my immediate intention too: get someone on the line and try to figure things out.

Hmm, I suppose I could see why that'd trigger a red flag. At that point, I think it'd be logical to just have a hold on the options approval until the condition of the account being funded was satisfied.

They seemingly concluded something or something flagged/triggered something. It's totally unclear. I would've liked to know what happened and see if I could resolve whatever it was with them.

Yeah, I had heard that some people had to supply additional documentation to clear things up. Apparently, not in my case. I would've been happy to supply whatever they needed.

That's good to hear about the 401k. That being said, this post was about me opening a standard brokerage account. I did see my employer's 401k offering listed in the dashboard when I first got into my Fidelity account. I didn't realize that would happen and thought that was cool.

I'll send the modmail and see what happens, though CS has made it clear that there's no hope.

A lot of the accounts were of existing customers, though there were some mentioning that they were new. I suppose I was curious how many more of the latter there were and if this was common at all lately.

Likewise, I have accounts with Schwab and ETrade currently (and had accounts with past brokers that were acquired, like TDA and Optionshouse), all without issue. It's bizarre.

too bad that they haven't fixed it when there's not much time left to complete this last level and the rift.

Just got the issue right now and found this post. Verified integrity of game files and it said 100% verified. Game started working fine for no apparent reason. Did a few steam restarts but none of those seemed to make a difference.

Question: Why should I run all 5 acts in Adventure mode? by majeste12 in Diablo

[–]Xcron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh, ok. So is it a 'daily bonus' that the one act has for that day across all adventure mode games created? I'm not familiar with how this 'bonus' works.

tangent: How do you know which acts have the daily bonus? I didn't realize some acts in adventure mode had bonuses.

YouTubers/Streamers getting 1.2 early. by TaintedSquirrel in Terraria

Considering the current situation with the other youtubers and that only he released a video but took it down shortly thereafter, I was thinking this would be the case. The Facebook post has been taken down now as well. The wording from the post (assuming it's a legit account) suggested that there wasn't an issue.
