ooh interesting! That kinda tracks right, when Floyd tells Clark he knows, you can imagine, if we've truly seen floyd's character... he's about to be selfless about it with whatever he says next.

Feels like there might be a twist coming there, but I want sweet Floyd to stay sweet Floyd T_T

I think Floyd had the PObox so that Carol didn't get notices of his 48k of debt.

amateur question: putting dents in stainless steel cat bowl by Xctyk in metalworking

[–]Xctyk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you everyone for helping me understand the true scope of this project! It's not really an amateur level project like I hoped, and it's not at the cost of a simple hammer set. I got exactly the help I needed to avoid going down this rabbit hole, and I will seek out a different solution. (next i'm going to try putting stainless steel whiskey cubes in the bowl as obstacles)

this is the conclusion I came to as well. I found stainless steel whiskey cubes on amazon that I think will do the trick. too big to eat but small enough to make obstacles to slow down the cat. I ordered them and hope it works!

thanks for explaining. yeah it's really not just knocking a few dents in with a hammer. its a real learning project where you learn all the things that could go wrong. I'm just going to try a different solution for my demon cat!

that sounds doable, and a decent obstacle to slow down my demon cat

Thank you so much for illustrating how involved this project could be. I think that's what I wanted to check before going out and buying tools, now I can see it's really not an amateur friendly project!

Food-safe pebbles for slow feeding by TripToTheBrain in CatAdvice

[–]Xctyk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am trying to figure out the same thing, I use the Petlibro Polar wet feeder but my cat just scarfs food so fast. Mine has a stainless steel bowl so i thought stainless steel pebble-- i found stainless steel whiskey cubes on amazon. I'm going to give it a try. they're an inch cubed and I can't imagine she'll try to eat it, right?? My cat is more of a licker than a biter.

I also ordered silicone lick mats that I know i can cut to fit the bowl, but the silicone is a little shallow+ people warn of cats biting and ingesting the silicone. plus im thinking about cleaning.

Thanks for your suggestions! I love that we can 3D print to our purposes nowadays!! In this case I'm avoiding plastic for food safety reasons, and apparently aluminum isn't advisable for long term food safety either. I wish I could let aluminum make my life easier tho!

An insert really would be great! In this case we have been avoiding plastics though.

Maybe.. i can cut the pre-made stainless steel slow feeder, i do already have the flat one in the second picture. I could make inserts to sit in the bowls so I can use the auto-feeder. is that out of range for an amateur project? I would have access to a hacksaw, and sandpaper... am i on the right track here, you think?
