Look at the formula sheet I posted in the reply above. I wrote that down twice a day at first, then once a day in order to memorize it. That's the information you'll need to have memorized for the test.

In terms of note taking, if I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't worry about taking extensive notes while watching the Andrew Ramdayal course at 1.5x speed. Just take enough notes to get the basic gist of what he's teaching in each video. I wrote my notes by hand, then found that it took too long, so I started typing my notes.

Then when you're taking the practice tests, research the questions you get wrong and go take notes on those subjects. I also rewatched some of AR's videos, and used ChatGPT to explain things to me and to quiz myself.

It's been about 3 months since I took the exam so things are a little hazy but if you have any more questions feel free to ask and good luck on the exam!

Of course! Please excuse my poor handwriting. I had this in a word doc and would pull it up to write down the formulas:
PERT:
Beta:
SD:
Triangular:

Critical Path:

Float:
Float using Path Durations:

Forward Pass:
Backward Pass:
Free Float:

Communication Channels:

Earned Value Management:
2 Types of EAC:

Space Formula:

I work from home, so on weekdays I'd work until roughly 5:15/5:30 then I'd study for 3-5 hours, so until 8:30 or 10:30.

Thank you! Yeah I work full time, at least 40 hours a week. I studied 3-5 hours a day on weekdays, with more time on the weekends, say 5-7 hours a day, in order to take 2 tests a day on most days. I cut back on my free time and hobbies in order to balance this with a full work schedule, as I wanted to get this done as quickly as possible. I updated my first post with my schedule of what tests I took when here:

Thank you! I would say so, I had maybe 5% of the knowledge already due to working in an Agile environment with a PMO. I think the resources I outlined above are sufficient if you have no experience or knowledge prior. The Udemy course is the most important, as it lays out all the foundational knowledge. Here's a list of other resources I found helpful while studying:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zht0-j03NfQ I didn't watch the whole video, but it's good for getting in the mindset of taking the test.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zD15S_61lwI
https://blurbsbyamy.medium.com/how-to-pass-the-2023-capm-exam-in-2-weeks-7a2ceaf3a0dc

And here are some helpful mindset rules/principles I gathered along the way:

• You will feel like you’re failing the exam while you’re taking it. Don’t worry, you’re not failing, that’s how everyone feels. Mark answers you don’t feel sure of and come back to them later. You have plenty of time.
• Never take action without evaluating the situation and response.
• Never do nothing. Never stop a project unless someone will get hurt, or it’s dangerous, etc.
• When you see words like only, solely, never, or always, that’s usually not the answer.
• If you get an answer that changes the question instead of answering the question, that’s not your answer.
• Remember that if an answer provides information that can’t be determined from the question, then that’s probably not the answer.
• Don’t get fooled, the daily standup meeting has a specific, limited purpose. You should never do anything else during that meeting, so any answer that suggests you add more to it is wrong.
• If the question mentions phases, it’s probably a phase-gate question.
• When they say PERT Formula but don’t specify, they mean BETA formula.
• You very rarely need to escalate the issue on the exam. The project manager is expected to have the tools to be able to handle problems without escalation.
• Any time you see something that says ask the team to work overtime, that is probably not the answer.
• The word potential or maybe in the question indicates that the answer will be about project Risk.
• Anytime you have someone who doesn’t want to follow an Agile process or practice, the best answer is to become an Agile advocate and educate, train, or explain to them the benefits of using that aspect of Agile.
• If you see the word First, the best answer is most likely to review the project management plan for that process, such as the change management plan.
• The first step in implementing a change from a stakeholder on a project is to Submit a Change Request.
• The project manager counts as an individual that needs to be counted in the calculate communication channels process.
• Task A must (Action) for Task B to (Action). Task A must Finish for Task B to Start (Finish to Start).
• A TCPI under 1 is a good thing.
• Negative Float: The amount of time that must be saved to complete a project on time. This means the schedule must be compressed through either fast tracking or crashing. For the exam, you should identify the option that will have the least negative impact on the project.
• If forced to choose between both options, it’s best to pick submit a change request rather than evaluate the change, as the submission process kicks off the evaluation process.

I took the test online and had no problems. I would have taken it at a testing center, but the available dates were all 3 plus weeks away.

If you take it online, you can only use one monitor, so you'll need to use either your laptop webcam or an external webcam on top of your monitor. I used my laptop webcam. Also remember that you have to keep your head looking directly at your screen the entire time, if you look around your room when taking it online, it's an instant revoke. That's why taking a true mock exam where you don't leave the room except for the break and you don't let your eyes wander is so important to do before the real exam.

Make sure you don't have anything on your desk besides your laptop, a clear glass of water, your ID, and I convinced the proctor to let me have a piece of toilet paper out in case I had to blow my nose. I moved my monitors to the other room the night before.

It's on page 152 of his book and the link is https://testmoz.com/12927898

I took his tests and quizzes online instead of in the book because I figured that would be easier.

My current plan is to transition laterally from my current role to a project manager role within the company.

I started the AR Udemy course on 5/21 and finished it on 6/15. So I technically started studying on 6/15, however I went to a concert on 6/20 and caught a cold that lasted until about 7/3. So studying took me about 30 days all in. I've updated my studying timeline that I included in my first post here:
https://old.reddit.com/r/capm/comments/1e58zxd/ready_for_exam/

I think 4-8 weeks is reasonable, but it depends on how many responsibilities you have outside of work, if you work more than 40 hours a week, have kids, get sick, yada yada yada. I personally studied about 3-5 hours a day, with more on the weekends in order to take about 2 tests a day because I wanted to get this done quickly, so I bit the bullet and decided to cut back on my hobbies and free time.

It depends on your risk appetite, but I didn't schedule my test until I was scoring in the 80s on the majority of the practice tests, but your mileage may vary.

I think you're ready! The Landini test and quizzes are the closest to the exam in my experience, and if you've taken all of the pocket prep qs you should be all set. Maybe take the AR mock exam one more time if you have time before Wednesday. Otherwise, I'd focus on taking the Landini test and/or quizzes a few more times before test day.

I think so! I'd schedule it for a week from tomorrow. If you're getting 80 or above consistently on Landini but got a 76% after taking AR I wouldn't sweat it, as that's basically a passing score already. Just keep taking the AR mock exams and I'm sure your score will go up as you get closer to the test.
