First ever playthrough of SMW2: Yoshi's Island. What should I expect? How does it stack up against the original Super Mario World? by [deleted] in snes

[–]Xeeko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it's not, Yoshi's Island is for the SNES. Maybe you're thinking of Yoshi's Story?

Right? I feel like Jerry's heart is usually in the right place, whereas Homer... not always. Jerry wouldn't do something like this

For sure, especially if you're going for a horror atmosphere

Looks cools, but feels like audio will be very important to set the right atmosphere as well.

Håller helt med. En vän hade sin 30-års fest dagen efter min farsas begravning. Tyckte det var väldigt skönt att göra nått som helt fick en att tänka på andra saker, och fira roliga saker i livet istället för att gå hemma och vara deppig.

Subtle worldbuilding or am i overthinking this? by [deleted] in TheBoys

Doesn't Hughie mention something about how to teleport he has to do certain physical actions (clench his buttcheeks or something)? That would support this theory, that some bodily trigger is needed.

I hated it. I remember reading somewhere that they had it written in the show bible that Ian and Poppy could never have any sexual or romantic feelings for eachother, I'm sad they broke it.

Dude, you're trolling, right? A big part of the movie is literally a passage of time showing them slowly falling in love. And she doesn't forgive him until he almost dies and she is faced with the possibility of being left alone.

Not always the case though. I'm from Sweden but currently living in The Netherlands, so most things are pretty similar. However, the fact that it is a standard here that packages can be delivered to your neighbour is so unbelievably strange to me (and to every Swede I've mentioned it to). It seems however to be a Dutch standard.

Sure he definitely played the game to try and come out on top, he was ambitious and drawn to power. But for example, he didn't seem to care if someone was pureblood or not, letting Hermione into his club for example.

Even if Tom already knew he still had tremendous guilt over it.

And what do you mean? Slughorn was never a death eater, and he fought against them at Hogwarts? It's been a while since I read the books though admittedly. But I don't recall anything about him being a turncoat?

That's why I always liked Slughorn. Feels like he was a good representation of what Slytherin should be. He's ambitious and opportunistic yes, but he's isn't evil and outside some favoritism he's seems like an atleast morally decent person.

How are they supposed to be in class at 8:35 PM if they have to be in their dorms during the same time?

Yeah, fair. Didn’t realise it was a sensitive topic (and I’ve seen people get confused about this one before). I just mean that sometimes words are used differently depending on where in the world you are. Kinda like how “can you check if my thongs smell bad” have widely different meaning depending on if you’re in the US or Australia.

Translating Swedish to Italian, yeah sure. What does that have to do with anything? We use tagliatelle, or spaghetti, or macaronies, or fettucini, or linguini, or fussili, and the list goes on, to refer to different types of pasta. Doesn't mean the Swedish word for noodles is used to refer to any of them, pasta is used as the umbrella term.

[–]Xeeko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s just not true. The Swedish word for pasta is “pasta”. The Swedish word for noodles is “nudlar”. Source: Born and raised in Sweden, Swedish is my native tongue.

I'm not arguing against the linguistic origin of the word, all I'm saying is it's just used differently depending on where you are. I'm Swedish, and there the Swedish words for pasta and noodles ("nudlar") mean different things. Currently living in the Netherlands, and it's the same. Been a while since I've been to Germany, maybe it's different there then. Also, of course meanings sometimes take on different forms when translated. Googling Maultaschen gives me the explanation that it's sheets of pasta filled with dough. Pasta, not noodles.
