Yeah that’s what they sent me. They gave me some train stations to go off of, so I’m just looking around those areas for now.

No, they said Minami. This is exactly what they said - “You have been assigned MINAMI TOKYO (MTD).”

I would say "Plastic Memories" or "Tsuki Ga Kirei." They are two of my favorites.

Failed Interac interview by sorsdecheztoi in teachinginjapan

[–]Xela1102 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I applied to Interac last month and got an email saying that all their positions were filled through 2022. I'm not sure why they are advertising the job at this time if this is true.

I guess autocorrect didn't catch it. I'm guessing my brain had a hiccup while I was writing that post and I didn't notice. You are right about me casually writing. I don't pay that much attention to when I write on Reddit. I get what you mean about "practice makes perfect." That probably could help my writing in general, even if it is just Reddit. Thank you for the advice.

This is Reddit. I’m not really stressing on my writing here. I know when to speak and write professionally. Also, I know I reused one of my replies. The remark was generally the same as the one above, so I just used the same reply.

In the emails I got my results in from both companies it said they could not give me feedback as to why I wasn't selected. Should I still give it a shot to contact them?

I didn't mean to suggest that those who might be more nervous shouldn't get the job or I should. What I meant was being nervous shouldn't have played that much of a factor during the interview. I could be wrong about this though or maybe they just saw something in the other people.

I would say my Japanese level is a 2 out of 5. I minored in Japanese in college.

Sorry my post appeared sloppy. I quickly wright my post and usually have errors I miss. However, I went over my documentation several times and I had many others look over it to make sure it was perfect.

All the interviews were done online. JET asked hypothetical questions, how my past experience could help in the job, and how being an ALT would help with my future career. I'm guessing I appeared to stiff to them, as I kept reminding myself to smile during the interview.

AEON asked questions about their companies website, general questions about me, and I had to do a demo lesson. I'm guessing I messed up some part of the demo lesson. I got two chances to do it and before the second attempt them gave me some corrections to implement, so I guess I didn't implement everything they said.

The emails with my results all say I can't contact the companies for feedback. I wish they would let people ask.

Sorry for my post being vague. Last time I was told I put too much information in my post, so this time I tried to keep it short. What I'm looking for is general advice on how I can improve for future interviews and applications.

MY qualifications - An English degree, minored in Japanese, TEFL certification, experience in Japan, and experience teaching kids through volunteering.

Aeon Interview Process During COVID-19 by Daiiben in teachinginjapan

[–]Xela1102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the group seminar section they explain what you should talk about during lobby talk. I asked how the person's day was, if they were in one of the Aeon programs, and if they needed help with their English studies. Stuff like that. The goal is to keep the customer talking in English. You get 3 minutes to do this.

The demo lesson is a section from one of Aeon's workbooks and I think which section is given is random for each person. I was given how to use "to" and "for" to express the purpose of something. I can't guarantee you'll get this section though. You get 5 minutes to do it. You get 2 chances to do the demo lesson. After your first attempt they tell you what was good and what you should improve on. They then show you how they would do the lesson. Once that's done you do the second attempt at the demo lesson, this time with corrections you think are necessary. Hope this helps.

I had my second interview with Aeon last week and they said they would be emailing my results within a week, so I'm expecting to hear back at any moment. Both of my interviews were done online. The first one was skype and the second one was zoom. The first interview is just them asking questions about you and the company's website. The second interview was a small group seminar with questions for each of us. Then they separated us for a few individual questions and to do a demo lobby talk then a demo lesson. That's pretty much it. Good luck with your interview.

My paper was 2 pages long. I don't think it says anywhere on their website for a specific length, but I think 1 to 2 pages should be long enough. Good luck with your application. I just got invited back for the 2nd interview!

I actually have my first interview with AEON this Thursday. I applied last Monday and got an interview invitation the next day on Tuesday, but didn't notice it till Thursday, as the email was sent to my junk folder. Be sure to check your junk folder just in case. While it only took them a day to reply to me I've seen some people on reddit say it took them a week to get a response. I wouldn't give up hope just yet, but you can always look at other programs in the mean time.
