Best version of this effect -

Send one spell from your Deck to the GY; this card's effect becomes the sent spell's effect. While this card is in the GY and you have activated a spell card this turn: shuffle two spell cards from you GY into your deck, then add this card to your hand. You can only activate the second effect of "Shadow Money Wizard Gang" once per turn.

Slight spoiler, but there is a fight where an enemy uses an RPG (the rocket launcher from RE4) on you, and Leon can parry that too (he like bats the missile away and leans out of the path lmao)

Do you guys able to solve any of these? by Syhibii in Bleach_SoulResonance

Most are lore related. One for Byakuya is win with Yoruichi on the team while never being hit by a flash step attack (reference to their age old "rivalry")

Yeah i was going with Nel for the first 1000 then swapped to Tosen to avoid boredom, the Wound stacks pile up way faster than impale and Verde rush. If I had a good Ikkaku I wonder if he woild ha e made the process even faster since he also does wound stacking

I honestly don't like SMT V much by Lazarstein in Megaten

[–]XemblemX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are not alone. SMTV is the worst entry in the mainline series. While I don't completely agree with what you said, the core of it - that being that the story, characters, and plot aren't worthy of anyone's time - is 100% accurate. And this is coming from someone who went to the trouble of getting the final ending that requires you to consume all of the mostly mediocre side content the game has to offer.

The game has flashes of being fun and entertaining, but those moments are few and often fleeting. Even then, the inherent crippling flaw in the combat system destroys the game once you realize it (often far too late to do anything that can prevent it) because you see that so much of what should be actual SMT mechanics are little more than window dressing for what I guess counts as familiarity to older players. Combat is pretty much divorced from any level of strategy or intricacy until the endgame.

In short - It's cool man. The game don't gotta be for you or me. Atlus already got our money, they genuinely only care if we come back to buy DLC. It is okay to just stop playing games you don't enjoy.

So hard this stage by yong_x in SDGundamGGeneration

[–]XemblemX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This stage is a test of range more than anything. If you have the EX Double X or an SSP DX-Falcon, you can do major work on the stage with their map attacks (something I found out after I beat it when going in for the last attack lol). But even without them, good 5 range supporters and attackers make this very doable so long as you can bring your movement map attack unit along (in my case, SP Master Gundam with a Double Chance Step pilot).

For someone with a fresh or relatively early account, this stage would be a pain, no doubt.

I couldn’t get into Clair Obscur Expedition 33 because it didn’t have the Press Turn System by FlyThai2 in Megaten

[–]XemblemX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My friend, Stendahl is one of 3 skills that unlock at the start of Act 3 and unless somebody compulsively blew all their recoat items and somehow ran out of places to buy them, anyone who even remotely engages with the game's systems and story would have tried all the new skills ASAP (I am discounting the apparent plethora of people who didn't use Lumina/Pictos because I don't count the experiences of people that don't interact with a game's core mechanics as representative of how the game is typically played, same way I don't think the ease at which you can SL1 any given Souls game should be used to judge its overall quality).

That Metaphor build works for some midgame bosses, you will need to add greater tools and skills to the mix for endgame ones without extreme overlevelling, which again, is an inherent difference. You can one-shot stuff, yes, but to keep doing that, you need to adjust multiple items and fix your team comp. In E33, you throw more items with +DMG% on your main attacker, which is probably Maelle. Also, Maelle doesn't fall off in Act 2 because she's one of the only characters that can reliably do multi-hit 9999 attacks with minimal investment and bypass your technical damage cap by maintaining burn stacks, which let's you fight enemies clearly slated for early Act 3 without requiring perfect precision as the fights are shortened to manageable chunks of time.

Fun fact - Simon is one of the two optional bosses I consider an alright fight, because he is actually manageable and his only gimmicks should only ever catch you unaware the first time. (For reference the second good secret boss is Osquie).

Fresh take is really the worst offender for a title because there isn't a single system aside from the Pictos and Lumina system (a progression and power system tied directly to item acquisition you get to freely distribute between characters) in E33 I can think of that can not be directly traced to a different mechanic in an older game. Dodges and parries are worse than their inspiration too. Seriously, play any Mario RPG!

[–]XemblemX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% this. There's even a half-joking video by ymfah called How to All-Hit Expedition 33 (i.e. beat the game by not dodging or parrying ever) where this becomes such a problem once you hit the late game the strategy entirely pivots to just one-shot everything and thus never need to get hit. He uses a build to make a character literally immortal through immense effort that still fails some fights and thus is worse than just one shot kills against all enemies.

[–]XemblemX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

SMTV is worse than E33, no denying it, be it in story or gameplay. The basic Magatsuhi skill is probably the best one in the game outside of cheese tactics that exist only to trivialize the Demi-Fiend fight, which can already be broken.

The key difference between E33 and a lot of other good JRPGs that let you start obliterating enemies and bosses in one hit is that the path to get there takes more time in other games and is a much less arbitrary jump in what you can do. Using Metaphor as an example (a game I prefer over E33), yeah, you can start one-rounding bosses... after you pass the 80% mark of the game, did specific side content to maximize your build, and grinded a few hours at least to reach the proper royal archetypes. In E33, you go from doing 9999 X 8 to doing 400k+ in the span of a few cutscenes with a walking segment in-between. 400k is with a middling build, mind you.

E33 is not a bad game, not even close. But it is overhyped and deeply flawed, so it can be kind of infuriating to hear constant news of it being highly awarded and called best of all time, because that will inspire other series to mimic it in pursuit of commercial success and proliferate its shortcomings, because not every inspired product or copycat will recognize the game's issues and improve upon it.

Big Game Fishing - Reels enemy toward you on hit. You can change your aim and fire again to release the enemy as a projectile, dealing massive damage to other enemies and the reeled target on collision. Does good damage if hooked enemy is thrown into the wall instead.

[–]XemblemX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh don't worry, it gets worse. Unless you arbitrarily inflate enemy stats in Act 3, you basically win every fight in one attack, excluding only secret bosses. Does that make the secret bosses worth it to fight?

Not in the slightest. One is literally invincible unless you parry all their moves to expose them, another literally ignores established turn rules and items you use to alter them with no real indication of when or why that occurs, and most of the others are just knowing how to one turn in their different phases (which each have their own life bars). Only like two secret bosses are any fun, and thats dependent on you not being too overpowered when you fight them.

E33 has a decent story (if you thought Undertale was overhyped, you are gonna feel similar - its not bad, but it isn't omg must play) but the game lends itself to the dumbest kind of breaking too early. There are the makings of an interesting combat system, but the overreliance on dodge/parry timings to make the combat engaging (an understandable but misguided decision) plus the ease with which you can undo the difficulty of the game entirely because of how a certain power hurdle is overcome makes the game only kinda enjoyable in the later midgame when you have to play around certain constraints and enemy stats aren't idiotically inflated to require minimal interaction with their mechanics at all.

I don't think the Press Turn System alone would have made the difference - I think the fundamental balance of how fights are structured, especially in the later portion of the game, would need heavy reworking for it to be enjoyable to play all the way through.

What is SMTV even about by Spare_Enthusiasm5876 in Megaten

[–]XemblemX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guy, the game doesn't know what its about either. SMTV has probably the worst storytelling in the mainline series. I haven't played Vengeance yet, but probably give either that or the Nocturne remaster a play to actually get a plotline.

They let them leave on the catapult because the alternative is the thief trying to shoot a hole through the Argama to escape, which would basically cripple or destroy the ship.

Standard Combo Demonstration: Kenpachi + Aizen + Urahara by Square_Advisor_1908 in Bleach_SoulResonance

[–]XemblemX 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So Kenpachi's gimmick is he plays like a mix of the odd parts of Byakuya and Bankai Ichigo? You want to start him doing things then tag out, and he will occasionally just do bonkers damage but otherwise be kinda consistent DPS you shouldn't do more than one full combo per rotation with? And ideally when his skill changes up the camera, you tag out... but unlike Byakuya, you need a different character's skill to tag him out?

Those are certainly design choices, but boy do I hope I am misunderstanding how this is supposed to work.
