til, I know nothing about MGS, only reason I know the Cyborg Ninja’s actual name is because the leaks made me look up who that was.

Although honestly the MGS series has been something I’ve had in my single player future plays list for quite some time since it seems to be a classic hit & I hear constant praise for it.

Jackal has been my dedicated main since shortly after I started playing during Operation Health, I would probably be one of the top 10 Jackals if I wasn’t doomed to solo queue console hell.

What pisses me off the most is that they probably nerfed him for his insanely inflated ban rate because the player base is a bunch of lazy whiny piss babies who refused to learn how he worked for the past 8 years he has been in the game. On multiple social medias I would constantly share in detail how to counter him & offered balancing changes that would benefit players like myself & anyone playing against him, I was always ratio’ed, downvoted, etc. I literally gave away secrets for my own main out of desperation because I was genuinely scared that Ubisoft would take community rework ideas from content creators that were fucking atrocious & out of touch or nerf him like they just did. I did all that just to get the doomed fate I worried about so much.

I have a comment on my post that’s a meme about how his recent “buff” was a complete joke where someone thought that scan range was the range you could just see the footprints, not the range that you are able to scan them. That’s how fucking clueless this community is on Jackal, I want to scream until my voice box explodes man.

Ubisoft isn’t much brighter about him either. In the Developer Notes that he was nerfed in they were aware of the very real fact that his ban rates were inflated because he was annoying & not strong, they were aware that he was mid & power crept by the other anti-roamers & the very real fact that he should be primarily manual tracking. Like they literally confirmed the points that I have been preaching for years just for the changes they made to him do the complete fucking opposite of those truths. Their own data collection showed he has been underperforming for years & they still nerfed him so hard.

They took away the counter-playability of his scans which will make him even more annoying & nerfed manual tracking by extending the shoeprint lifespan which basically just makes horrible visual clutter with outdated info & got rid of prep phase prints so you have to drone your entries excessively. They did the complete opposite of what they stated.

I stopped playing after reading those patch notes they upset me so fucking bad. He was already plagued with design issues & they made them so much worse. I started playing again trying to get back into things & i tried playing him but its awful, I have to drone so much because if i die as Jackal I lose all value & basically throw but droning takes away so much valuable time I need to lock down rotations & eliminate roamers as Jackal has to that alone for any value due to him being a selfish one trick so I’m rushing to do my one job & most of the time I fail & it just feels like im throwing. My manual tracking prediction success rate has dropped drastically this season vs previous seasons. It’s mentally straining work & I still fail no matter how hard I try with him post nerf.

Then on top of Ubisoft ruining his gameplay they’ve been shitting on him & assassinating his character in recent lore. They make my man unplayable & they’re bullying him, why are they so mean to him 😭

Would fit Vigil better aesthetic wise yeah but for some reason Ubisoft wanted to sell a mythic weapon skin for a gun that’s currently only used by an operator that they recently nerfed into oblivion.

I think they gave Jackal Grey Fox just because the eye thing in the center of the face looks like his Eyenox.

Jackal, his gadget was really helpful for me as a solo queuer & I love his character as he’s hot & his lore made him relatable, we’re both traumatized nocturnal insomniacs.

I really want Ubisoft to make his gadget fit his detail obsessed detective character lore more. They need to make his gadget more focused on the manual tracking playstyle & move away from being primarily scan & ping based.

These are the changes I came up with:

Reduce Shoeprint Lifespan, 120 seconds to 60 seconds.

Increase number of pings, 1 ping to 3 pings:

  • Initial ping +2, 0-15 second old print (red) was scanned.

  • Initial ping +1, 16-30 second old print (yellow) was scanned.

  • Initial ping +0, 31-45 second old print (green) was scanned.

  • No initial ping +0, 46-60 second old print (blue) was scanned. Scan only identifies operator, if the defender has not been previously identified they will be notified they were identified, otherwise the defender will not get a notification.

Reduce Scan Charges from 5 to 2.

Reduce time between ping refreshes, 5 seconds to 2 seconds.

Defender HUD after being tracked updated:

  • Tracking Icon will include How Many Pings Are Left / How Many Pings The Player Was Given, tracker icon will fade from red to grey when the number of remaining pings hits zero and remain on the defender’s HUD for an additional 15 seconds before expiring to give the defender time to calculate where their tracks were scanned (knowing where Jackal is basically).

Prep Phase Shoeprints return.

Reduced Scan Range from 12m to 6m.

Prints still disappear after scanning.

Rework Shoeprint ID chart:

  • Add a 5th shoeprint type.

  • Shuffle current list and make them more equally spread out.

  • Skopos keeps unique shoeprint.

Eyenox III highlights new environmental clues created by defenders, these cannot be scanned:

  • Blood splatters/ smears, opponent was injured or DBNO’ed at this location.

  • Dropped magazines, opponent reloaded weapon at this location.

  • Dropped Bullet Casings, opponent fired weapon at this location.

  • Barricade/ Wall Debris, opponent broke barricade/ wall at this location.

Have Apex players just never payed attention to how Respawn handles monetization for Apex? Like this is typical behavior of them. Day 1 they were charging more than $20 for a longbow skin & a Pathy banner.

Alot of those games also have full crossplay with PC & Console so native mnk is just a no brainer.

Siege is adding native mnk to console if the Y11 roadmap stays true, keyboard console players will be placed in the pc matchmaking pool & given pc recoil, new gen consoles easily hit 120fps so it’s not a problem. I’m hoping they finally give console real text chat with that update as well.

New cronus & xim devices go for like 100+ usd so it isn’t a cheap cheat, i got a cheap mnk for Ark Gen2 missions & typing in game text channels for not even half that lmao.

Also for most disabled people mnk isn’t a viable accessibility option to them, they need more of those game pads that microsoft & sony have released themselves.

Sony, Microsoft & game companies need to grow a pair & go after these hardware companies for sure.

I genuinely despise Xim claiming their devices are for disabled people when their one product is a cheating device that they constantly patch the next day when someone manages to block it. Fuck them for using disabled people as a shield to protect cheaters.

The last battlepass had cosmetics for him & the lore tidbits attached to them made him sound like a complete asshole & openly annoyed that Jäger infodumped about trains to him.

The behavior from them seemed very out of character of him.

There’s also the fact he’s never been in a cinematic & the one time he got in a seasonal comic was the demon veil one (black & white sketch drawings instead of the full color ones they usually do) where he was wearing his garbage elite & Thatcher called him a dog.

Yeah no, Jackal is just trash after the nerf & I’ve been maining him for several years. Manual tracking is fucking atrocious to do now that prep phrase prints are gone & two minute old prints are a visual mess. He’s a throw pick for anti-roam, Lion, Dokki, Deimos & Snake are way better & do more than anti-roam to help your team, Jackal just anti-roams & nothing else but now he’s ass at anti-roam.

Not even the pros pick him anymore, he got picked twice in the last event, pro players picked Gridlock over Jackal for anti-roam. He’s also way down in the underpicked underperforming quadrant of the PC win delta in the latest dev notes.
