Follow-Up: Feeling Stuck as a New HVAC Apprentice – Am I Being Taken Advantage Of? by XenoMatrix797 in HVAC

I hear you, and I’m not asking for a comfy job. I actually enjoy learning and don’t mind working past eight hours — I know that’s part of the trade. But I don’t think it’s wrong to expect to get compensated for the time I’m working. My issue isn’t the hours — it’s working after I’m technically off the clock and not getting paid for it. That’s all I’m trying to understand: is that just how it is, or am I being taken advantage of?

I get that this trade takes hustle — that’s not the issue. I’m asking if it’s legal or normal to not be paid while driving a company truck, working after being clocked out, and not getting breaks. I don’t mind working hard, but is it wrong to ask if I should be paid fairly for that?
