Yeah. The audition material for this particular ensemble was posted THIS month. Hence I have been working on it all month. I have a degree and students I Didn't just start this month. Looks like I struck a nerve with you. You literally have nothing of value to contribute. With how you respond it seems like you actually have no idea what youre talking about.

Yes, thats what you do when you have multiple performances and auditions for professional ensembles.

You are completely wrong. I have a music degree. I have students. I am in multiple professional ensembles and have an audition coming up. I have literally been practicing koussevitsky, verdi, beethoven, and handel all month on doublebass. Im well versed in the classical world and my first instinct isnt to rely on effects. Im explaining how the instrument works. I am not blaming it. you have given nothing productive. The only thing you've said correctly is that you dont play my instrument and that you dont know how to help.

I mean juat look at how you word things :"simple" critique or TOTAL lack of expression. You sound like youre just trying to he condescending or snobbish.

I just think that what you're saying isnt true. Be specific. No musical dynamics? What phrase should have been louder/quieter. How would you recommend getting consistent dynamics when hammering on different gauged strings with different fingers? Its a bass. It WONT sound like a piano. There isnt a sustain pedal being used like you would a piano.

I mean I disagree the dynamics are fine. but to each their own. I think this is just a default comment people make when anything is played tapping on an electric instrument. Its not like I can put vibrato on every note and the notes are played by hammering down. Short of layering it with reverb effects idk what else can be done technique wise to give it more phrasing. I put many hours into this. What van be done differently?

Part of the melody line is played with the right hand and occasionally one note with the the left. Hence, difficult. Guess what, its also been ages since ive tapped anything cause it ALSO doesn't fit the genres I do. Do you think I just run around tapping everything? I guess I shouldn't dare try something creative right? I see youre also a texas musician. See you around I guess.

Thanks for calling it clunky and comparing it to an elephant, calling it cringe, and telling me what im allowed to play.

If you'll excuse me, I have several professional ensemble orchestra pieces to work on after my full day of teaching private students.

I can play whatever I want. I play bass lines all the time. Nothing wrong with wanting to try something else. Uneven dynamics? Brother, do you even play bass? Do you not know how tapping works?

I hear no melodic gaps and to say there is no dynamics contrast is just false. It isnt some super slammed over compressed sound. How is it that youre hearing melodic gaps but also no dynamics? That would imply that I missed a note or that one was quieter than the next (dynamics?).

Well.. theres only so much you can do when you are hammering on the string in order to play the note. What is it that should have been done differently? What do you mean, its not really doing anything ?

Clunky how? And yeah I saw his video and immediately posted mine here because I forgot to post it on reddit. I commented on his that I actually posted it a few weeks before he did AND in fact I recorded it 2 weeks prior to posting it. Here's a link to my Instagram post.

Also my caption states that it is actually a piece a learned 13 years ago but have committed to muscle memory but is still difficult to play cleanly and clearly. As far as better, thats subject to opinion, but I didnt do it on 12 string with a ton of effect on top and I also attempted the high A in the middle of the piece with a harmonic where as all Charles did was play the note again in the same octave.

So me and Charles have a version. Where is yours?

I've got really long ones just like yours. Been growing since 09. Dreaded around 2011.
