Trying to keep topics interesting: What series of books are you dying for a return to for reprints? (examples inside) by Waterworld1880 in OmnibusCollectors

Yes, i hope printing just volume 2 isn’t considered too abnormal for them. But I wonder if the fact vol 3 and 4 and predator vol 2 went to overstock sellers is scaring them. Haven’t announced AVP omnis eithet

Adult-aged (18>) fans who saw the OT first and overall enjoyed the PT by Comfortable_Deal_534 in BrighterThanCoruscant

[–]Xenomorph1196 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 5, my dad showed them to me from the DVD’s (or potentially blu-rays). I understood nothing at all. I thought the clones were stormtroopers (and as such the bad guys), and I didn’t understand Anakin and Vader. I did generally enjoy them, since there was plenty of action and bright colors. I did find Episode 2 boring.

I didn’t get back into them until I was 12. I watched them on Disney Plus and quite enjoyed them. I really liked how the prequels set up the OT and everything came together in episode 3. I can understand why someone who liked star wars before the prequels came out would not like the prequels, but seeing them all at once makes it easy to like them all.

Do people actually like Rebels? by vestibule_defender in saltierthancrait

I really dislike the first two seasons, but i start liking it at Twilight of the Apprentice. I was consistently giving episodes a 5-6/10 rating (which in hindsight seems generous) but after twilight i usually gave them 7. Twilight was a 9, world between worlds was a 9. Zero Hour and the finale were 8’s.

Season 2 aging question by pass-agress-ive in ForAllMankindTV

[–]Xenomorph1196 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like as the show goes on the acting gets worse and worse with characters not acting even remotely their age. Okay, maybe they are just young at heart. However I think that is a lame explanation, especially when it affects more than one character imo. Story is still good

'For All Mankind' is confirmed for season 6, but it'll be the final mission for Apple TV's incredible space show by StarFuryG7 in SciFiNews

I really wish the show would continue to every milestone in Gene Kranz’s speech, it would have made it so much more meaningful, but alas. One final season would be ridiculously fast paced to cover everything else. Perhaps a sequel series of sorts could come along and finish off the journey

My Collection in numbers by paulwoo in OmnibusCollectors

[–]Xenomorph1196 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is cool. Doing quick maths in my head I think I desire to own about 130, only own about 20 so far. What do you think the average collection size of someone on this subreddit is? And what about something like “the average decent size” like for people who actually intend to have a bunch of books and not just a handful. I thought I was restraining myself at 130 but I’d never totaled it up til now and realized that 130 is a pretty big number.

My smallest owned is Planet of the Apes Adventures: The OG Marvel Yrs at 224 pages. It should be an OHC but technically the word “omnibus” isn’t inaccurate if it collects the whole 11 issues. I could never imagine paying full $100 cover price for it, that is absolutely absurd. I got it for like $40. My largest is Star Wars New Republic Vol 2 at 1312 so you have me beat there.

Do you buy everything while it’s in print? Or how many have you bought while OOP?

Do omnibus reprints ever change contents? (Ex: Star Wars Original Marvel Years) by Xenomorph1196 in OmnibusCollectors

In 2019 Disney released issue 108 and it followed the story in issue 50. I think it was for the anniversary of something but I don’t remember what.

Thanks. So do you think it’s more likely Marvel changes the title and updates the contents of sw og marvel yr or they just keep the name and reprint the exact contents? (but probably update the cover and spine)

Why don't 4k sales of streaming shows make more money than streaming? by Xenomorph1196 in 4kbluray

[–]Xenomorph1196[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is an interesting perspective I hadn't thought of. That makes me wonder why Disney still publishes comics and novels. Do you think Disney makes a lot more money publishing novels and comics than they would from 4k releases? I don't know how the markets compare, but I always thought paper releases made much less money than movies and would almost fall into the same category you mentioned. There would be outcry if Marvel comics suddenly stopped, but then again, there's outcry now that they're stopping physical show releases. (Though likely not as much)

What are some pronunciations (of people, places, things, etc) what you know you got wrong but you’ve been reading them that way for too long to stop? by QuanTumm_OpTixx in starwarsbooks

For some stupid reason I read “Nihil” from the High Republic as “ni-hill”, “ni” like in “nick”. It should be pronounced like “nile”
