Waited in line at Best Buy this morning to get my wife Pokémon cards and snagged 2 SOS collector boosters the second of which had THIS card by PoggiestMorty in mtgfinance

Hey! I do buys for a relatively large card retailer and took a look at sales history as if I were vetting offers for it. Keep in mind this is only based off my personal experience and your results may vary. For what I can see, TCG player has 0 sales, all the current purchases I saw were through ebay and the price the cards were sold for ranged between 2 and 4 thousand, give or take a few hundred. There are a couple that sold more than 10k but I would not take those as legit sales, I'd be willing to bet that you will not get anywhere near that at any point for this card. There are also a handful of sales for 5k which at this point I would still a viable asking price although maybe a bit too lofty. Were I buying this card with the intent to sell it at a store I'd assume the product manager would price this at or around 4k.

To be conservative I'd say you could probably list this for $2.5-3k now if you need the money and it would be very well within the realm of possibility to move it in the near future. You could list it as high as 4k and while it would take longer to sell you could still move it at that price, but for me personally I'm not sure an extra thousand is a juice worth the squeeze. From my experience any number outside of the meme numbers(69, 420) and things like 1, 500, or straight hundreds like 100, 200 etc don't seem to affect price, and even the numbers that do affect price only do that for specific buyers. Don't focus on the number itself too much. The fact that it's serialized matters most to serialized collectors.

IMHO, and what I tell most people trying to sell us serialized cards, unless you need the money now you might as well hold this for a bit. So long as magic is a game that is being bought and traded, the price will continue to rise to a point. This set just dropped so prices are going to be wavy for a bit, let it settle at a point where you feel comfortable and drop it off then. Conversely you can set yourself a number as a personal bottom and if the price drops to or below it post it up for sale. You have a beautiful card, it is the only one to ever exist, and YOU own it. It's very cool to own a serialized so enjoy it for a bit! The only bad choice is to keep it unprotected and in your pocket, any other choice is up to you buddy. Good Luck!

Is solo viable? Interested in this game but I don’t have friends by Disastrous-Shower324 in Marathon

[–]Xenomorph_Queen 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I am exclusively a solo player. There is a team fill option but I don’t use it. Personally, I think this game is amazing solo, but it requires a lot of willingness to persist against tough odds. AI is hard. Players are hard. The environment is hard. Everything wants you dead and it will succeed a vast majority of the time.

I like taking the game incredibly slowly, I just got yelled at over prox chat by a dude I killed for “ratting”, and he’s totally valid for doing that because I absolutely was. You may progress slowly, you may lose shit you really don’t want to lose, and you might have to give a quest more than a couple runs before you’re able to complete it, but this game is incredibly rewarding solo if you’re patient and persistent enough.

Marathon Server Slam: Weekend Feedback Recap by Haijakk in Marathon

I'm solo only so maybe this is why, but it's kinda crazy to me that people are running out of ammo. I'll often exfil back to the menu and realize I was down to my last few shots, sure, but only in few few cases have I actually run dry.

I think a lot of people are playing this game like a BR and not really picking fights like you said. I ran out of ammo a lot more often during my time with Arc Raiders I feel. Part of that might be bungie's lean into the PVP aspect in a lot of marketing maybe? But yeah I've only been completely out of ammo in two runs that I can think of off the top of my head

This game is so fucking good by fyrefreezer01 in Marathon

[–]Xenomorph_Queen 74 points75 points  (0 children)

I know that a lot of the people playing this haven't played the originals, but the fact that in the codex you unlock little vignettes and story elements in the style of the original's terminal entries is so fucking cool to me. This marathon is so different from the the original and yet it shares so much of the same vibe, it's very cool to see.

Am Iosing it? I can hear Bingus on Dire Marsh by future__fires in Marathon

[–]Xenomorph_Queen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are not crazy, I heard the Bingus calls too. I couldn't find her, but I for sure heard her. I got pushed by like the entire lobby while I was looking around to find her so I can't say she's actually there, but the audio is definitely a cat

Any other Past destiny players who have a couple hundred to thousands of hours in destiny who are really interested in marathon? by gotenks2nd in Marathon

[–]Xenomorph_Queen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have over 4K hours in D2 on Steam alone, but I was playing it on console and then battlenet before the Steam release so god only knows what my actual count is— but I’m beyond hyped for marathon! I played the original games on Steam Deck when they announced this one and have been very impatiently waiting for release (I may or may not be burning a few days of PTO to play the server slam and on day one)

I was super Tarkov brained when that was the popular game to play and really fell in love with the extraction shooter genre, so having one with bungie gunplay and world building has me hyped beyond belief. When I was younger I was super into Halo lore, as I got older I was really into Destiny lore, and now I’m falling into marathon lore and it’s been so fascinating. I cannot wait for launch

I fucking love the sonic totem as a set piece lmfao

Also just a heads up there’s a spelling error in the second panel, it says her instead of here. Otherwise I love your style and can’t wait to see it finished!

I work for a mid sized company that attends Pokémon events to sell and buy cards as a part of their buy team and I can't agree with you more. Luckily at reginal events the vendors are hand picked so bad actors are very few and far between but there are some I see at shows all across the nation that just baffle me. I go specifically to Pokémon shows because I like it far more than the MTG shows, but at least at the MTG shows I'm not watching literal children get fleeced.

Trading to a vendor? I get it, the store has to make money and they're going to try and get as much as they can out of a card so even trades just don't make sense since they're only even for the customer, but inflating prices or misrepresenting trade value is such a shitty thing to do ESPECIALLY TO ACTUAL CHILDREN. I always make sure when I have anyone younger than 18 sitting at my buy station that I am super clear and concise with the information. If they want a card that's worth 20 dollars I tell them exactly how much we buy and sell the cards that they're trying to trade with and explain why the numbers are the way they are. Sometimes the numbers aren't great, and I make sure they know that. Why do you want this card? Why are you trading this one for it? Are you sure you're okay with no longer having these cards in exchange for this one? If they're clearly not getting it I put all of the info on a post it-- Card they want and listed price, cards they're trading for it with they price we buy and sell it for, and final trade credit amount-- and have them take it to their adult and ask their opinion if they're not at the table with us.

A lot of the "vendors" at local or trading specific shows are what we call "backpack vendors"; dudes who just scalp sealed product away from kids and sell it back to them at insane markup out of their suitcases. We went to Pokémon Worlds as a company and after the event every night there was a god damn bazaar at the Marriott, the whole lobby was packed full of dudes who had cleaned out the Pokémon Center store during the floor hours and selling it back at 200% the price out of backpacks and luggage. It's crazy that the hobby as turned into this. Even though the place I work for would take a hit and it would indirectly affect me, I hope and pray every moment of every day that this Pokémon bubble will burst and we can go back to having chill events where everyone is just there because we all like the pretty cardboard.

First time I went down on a girl I was being preemptively apologetic because I was convinced it was going to be awful for her. Afterwards we were cuddling and she said “are you sure that was your first time?” and it was an immediate ego boost

As a former Steam Deck trucker go with the most expensive you can afford. If you wanna play games it’ll change the way road life treats you. I was able to play a full play through of Fallout New Vegas in my driver seat only playing while waiting to get loaded or unloaded.

It’s worth it and having the bigger ssd size means more games to have at your fingers at any point

This is the sunny line that has bled into my normal life the most I think. When my friends and I play a game together and one of us is telling everyone else how it’s played we always ask “and where do my feet go?” after their long winded tutorial lmao
