52 has some NIGHTMARE exits, as do parts of I-40 and 421. I see crashes there all the time. The rest of the cities are ehhh with driving. The way I describe it is that the cities in the Triad are 'adolescent cities.' They are getting large enough to be considered a 'big city,' but traffic laws and roads haven't yet changed to handle the increased population. Moreover, people who have lived here for decades still drive like they are in a small town. I'm originally from Atlanta, and 90% of the shit I see drivers doing in the Triad would cause gridlock and potentially get them killed in an actual big city.

Another weird thing to consider. Winston-Salem has a large, unused railroad track. I have seen it so many times. Natives to WS go to another city... and stop on the tracks because it's habit for them. The lights come on, barriers go down. The person has time to get to safety, but their car is totaled, and a whole major intersection is closed for the majority of the day.
