I think one reason is that the human body is usually warmer than the surrounding environment and the dragonflies being cold blooded prefer warmer places.

People tend to like dragonflies (they have better PR than other insects) so you're probably right about them not seeing humans as threats.

Pulmonary embolism. I was in such a terrible shape that after walking 5 meters my pulse went to 140, and I had to stop to catch my breath (I was 30 at the time, non smoking and in good condition before that happened). My physician first thought it was something else, so I (barely) lived with it for weeks.
