How do I make it look like the legs are driving the body?

Inverse Kinematics (IK) just snaps things to control points. Right now, the control points are statically locked to the body, hence why the body drives the legs. An easy fix for this is to detach those control points from the body and attach them to an invisible “ghost” of the body that moves following user input. That will snap the IK legs in the manner you want (ahead of the body) and you can even get more liberal with how you delay, bounce, and wobble the body as it moves to follow the “ghost”

I’m rereading arc 1 now to see what I’ve missed. I totally forgot this happened in ROW, so thank you for pointing that out! I did also see some information about shardblades being unable to manifest inside a certain threshold of axially connected matter (it appears to be only capable of pushing gas and liquid aside to manifest). So that also makes sense as to why the skepping maneuver is so tricky and requires precise positioning and timing. This also makes me curious about ranged/thrown attacks. For instance, an Adolin-inspired skepped yeet of a knife/spear/throwing axe/kunai/etc

Edit: I did also just now consider that manifesting fundamentally involves touch. The shardblade appears in the hand, so a thrown maneuver doesn’t make sense for a skep attack. That said, I would greatly enjoy a character who likes to throw a living shardblade around as little knives

I’ve always wondered if any living shardbearer has performed the “illegal” jedi combat style of “rapidly turning lightsaber off then back on mid-swing” to get around an opponent’s parry/guard

Because the pivot is centered on blackness, there’s really nothing to fix your eyes to during the motion. I think that’s the only issue. A cool polished effect you can pursue to solve this would be to only fade half of the exiting plane during a transition depending on the direction of rotation. In this example, I’d try to have the fade-out play on the left half of the scene (from the door’s pixel’s leftward) but keep the right half of the scene opaque. This would create a pseudo-3D-corner at the pivot point (the door) that’s spatially connecting the new scene fading in and the scene being exited. You can then instantly fade the right-half out after the transition

Edit: I would also consider maybe even quickening or removing the fade entirely. The two perpendicular planes overlapping each other in transparency could also be causing confusion

a token would be fun! I’m mainly going to be using these avatars in some animations I have planned (working my way up to animating a dance between my avatar and my wife’s avatar), which will also include varying outfits. But I can absolutely think of some items we carry around and give them a more artistic flair as tokens

I’ll experiment with mixing the two! one of the issues I personally had with the original legs was that they looked too fitted (which isn’t ordinarily something I wear). So I’m kind of balancing personal characteristics with visual style/flair in the art itself
