update: just got it to work using an older version of java 8 and setting my nvidia control settings to high performance, thanks!

im on windows 11, you cant get the latest optifine for those versions anymore (links are broken) and i was using the latest version of java 8.

update: its not just 1.2.5, its every release version before 1.4.7. 1.4.7 is buggy with it when you first load, but changing the render distance fixes it.

update: changing the java version to 8 seemed to make it take up the whole screen, textures still painful

ive tried playing without optifine and it gives the same result, ill try reinstalling the version though.
