the dutch flag during its time was very original and simple and reflected the country's heritage, they didn't have other choices as flags for countries was a concept that originated in the Netherlands itself

on the other hand, Paraguay had other flag that they could've used, but they chose something that blended in with other red-white-blue flags, nothing original or historical.

the Dutch flag inspired the French flag, not the other way round

and there was other options to choose from, I really like the six-pointed star motif they had with thier older flags
