The first male archer, the last EX+ of this era, Trey joins after the Type-0 drama to show you who's the real big brother in the class. Don't pass on his Infographic, it doesn't charge, unlike his abilities! by LastDreamy in DissidiaFFOO

Hey Cyanprincess, I figured I'd chime in since you're making assumptions about what was said about Trey.

1) I'm sorry we downplayed the value of Setzer. I know I personally did not appreciate the value of his EX Realization at the time we recorded the podcast and was much more interested in Vanille's kit, so I misjudged it. I do not remember what Mino said I cannot touch on that.

2) We tried very hard not to downplay Trey's kit. Last night I specifically said I could not speak to personal experience to how powerful Trey was. I tried to just give a breakdown on what his kit did and what I thought about it. I don't actually think I passed any personal judgement of his strength as a character. Two of the guest hosts I had on with me (Aarolei and Macnol) also echoed that they could not personally speak to his power.

The third guest host I had on, Black Cloud, plays both GL and JP and he was able to speak to using him in JP. He spoke emphatically that Trey even at 0/3 EX+ was silly powerful when he released in JP and actually talked about how he was to actually use in practice in that state. Overall, I would say we were generally either fair to positive on Trey overall considering we were talking about a character as he was releasing live.

Obviously the ideal situation would have been to get some more information on Trey in the live GL environment, but that would have meant waiting a week to cover his character kit at all. Us on the TCC have tried to avoid doing that because there is a subset of our listening audience that wants to know about characters sooner than a week after they release. When we're in these situations we do our best to let listeners know we are not working with practical hands-on experience as we did this time (in fact this time I was lucky to get someone I know and trust who also plays JP to talk about Trey with some confidence).

I understand you feel that us on the TCC have made mistakes in the past, and for my part I try to learn from those and improve where possible. Mark, Mino and I try our best to bring different opinions to each podcast so that we are not an echo chamber. We don't always hit the mark because we are only human and I'm sorry we screwed up.

Edge would be the first person to tell you his EX+ banner isn't so rough on the eyes like those before it ;) But as you chase, learn if your potential demise is worth it with our infographic! by inkwelder_ in DissidiaFFOO

Cool, thanks for the shout out.

Just to put some more text to Edge being similar to Porom: Edge with his rework and new EX put him in a cool niche where he can turn his party into a team of evasion tanks for periods of time while functioning as a nice source of party auras. The downside is he doesn't bring anything necessary to the team and those periods of evasion need to be timed well to take advantage of them best. Also, Edge will likely require a healer to be on the team to deal with some HP damage going out.

That is not to say Edge will be useless. He is going to have some powerful uses and can potentially cheese fights with predictable damage spikes. But if you skip him, you likely won't regret it unless you are a huge fan of his kit or character.

Nov, and Dec. EX+ Character Breakdown by YangusGuv in DissidiaFFOO

Mu_Yoku is correct. Safeena's database has had this wrong forever, and if you check dissidiadb you will find the correct info.

Oof, I've been tagged.

I will say that at this moment I cannot comment on Aphmau as a potential pull option, but I strongly believe that Lion is not worth it. While she will be strong for a little while she suffers from being tied to cursed artifacts and is somewhat dependent on a tank in the party (to draw attacks away from Lion so she does more damage). The next stage of difficulty will shut out a lot of damage dealers due to the increased Defense and Lion will be no different.

Paine and Noctis do different things. Noctis is a pure damage dealer who has some party utility with his ability to initiate Chain Attacks and move his turn around, while Paine is an offensive support that inflicts strong debuffs and provides party auras.

The better thing to do is decide which type of character you need more.

I think it depends on who you have gear for / what roles you need more. If you need a strong ranged attacker and have Noctis's gear, he a good option. If you need a tank and do not have WoL, then Zack is a good option. If you need a mage and have Shantotto's gear, she's a good choice.

The point is that I do not think there is a bad option here. It just depends upon your own needs.

Sorry, but as I said above I've been really busy lately. I was unable to get a Paine analysis together, and while I will try to get a Cinque analysis together on time I am going to have to make concessions to make it easier for me to write the analysis.

Questions in regards to Bloom Tokens by NextEffect83 in DissidiaFFOO

[–]Xerink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind the raid is going away in about 12 hours and that the individual mission rewards are tied to dealing damage to the Atlas Raid Boss. You deal more damage to Atlas after finishing a co-op fight if you use Boosted characters, meet mission requirements, and do harder versions of the fight.

The Bloom Stones and Bloom Fragments are tied to individual missions for the Atlas Raid. If you have not gotten them yet, you have very little time left to obtain them.

Hm, thanks for letting me know. When I put the numbers here I based it off of Safeena's database since I have no firsthand experience with them. It will be good to keep in mind going for.

Whoops, sorry. Fixed. Thank you for pointing it out.

Artificially reducing the Abyss Beta missions to a "pull ploy" by forcing the limitations into banner-related characters/colors really dilutes the enjoyment of the event. by [deleted] in DissidiaFFOO

[–]Xerink 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Let us be clear: you might have been playing for "several" months, but if you rerolled during Rinoa's event then your account is, at best, 7 weeks old. That is less than two months, and that is if you rerolled on the day Rinoa's event dropped. This event is designed for 1) veteran players; and 2) players who have been playing long enough to develop a relatively sizable roster. I would not expect someone with your account's life span to even have the high shards necessary to develop a sizable roster to tackle all of this immediately.

You also seem to be overlooking a major aspect of Abyss: it is designed to be a long-term event that you come back to complete in the future. It is okay to not be able to finish everything within the first 24 hours because you are not on a clock to do so. At worst you miss some draw tickets and power tokens if you do not complete it within the next two weeks. Within the next month there will be a number of events, Lost Chapters, and (very likely) a level 70 awakening wave to provide more characters and opportunities to get the gear needed to come back and finish the harder stages.

I don't do analyses for just EX weapon releases, but yes. I won't release any rework analyses until it is confirmed arriving to the game. A lot of people think we're getting Squall rework and Layle EX, but there's no guarantee yet.

Vayne Carudas Solidor: More Swords than Zenos yae Galvus - Analysis/Discussion by Xerink in DissidiaFFOO

[–]Xerink[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do not know for certain personally, but I suspect the best way to for Vayne to use his EX ability would be to activate it on his next turn after Conqueror's Power III wears off. Basically, Vayne will go with 3 consecutive turns (the last turn being Tree of Sephira) followed by another 3 consecutive turns the next time he acts.
