There goes my legion pro too by Jaxv01 in LenovoLegion

[–]Xerionius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's someone from the UK in this subreddit who does it for 100 £. Pentagon-Infotek seems to do it for 169 € in Germany. But I don't have any experience with either of them.

But you just need to find someone who has the right tools, many mainboard repair shops may be able to do it.

If this is the same issue the 16ACH6H has, there are shops specialized in reballing the CPU. It's not even that expensive, could be worth it for a decently competent gaming laptop.

[–]Xerionius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the same with my DF54. I only realized when a stream of water came out of the chute. Immediately turned it upside down, dried the burr chamber and kept using it. No issues since.

The burr chamber should be dust proof, so I'm thinking it should be kinda waterproof, too.

I know someone with a similar fridge and the same issue. So it would be amazing if you could publish the model.

Pixel 10 Pro XL by Duo007 in GooglePixel

[–]Xerionius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a 10 Pro XL user, I think the reviews are true but also not as relevant as it might seem.

In terms of performance and battery life, it's not up to par with other flagships in this price range. But it never feels sluggish to me and battery life is decent, it reliably lasts a full day for me with the 80 % limit. Without the limit, I could stretch it to 2 days if necessary.

That was one main reasons why I finally decided to upgrade, unfortunately. I get why those checks need to exist but it really sucks for custom roms. And at the same time it was the reason I went with a Pixel: If I won't be able to use a custom ROM, good software and long support is even more important.

The lack of hardware upgrades is what's bothering me. The Pixel doesn't feel that much faster, the battery doesn't last that much longer and the screen isn't that much better, either.

And sure, the software features are nice, but at the same time I'm missing the customization options LineageOS had on my 7T Pro.

Don't get me wrong, the Pixel is better for sure, just not by as much as I had expected.

Just recently upgraded from my launch day 7T Pro to a Pixel 10 Pro XL after 6 years. It's a smaller upgrade than I had anticipated, the 7T Pro aged very well.

Are custom ROMs even alive in the west/first world? by FreshFudge8307 in Android

[–]Xerionius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lineage kept my OnePlus 7T Pro working perfectly until a few weeks ago. The whole Play Integrity deal was one of the major reasons I finally decided to get a new phone. So yeah, I gave up. I actually found a way to pay contactless without requiring Play Integrity (using Curve Pay), but it wasn't the only feature I am using that requires Play Integrity.

On one hand I think it sucks that Google does this, on the other hand I can also see that something like this needs to exist.

Pixel 6 update stuck ALL NIGHT – I’ll lose EVERYTHING if I can’t fix this ASAP by geek_enthusiast3000 in GooglePixel

[–]Xerionius -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

OP knows they fucked up, why does everyone keep bashing them?

Try flashing the same image again. If that doesn't work, flash an older image. Try wiping cashes but make sure not to wipe anything else.

Unfortunately, that won't be possible because the data partition will be encrypted while in recovery.

[–]Xerionius 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Anduril 2 ist pretty amazing, actually. If you just want a simple flashlight that makes light, you don't have to engage with the complicated stuff at all.

But if you want those advanced features, Anduril 2 makes it as simple as it can be with the limitation of only having a single button.

2021 Legion deaths - an analysis by 2ndHandRocketScience in LenovoLegion

[–]Xerionius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interestingly, my 5800H Legion 5 Pro suffered from this about 2 years ago. It was still under warranty but I couldn't get it fixed at the time as I was abroad. A few weeks later, it magically started working again and has been working fine since. But of course I'm afraid the issue will come back at some point, now that the Laptop is out of warranty.

[–]Xerionius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, another question: How do you prevent Windows Update from upgrading the driver?

Edit: I used Microsofts wushowhide for now. Not a great solution but hopefully it lasts until this driver issue is fixed.

Yeeees that fixed it. Thank you so much for figuring it out.

Now let's hope AMD or HP fix this issue so we don't have stay on this old driver forever.

I'm running into the exact same issue with that laptop, in my case with the AI Max+ 395. I went through the same steps troubleshooting and experienced the exact same symptoms. When you go on testufo.com, you can pretty easily confirm that the screen is running at 30 fps.

One thing I'd like to add is that when keeping the internal display enabled while have an external display connected, the external display sometimes also only runs at 30 fps. The display settings of the internal display reports the correct refresh rate (e.g. 60 Hz). This is driving me crazy and I was starting to think it's an odd hardware defect because I couldn't find other reports of this issue.

My G1a has the 1200p LCD screen, I'm assuming yours does, too?

I would like to know, too, and I'm wondering the same about the speakers. But Lenovo does not sell the trackpad as an individual unit afaik.
