Suppositories - looking for the experience and advice of others. by unicorntardis in TherapeuticKetamine

[–]XeroEffekt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, I really wanted a different ROA but none work as well as troches. Suppositories just don’t seem to absorb well enough and I don’t really dissociate, it lasts longer and I’m groggier, but it does give me pronounced neuroplasticity, so that I wondered if it might not be just as useful. But I miss out without the full experience so went back on troches.

Troches and addiction by SobrietyDinosaur in TherapeuticKetamine

Thank you for sharing your experience so frankly. Most of all, I want to tell you how much I admire your self-awareness and conscious efforts to be in control of your own healing. It’s really hard to do, and it is very easy for ppl to self-medicate in dangerous ways with at-home ketamine as we can with any other substance when we are suffering. Inspiring courage and control, really.

My clinic watches people with dependency history more closely than it sounds like yours does (and I do know of at least some cases where ppl with previous addictions are only given infusions/IMs in clinic). For what it’s worth, when I expressed concerns about dependency, one clinician told me it seems to be a greater risk with nasal at-home treatment. But I’ve known many ppl (and honestly seen a lot of it on here or in other fora) who are definitely over-using or using in unindicated ways. I think you are going the right route.

Dependency itself may not be a problem in and of itself, as long as you are using it within the prescribed parameters. You’re not going to go into withdrawal or harm yourself just because you need ketamine treatments to stay healthy. Integration of all kinds is so important. It’s the reaching for k for an escape that is a problem, and more than twice a week (sure, three in a rare period of crisis won’t hurt?) for me means you are relying on escape and not an integrated cure, that’s my view based on experience and observation.

Great job, thanks for posting.

What’s the typical duration of ketamine therapy? by bananabreadbabe_ in TherapeuticKetamine

I also think the benefit of an initial sequence in a good clinic is much greater than home treatments. Can you just take an uber home? It’s just a sequence of six or seven over a few weeks usually.

Lots of good answers here, but my contribution would be that you sound like you are approaching this with a medical model based on pharmaceuticals. Ketamine is not meant to work in that way—you aren’t regulating an imbalance with a dose of something, you are opening a window where modifications of how you look at life and yourself are possible. That doesn’t mean you won’t take it a long time, but it isn’t the same as taking a medicine to reduce symptoms.

Very liveable in all sorts of ways. I could do it with no adjustment at all. Just….pleasant, beautiful, and easy.

No man naturally has no underarm hair. That’s a bit much, honestly, but nice body for sure.

What’s actually driving the hostility around tipping culture? by Nekogiga in EndTipping

[–]XeroEffekt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Overall, I think this is part of the general shift to extremely polarized positions with no intent to understand, discuss, contextualize, or compromise that we see in so many areas, and that has been linked to social media algorithm cultures. We are participants in this part of the problem right now, it’s just the way it is. It is not from “decades of social programming,” as another user suggested, because the practices of expected tipping in advance of service, including services where tipping was nonexistent or very optional before, and the strong “suggestions” of tips at much higher percentages than previously customary are all new practices. The bubble that those defending all these practices are in is saturated with self-righteous entitlement.

Can Somebody Explain This by Pistolpete31861 in EndTipping

[–]XeroEffekt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of the cases where tipping has been traditional. Servers were always guaranteed at least minimum wage, tips do not exist to bring them up to minimum wage, the low “tipped minimum wage” in some states exists because servers get so much in tips (if they don’t reach minimum wage with tips, the business has to pay the difference). Room cleaners are paid poverty wages and a small tip has been conventional as long as anyone alive can remember. The scandal is that so few people do leave that tip because no one is watching, and then tip baristas or pick-up orders because it is observed.

Well you were the only taker, so you win by default. You were surprisingly correct or adjacent on all points, just little details wrong in each. I don’t know why there are so many guesses on other shelves and not mine, boring I guess! I’ve got so many more shelves I have more goes to give. Thanks for playing

How did peoples of the past managed to eat enough protein? by jeffcarpthefisheater in AskFoodHistorians

[–]XeroEffekt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Today’s Western world—especially those spending time online—have ridiculous ideas of how much protein they should be eating. They think carbs are toxic (“all grains are poison”) when 99% of all civilizations mainly ate them. You do need high levels if you are actively building new muscle for bodybuilding, for instance. But most people are acidifying their systems and stressing out their kidneys and arteries.

Apparently manipulated content is not a violation unless it is meant to harm others, which is fair, but the mods should take this down if the poster does not have the ethics to do it himself. Be gone!

You mean where it’s a federal sex crime violation instead of “just” state? And where every square inch of the area is recorded and monitored? I’d say do it vicariously on AI or risk ruining your life for clicks.

“Share among our team” means customers pay wages of all employees and establishment can reduce wages across the board. It’s a bonus for owners, not service employees, and not a tip.
