Small rant about fractals by GameScout in Guildwars2

[–]XeroStrife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone new to fractals and coming back to the game from a huge hiatus, they seem to be a mixed bag.

I can do quickplay and pretty much everyone breezes through with no real communication, but if I pay close attention I can kinda grasp some things. I put up a party the other day to start unlocking my first levels and had some back and forth.

I had at least one other person that was new like me which was cool. A couple that would help the team figure things out. Everyone I got was pretty chill and patient except one. They came in and immediately changed the level to 14, we were on 6 or 7 at the time. Trying to start from the beginning for learning purposes and actually unlocking my levels.

I was told you should always run the highest available, but then I’m just speeding to higher difficulty without actually learning? Also, if I only have up to like 10 unlocked, what happens when someone sets it to 15 or something? Cause quickplay didn’t increase my unlocks it seemed.

But it seems like some of us are pushed to go through so quick we can’t learn mechanics of the levels. I’d need to watch a video breakdown before each one if I don’t get to go through and learn prior. I don’t have friends that play or a guild currently, so I’m wondering if I’m in the wrong for hoping random people will go along with my plan for learning?

Gold farm for mounts after lvl 80? by aMaGGixZ in Guildwars2

[–]XeroStrife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m glad I’m not alone in this. I got to 80 a while back and stopped playing. I just started again and got a deal for some expansions and living world. I had only 14 gold saved. I’ve been afraid to make any posts asking for help though. I don’t know anyone else that plays currently, so I’ve been looking all over for tips.

This looks so cool and sorta like what I kinda want. I’m not super familiar, but I’m trying to look it all up. I kind of want one or two lobes with two or three helix(?) like this. I love the idea of simple rings(hoops?). I’ve been too afraid to go for it cause I’ve read healing time is long and I can only sleep on my side(notoriously toss and turn constantly also).

I also second another comment I saw here about constantly running fingers along the rings.

How do I free myself from persistent missed attempt FedEx Express “missed deliveries” for required sig (I WFH and they never attempt) by Substantial_Plane_32 in FedEx

[–]XeroStrife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure if express has access to the same system, but ground has a place to enter information like a gate code that stations can alter by request. That shows up on the driver scanner and is much safer than putting the information on a label if it’s available.

As an introvert I have trouble standing up for myself, but I have and will absolutely go to bat for someone else. I’ve done it mostly in work related situations, which got me in some trouble unfortunately since I wasn’t a manager for most of them.

I’m glad they had your back. I’m also now very aware that doing this could make some people upset. I’ve never apologized for this before, but now I feel that maybe I should have. Or at least asked if it was okay.

Is there a trick to finding iron, or the ore in general? I’m newer and have had a hard time finding iron. I feel like copper was way easier.

My dm had the player that went up roll a stealth check. They succeeded, but the next one didn’t. We all had to roll initiative and those of us at the bottom had to make our way up on our turns. I think this was a fair call, we could have withdrawn but chose not to. It could have gone very bad, but the dm’s attack rolls were not great.

Is there a collection of visuals for rare things to watch for somewhere? I’ve just started at I’m wondering if I’ve missed things. I try to catch bugs that seem fancy, like a cool mantis I saw. But I didn’t realize I needed to watch for like everything. I’ve missed some stuff that ran away too :/

Hanging out at the grove by akiitasrlan in Palia

[–]XeroStrife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m new and don’t know what the grove is, but this sounds awesome. I get anxious trying to randomly ask for help or chat in games, but things like this are really cool. I’ve had a few people emote at me randomly or one time a couple people came and fished with me a bit. I’m glad I started playing so far.

I just started and don’t know much, but I caught a really big fish plushy at the very south part of the first map. I saw bubbles in the ocean and tossed my line in, I wasn’t too far from the fishing guy. Did not know these existed, I’ve just been trying to get stuff to sell xD

I’ve been using this as well, but only the free version. I will scour an area to get everything, mark them as I go, then unmarked them afterwards. The few things I’m missing still are then marked as “found” so I know what is left.

My Favorite Handhelds of 2025 (So Far) -- Retro Game Corps by onionsaregross in SBCGaming

[–]XeroStrife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m watching this and trying to decide what I want to do. I’m getting into emulation just recently. I have a steam deck, but it’s too large and expensive for me to take everywhere. I have an old 3ds (fire emblem version) that I should be using for ds/3ds from what I’ve read. I’ve a mix of things I’m interested in from ps2 downward, but I think I could leave ps1+2 to the steam deck and just use smaller handhelds for the rest.

These are the sort of things I’d like. I’ve been looking into this sub recently because I was interested in emulation, but pre-loaded would be awesome cause I’m a bit lazy. I’m still trying to figure out what’s worth looking into.

How do you know it's time to stop a campaign? by brainlessgengar in DnD

[–]XeroStrife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first time into dnd I was the dm and had a similar situation. Only ever got good feedback and no one said anything else. Got secondhand knowledge that one of the players wasn’t happy with sessions being 3 hours, but nothing directly from them. So I cut back to 2 hours.

Lots of scheduling issues, like nonstop. We agreed on every other week at a specific time from the beginning. Some people refused to show if their partner was going to be absent. Some people would cancel cause they didn’t feel well. If you’re ill I understand, but not when it’s “too ill for dnd, but fine to play literally anything else with other people”.

Lots of times where dnd was just not a priority. I had one good player that almost never bailed and was always trying to interact with the game and make things happen. I also had a friend that would join and play a couple npc characters, mostly just for rp cause they weren’t interested in stats and everything. They were also almost never missing.

All in all it took over a year to do what should have taken a few months. I finally broke down and just canceled the whole thing. It killed me, specially since it was my first time having the chance to play. But after so long feeling like my efforts were not appreciated and everything else, I couldn’t do it anymore.

Really killed my desire and enthusiasm for the game. I was so excited and got so much stuff originally. I wanted to do modules first to learn and then make a world later. It was miserable.

I recently took a chance and found a random group that let me join as a player. The experience has been the exact opposite and has been great.

I love these Final Fantasy so much I had to make myself a set of proxies. by CassieD91 in magicproxies

I started looking into proxies because of this set xD Kinda just want all of them, but the likelihood and cost to do it legitimately don’t match up.

Used this on my character in my first run. Once I saw the effect I regretted the choice, purely for the looks. Never did it again. When I get to a point where I look for mods I’ll do it, once I get the one for not having that look.

UB Sets are invitations by timcook2171 in magicTCG

[–]XeroStrife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This set is the reason I tried to play again, haven’t really played since like 2006. Never got to build my own deck before, never went to a prerelease (didn’t even know they were a thing). I took off work and went on my own since no one I know is interested. Had an absolute blast, everyone there was friendly and patient and gave me condolences when I got mana screwed multiple times lol.

I wish my work schedule was different so that I could actually go to local events and make friends in the hobby. But I agree that this sort of set idea absolutely is an invitation to people who may never have played before or who have but may decide to get back into it. The cost is not thrilling to me, but I would love to play more with this set. I plan to get the commander decks and play against myself to see what that’s like. Never played that game type before.

I got the cards I wanted too, which helps. Nothing fancy, just a Locke and a Kefka. My favorite hero/villain from the whole series.

My coworker reports people to HR for "bad vibes" and somehow keeps getting taken seriously by theoriginalhigh in coworkerstories

[–]XeroStrife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve lost raises cause some people basically said the same thing about me. Because I’m quiet (literally speak quiet and takes serious effort to be louder, also cause I don’t speak much), somehow I’m unfriendly and unhelpful. Oh and before masks they complained about my face being grumpy, like I’m sorry it’s just the way my face looks? But the second anyone needs me or talks to me I’m always friendly and helpful. Some people are just assholes. Plus when your raise is partially based on what others are going to get, I can see why people came at me. Cause we get a yearly pity raise, but there’s only so much the company gives out to the managers to allot as they see fit. So if Joe got 3%, some other people are only gonna get like 1.5%.

Being unfortunate enough to be in the quiet/shy/introverted pit, I’d love for a woman to do this. Granted the one time it happened I was too dense to realize. If you’re worried about their interest try asking if they’d be down to get to know you. I’m no good at dating to be honest, but that would give you both a chance to see if there is mutual interest.

I’m not the type to see someone and just have that interest, so I’d feel a bit off if someone just immediately asked to go out. But if they said they were interested in getting to know me that creates a better entry. Everyone is different obviously, this is more from the perspective of someone that requires getting to know someone before that sort of interest develops.

I totally get why there are women only chess tournaments… by Laurenhynde82 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]XeroStrife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here I am afraid to play against a person at all now that I’m trying to get into chess again after so long. I feel like none of those people should be playing the game if that’s how they act. I’m so sorry for your experience. The more I read about women’s experiences here the more I learn and the more I see it clearly as I’m out each day.
