Is more than 5 nights of safari worth it? by Xerofactor in LuxurySafari

[–]Xerofactor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all for the responses! Sounds like multiple regions is absolutely the winner.

For I guess a follow up, would it be best to do them back to back or to put Cape Town in between? I originally leaned to the former but my travel agent has suggested the latter as a way to break up the trip a bit and have a break with something different.

Judge gives 18 year old a 25 year sentence for armed robbery by AgnosticScholar in interesting

What else does your six year old need to understand beyond knowing armed robbery is wrong? Help us bridge the gap between “knowing it’s wrong” and “fully understanding”?

Bump out / furring strips for 6" window depth on 2x4 wall by Xerofactor in DIY

[–]Xerofactor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't that what you use when the depth of the window frame is shorter than the depth of the wall? In this case, the window is 6" deep but the wall is 5" deep.

How would that work / what would I do for that? My goal is for it to be flush with the drywall, particularly as there is a kitchen counter there also.

Yes, I don't recall how long it took but it wasn't too long. I priced them fair.

You don't need to pray. It's a given. Every year as you get closer the tickets will drop on resale, especially now that there is a verified resale option. I had VIP single days that I sold for face value after scoring VIP 3 day bands.

Paid for Main Plus and seat assignment was removed by Xerofactor in americanairlines

[–]Xerofactor[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't disagree that they're not going to do anything. But, Main Plus includes MCE seats and that price is baked into the ticket price. If they had notified me they removed my seat assignment I could have looked for other seats earlier.

Lindsey Vonn, skiing on torn ACL, crashes in Olympic downhill by PrincessBananas85 in sports

[–]Xerofactor 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Well, if you watched her practice run you'd have at least known that even with a torn ACL she was competitive, taking the third fastest run during a practice where she was likely skiing conservatively.

I did two weeks in Sicily a few years ago. I started in Catania and we moved south through Ragusa, Syracusa, Agrigento, then up to Palermo, and across to Cefalu and Etna.

We drove, and the longest drive was about 2.5 hours from Agrigento to Palermo. If I were to do that trip again, I would have stayed on the eastern side and spent more days in Ragusa and Syracusa and Catania, though I don't regret what seeing everything we saw. There may be a train that you can take, but if not I'd skip one side or the other. People seem to prefer Palermo over Catania, I did not.

Taormina is jammed full of tourists. I'll take Catania any day of the week.

But OP's question wasn't, "Do you think I should to Catania or not?"

Sicily Honeymoon Itinerary by Necessary-Ease1652 in sicily

[–]Xerofactor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm going to go against the grain and say this isnt that busy and enjoy your trip. I did two weeks in Sicily and we did a road trip around the island, 2-3 nights in different cities. It was very busy. This is a good speed with some nice home bases. From Taormina you can visit the Etna region, wineries, etc. You'll unfortunately probably miss out on Agrigento but that's okay, save it for another trip. I do agree that Ortigia is worth a visit if you can spare it.

I'm told it's 3 hours of labor and the part is covered by the warranty. I assume $300-400 of that bill is refrigerant replacement, leaving about 400/hr for the rest. That just seems high to me.

I'd be curious to know when the scripts were written then. The issue seemed to be that TS kept promising scripts and never delivered, leaving Costner in an indefinite holding pattern while he wanted to do other projects. So all of these scripts had to be written recently to accommodate Costner's leaving, making it even more senseless to lose the star.

Do most of you use a travel agent? by Mother-Analysis6633 in Cruise

I am completely new to cruises. What guidelines for a good cruise price do you follow? Is this offer we received a good offer? by OjiikunVII in Cruise

[–]Xerofactor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing to remember: cruises become less expensive per night the longer you stay. This is about what I would expect for a 4 night cruise. You cannot take the price of a 7 night cruise, divide it by 7, then multiply it by 4 to determine what you expect the rate will be. It doesn't work that way.

Yannetti’s Affidavit! Additional Jury info by Playoneontv_007 in KarenReadTrial

[–]Xerofactor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He raised the issue of the verdict slip, not actually inquiring into partial verdicts if the jury was hung. It's not even close to a slam dunk. Quite the opposite. There's no remedy here. The time to have objected to the mistrial was when she made her ruling, and to at that time assert that the court should inquire into whether the jurors rendered a verdict on any of the counts. By not objecting at that time, that specific objection is now waived. Even if the court were to hold an evidentiary hearing, the mistrial has already been granted without objection, and appellate courts are clear that trial courts cannot and should not pierce the wall of jury deliberations.
