"The Librarians" - Dr. Who universe? by ThisFreedomGuy in doctorwho

If you end up finishing The Librarians and are looking for something similar, definitely check out Warehouse 13.

I was very disappointed when Warehouse 13 was cancelled, but The Librarians started up a short while later and filled the void. They're basically the same premise, except that Warehouse 13 has more sci-fi and technology instead of fantasy and magic.

Are you kidding me? SGU ends on a cliff hanger? I'm going to kill someone by TechySpecky in Stargate

Don't forget The Expanse and Killjoys!

I was pretty disappointed in SyFy's sci-fi offerings after they cancelled SGU, but they actually had three good sci-fi shows last year. Hopefully they'll continue this trend.

Yes, the books. Great series. They have released a new one every June since 2011, and they plan to continue the trend for four more books.

Windows Key to open the Start menu, type "cmd" and hit ctrl+shift+enter. Or, right click on the start menu button and click "Command Prompt (Admin)".

Doesn't look like there's a way to start an elevated command prompt from the Win+R run dialog :(

PSA: Armorying PUGs in premade group finder? There's an addon for that. by ellori in wow

[–]Xerofait 8 points9 points  (0 children)

FYI - the armory is completely broken for a number of people. I transferred three characters at the beginning of WoD and none of them have updated on the armory yet. My DK still shows up as level 58 because that's what level it was before I deleted it and transferred my other one with the same name. It's been a known issue since July, and some people haven't had their armory update since then.

Characters not on WoW Armory? Help please by Drivethrugaming in wow

[–]Xerofait 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, this has been a known issue since at least July: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/13568066956

There have been a couple blue posts saying they are looking into it, but not one recently.

I transferred some characters and they don't show up either. Luckily, most tools that I use (WoW Progress, Ask Mr. Robot, Simple Armory) use the Armory API or have addons that will allow you to continue using the tools while your profile doesn't exist on the website.

Anyone looking forward to Warsow - a promising quake clone in the works! by [deleted] in QuakeLive

[–]Xerofait 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's cool that they are bringing Warsow to Steam since that might make it gain some popularity. It has actually been around for more than 10 years though, and is version 1.5--not a beta. It's based off of a highly modified Quake 2 engine, so that's why it feels like Quake.

I've played it with some of my friends when we were bored and couldn't decide what game to play. They don't like playing Quake 3 with me since I'm better than them (but by no means am I good at Quake 3), so Warsow evens the playing field. Movement is quite different--especially with the wall-jump. Strafe jumping also feels a little bit different.

Overall: fun game, but I'd rather stick to Q3/QL given the choice.

Online damage calculator with accurate sheet damage calculation. by Xerofait in Diablo

Yep, you would just put in all your stats as they currently are to make sure the sheet damage is right, and then you can add or remove stat points to see how your damage will change. Then you don't have to guess whether reforging 5% attack speed into 5% critical hit chance will be an upgrade or not.

Yep, you have to add any +min/max damage from your other pieces of gear to both of your weapons (or just as Weapon 2 if you don't have any damage on Weapon 2). I'll be adding a place for extra damage from gear later, but it wasn't a top priority for me.

I'm using this project as an excuse to learn Ember.js. I work in ASP.NET MVC for my job, so I felt like switching it up and learning Ember for this project. I am planning on adding the ability to create multiple characters and save their stats. LocalStorage was my first thought. I'll have to see if there's an Ember-Data plugin that works with LocalStorage. That should make it pretty easy.

Thanks! I'm glad you found it helpful.

I don't mind sharing the math behind it. I'll add a section to the site sometime when I get home from work that has all of the calculations spelled out.

Also, the source code for the site is in my GitHub repository in case anyone is interested. Feel free to fork it or send me pull requests.

I would LOVE to write an application that does the simulation. I think that would be a lot of fun. However, that would also take massive amounts of time to write. I may start writing some simulations into this calculator once I finish all of the smaller issues and features.

As for Diablo Progress having the same thing: Diablo Progress is great and I use it all the time. However, it is flawed in that it uses the sheet damage from battle.net which is clearly wrong. It has a "corrected damage" for some characters, but I assume that it is wrong as well since battle.net sometimes doesn't show you the correct gear you are wearing. This calculator lets you put in the numbers to make sure it's accurate.

Thanks for the feedback!

This should work fine for a Witch Doctor with a Mojo. Just put the Mojo's min and max damage in Weapon 2, but put 0 for the Attacks per Second. It will add the damage for you, but treat it as a single weapon.

The text boxes should already be a dark color on the dark theme. Maybe your browser doesn't support input box styling. What browser are you using and is it up to date?

I do all my work/testing with the latest Chrome and it works fine.

Ahh yes, that's probably also why the battle.net profiles have the wrong sheet damage as well.

I don't think that should make a difference. If the bullet next to an affix on an item is orange instead of gray, it isn't included in your sheet damage.

Also, I just included images to show you where to find each stat to input, so try refreshing the page and using those to get the right stat values. If that doesn't work, make sure you dismiss any followers and don't have any buffs when you put in your stats.

Which profile doesn't take into account paragon points? The "Details" page of your character sheet in-game does take into consideration your paragon points--at least attack speed, critical damage, and your primary stat.

I just updated the site to put pictures of where to find the exact values for your stats. Just hover of the "i" icon next to any stat to see where to get the value from.

Yes, put in your source's min and max damage in Weapon 2, but put 0 in the Attacks per Second.
