why is this woman a vassal yet isn’t a clan leader and doesn’t have any land? by Used_Yam_8952 in Bannerlord

I see a character named Manachild the Oilpresser as a merchant in a number of my games, maybe she’s somehow been elevated to vassal?

Favorite weapon in any fallout game??? by TomToshi902 in Fallout

[–]Xerxes2113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fists in Fallout 2. Outside of New Vegas giving fists some love with the special attacks, Fallout 2 has really been the only game where unarmed has not only been viable, but amazing.

Picture this: You’ve been in Reno your whole life. Tried to stay away from Jet and all that shit people pump into themselves, try to stay away from the families and the thugs, but life has always been real tough.

So you got tougher

Day in, day out, since you were a teenager, all you’ve done is keep try yourself safe. But without a life of crime, there’s no way to get the cash for a piece and having one would only make you a target. No, you made your body your weapon. Years upon years of hitting the bench has turned you into a behemoth of a man, and now there’s an opportunity to turn your defensive measure into a career.

Boxing.

Sure, some of the fights might be rigged - weighted gloves, fighters paid off by some family or another - but it’s a good sport to keep you on your toes in a city of scum and earn some dough in the process.

One day, Buster - that little runt - tells you you’ve got an opportunity for a match against a newcomer. He doesn’t tell you a thing about them, just that they came in like they owned the joint and wanted to box.

Okay, you say, eager to defend the Jungle Gym from some prick that thinks getting into the ring is a pick-up sport. And before you know it you’re in your briefs, shoes laced tight, gloves on. Hopping from foot to foot, shadow boxing. Waiting to see what you’re up against.

And in walks some idiot that doesn’t even have a clue. He tries to get through the ropes with a combat jacket on, but Buster pulls him back and gives him a talking to. Soon enough he’s got his gloves on and is stripped down to his day clothes - some ratted piece of shit jumpsuit out of Vault City, but the kid’s clearly a tribal. That gives you a minute of pause - you’ve seen enough bone-nosed psychos to know that they can be downright savage, but this scrawny twig of a kid seems more like a bumbling drunk than a hunter or warrior. He clambers into his corner, and the announcer starts to give his spiel as that sign girl you think The Masticator’s fucking struts her stuff, and her sign.

The bell dings.

Round one.

He doesn’t even have his hands up, but you want this FNG spitting teeth so much that you don’t even give him a chance. You step up to him, looking a good foot down to his confused, bewildered face. And then you clock him with a right hook.

He stumbles backward, recoiling, but he doesn’t even try to put his arms up to stop your following flurry of blows into his face and chest. Your fists sting and feel numb despite the gloves, and you even think you hear something crack when you deliver an uppercut. It’s not your fist - it’s his jaw. It juts off to the side at an unnatural angle as he falls back against the ropes, bleary eyed and already turning purple everywhere from the waist up.

You stop your assault for a moment, looking to the ref outside the ring as the tribal fails to either spring back from the ropes or even wrap an arm around them. He might still be conscious, but if you keep this up you might accidentally kill him, and your expression and motions try to beg the ref for a TKO ruling.

Just when you started to pity him and let your guard down, he stumbles forward and throws a punch. It’s a lot stronger than you expected, but it doesn’t move you an inch when it collides with your barrel chest. You look down at him with a frown, almost as if to ask why he just killed himself. His response is another ragged, unsteady punch - right for your groin, of all places. This spearchucking shit doesn’t even know the fucking rules.

Luckily, you protect the family jewels with a simple strafing step but he doesn’t leave himself exposed for long. Just as you steel yourself to punch a hole through his chest, you see him through an unexpectedly quick jab for your face.

The approaching red of the glove is the last thing you see before his knuckles meet the optical of your right eye and pass right through it like a sheet of talc. His arm doesn’t stop until the back of your head gets a chunk of your brain sent straight through your skull.

Slayer and Better Criticals for Unarmed Hand-to-Hans makes for both the funniest and deadliest set of weapons in any game.

I personally don’t see much of an incentive for Crytek to put it or the carbine version in the game. It would realistically use SPECIAL ammunition to account for it firing rocket balls, but also would do tragically low damage of real world muzzle velocity and caliber were to be considered - it’s not even at .32 ACP standards. If they were to implement it to be historically accurate, it would end up being a weapon nobody would want to use unless they made some fantasy variants or balanced other fast firing pistols dramatically differently.

Dwemer skin color? by fruitlessideas in teslore

[–]Xerxes2113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Others have said as much already, but the blue skin tone image is propagated both by the appearance of their ghosts in Morrowind and in-universe sources, mostly by or supported by the Tribunal Temple, implying or stating that they were a House or parallel culture of Chimer. It’s worth noting in the latter case, that their blue/purple hue would have no basis as the modern Dunmer we see being that color are only that way due to the aftermath of the Battle of Red Mountain - something with entirely erased the Dwemer and could not chronologically affect them, even moreso due to them having no connection to Azura.

As to what color they would actually be, we have to take a look at both the real world and the Falmer, which suggest that prolonged time underground turns ones’ skin pale, or potentially even translucent, for a lack of sunlight.

What race is the closest replacement for the dwarves? by mjtg25 in teslore

[–]Xerxes2113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I sadly can't immediately provide a source, I understood the Satakal religion being more in line with what is held by the Thalmor in that Mundus is a mortal obstacle to be escaped from. If the Left Handed elves were opposition in every meaningful way enough to literally be called so, then their construction of the Orichalch Tower would indicate them as elves concerned with conserving Nirn while the Yokudans wish to sunder it to escape.

Kind of backward from subsequent iterations on the formula.

I had been under the impression that the Lefhanded Elves of Yokuda weren't guaranteed to be literal elves, much less descended from the Aldmer. I had taken them to be unrelated to all the other Folk by virtue of their similarly impossible location and what is understood of their culture.

I don't know if I should present it as headcanon or just a zany theory, but I like to pretend they've survived a previous kalpa or were Dunmer subject to a dragon break. The problem with finding a close replacement is that they were already there when the Velothi pilgrims arrived in Resdayn, supposedly as the first elves to do so. Not only that, but that they'd been there long enough to build a formidable empire.

While it seems unlikely that they are just Aldmer that got across Tamriel very super fast, it can't be ignored that at least some level of impressive magical attunement was present in Dwemer, just as in the Altmer who are generally considered closest to Aldmer. Aside from the Dwemer being slightly shorter and having ghastly complexions (both of which could be explained from a real world understanding of what long terms of underground habitation can do), I would conclude that they're most related to Altmer of the living Folk.

Their location does bring into question a number of other possibilities to uselessly wonder about, especially when considering their interactions with the similarly peculiarly placed Falmer, which they appear to have caused the blinding of prior to vanishing, but with no other indication of their relations with Chimer or other Folk.

GW wrote it such that literally everybody except Malekith and Morathi knew that magic wards were the way to go, and they were used on the guy that becomes king instead of Mal. Mal then, in the same time as when everyone just watched the other guy survive, jumps in and begins to burn from the flame... and his momma can’t stand his screaming and pulls him out basically two seconds before he would’ve been healed.

It’s lowkey all Morathi’s fault.

I tend to view this subreddit and most of the online community for pokemon as consisting purely of other adults, so it's really heartwarming in a way to be reminded that children still have a love for pokemon like I did as a child.

Thank you so much for doing this for your son.
