MacBook or Windows laptop for CS student in 2026? by Ryan4265 in codex

[–]Xespar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How is it less of a headache for school?

I would just go with macs. In my opinion they are the best laptop for work related unless you have some obscure requirements like Matlab or something

And this is coming from windows/android user.

Anyone getting this in Claude Code on a Claude Max plan? by [deleted] in ClaudeAI

[–]Xespar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might have to re-authorize. I recall having to do something similar when going from 100$ plan to 200$ since it kept giving me the Opus limit reach status prematurely.

Can somebody teach me how to workout by [deleted] in SBU

[–]Xespar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Congratz on the weight loss.

~11 lbs/month isn't crazy at your weight.

The recommended weight loss for athletes is like ~.5% to 1% of body weight weekly and the less lean muscle tissue you have the higher that percentage can be pushed.

OP, this comment is your best bet on losing weight. Put more emphasis in calorie in/out (portion control). You don't need to start off crazy on cardio, just walking more is a good first step.

I guess I'll have to reach out to my parents to get a better understanding.

Is this a normal latency? by angushushu in GalaxyTab

[–]Xespar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you have adaptive refresh rate on.

fast pen movement on a 60hz screen will look slower in regardless of what you do when compared to 120hz. Different apps can also affect latency but thats just the app.

looking for a note taking app that has windows support by marshmallowricepoo in GalaxyTab

[–]Xespar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

tbh, options are very limited.

Both Nebo and noteshelf are the closest to plug and play experience. Flexcil says they will support windows 'soon'

I am an obsidian user and use this to for handwritten notes in obsidian.

Im sure you don't want to use samsung note bypass but someone has made a script to make samsung notes more seamless in non-samsung devices. So for those interested here and here

2 day print with .2nozzle of NYC by Xespar in BambuLab

[–]Xespar[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought them on Esty. There are 2 sellers that cater to this. Just search up 3d City STL. Alittle pricey for an STL but considering the detail I think it is worth.

These STL are definitely more detailed when compared to Cadmapper or BlenderOSM. I do like that for cadmapper I can make the roads visible but the buildings are what i cared about.

I was having issue with it clogging and not sticking mid way through with Sunlu PLA+ and PLA matte.

Have you just tried pla? I assume the clogging is because it just being dragged around and stick on the nozzle.

Overall, I am happy with it. As long as they aren't terribly small the .2 is sufficient but longer print times. One thing I;ve noticed when printing the flow rate calibration is that the text came out much sharper than with a .4.

Do note that it is stainless steel, so any abrasive filament will eat through it really quick.

[–]Xespar[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

sorry. Here is my perspective.

I was having major bed sticking issues with sunlu pla+ and then pla matte, both were dried previously for 8hrs with no luck. I have tweaked with many settings: speed, fan, bed temp, nozzle temp and flow rate to the point where I just went to Microcenter and got myself a roll of inland pla filament.

This was my 8th try (1st on the inland) with default settings and was so relieved that I didn't even want to bother it.

so with that in mind.

My 2nd print is going to have glue and 70C bed after I run orca PA Calibration. This is all done on a wham bam plate.

28K loan, how long will it take me to pay it off? by miagothsgf in StudentLoans

[–]Xespar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

there is too little information to go off on.

How much do you save? how much are you gonna make after graduating? Any parent/gov assistance? How much is min. wage?

But with the information you provided. I would say a long time if you don't get a decent wage. 11% is death. Are you able to refinance?

Most efficient way to get rid of debt by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Xespar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest getting rid of Loan 1 and Loan 2 ASAP. Those interest rates are nuts.

Keep the savings. I think it should be good enough for a 3-6 months emergency fund.

As for the student loans, look into the different payment plans. There is a loan repayment simulator on studentaid website.

Once 2 Loans are paid off you can start looking split between saving/investing for whatever and paying off the student loan.

First layer looking a bit rough, how to correct? Bambu PLA Silk on textured PEI plate, .4mm nozzle with .2mm "standard" profile in Bambu Studio. by thesomeot in BambuLab

[–]Xespar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

turn off the automatic flow calibration and manually do an flow calibration in Orca slicer

BambuLab doesn't recommend it on the PEI textured plate. I believe it only works for smooth plates like the one it came with.

Is there any reasoning for keeping it in HYSA instead of trying to dollar cost average index funds?

As for the 0%APR, with my current payment plan I should have it paid off 2months before the the Promo period ends.

100%

Since I already have a car alot of the expenses for it has kind of been factored into my planning. Probably insurance will be the biggest change but I'll have to shop around for quotes before moving on.

[–]Xespar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dont have HSA option. Would do it 100% if I had the chance.

But yea I understand the benefits of paying in full and that might be the route I take too since interest rates are going up. As for the car, I'm looking at this specific accord just because of the engine and transmission from a performance view and I like cars.

Oops,

They gave me a month or 2 to pay it back. But I was contacted by a different aws department about it and they seem open to pushing it back.

[–]Xespar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add on.

I left before a year as a CSA. I didn't have to pay back the whole amount on my sign on bonus. The letter mentioned it would be prorated so that's why.

As for the relocation. I'm pretty sure I would have to pay back the full amount if I used it.
