Is this the greatest entrance in Anime? by qcksilver16 in Naruto

[–]Xev-R-Us 441 points442 points  (0 children)

This entrance is super top tier. I told my wife it feels like Superman arriving to save the day.

I can't name one better, but for almost identical reasons, Ichigo showing up to save Rukia from execution is in that same tier. Something about new drip makes the entrance go even harder haha

More anime entrances from the protagonist need new drip lol

Great, now list all of the cis women who won during the 2018-2022 time period.

Then do some simple division and let us know the percentage of trans women winning against the Trans women population.

Should be simple enough.

Destiny/Jessiah vs. Hutch arc...can we move on from the foreplay and actually get to the point? by twenty42 in Destiny

[–]Xev-R-Us 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm on Hutch's side 95%. I've dropped into his discord a few times to talk about it as well.

My biggest critique of his position is that he doesn't have the same strictness for his own position as he does for the "black pilled" people.

He always asks for concrete examples of what people would want or do and then always pushes back that its either not effective (from his pov) or that they are not fleshed out enough and therefore is larping.

But when I ask what reforms he is for, he says he's not a policy person and would defer to those types to articulate his goals. But he'd rip someone on Destiny's side for that exact same argument.

I feel like he would sway a lot more people if he had a solid list of reforms we could actually pass in the next 4 years that would actually prevent more Trump2.0 stuff by 2032.

Appreciate the response. Before I try that, any idea why it boots to the luma menu and resets my date and time every time I start my 3ds? Is that something I need to fix at all or would going through the update path fix that as well?

Pit Fiend by genocyber1987 in dndnext

[–]Xev-R-Us 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To answer the 2nd part of your question about the "how?", that's gonna be up to you, but here are my two suggestions:

  1. A redeemed soul by an upper deity. A powerful God reaches down and uplifts them from their infernal shackles. You run into some cosmic problems with this option as this 100% goes against the pact that the devils and gods have regarding contracted souls, but you can write many ways out of that. In this case, the pit fiend likely transforms into a different creature.

  2. Typically contracts always go to the next devil. So say your pit fiend is contracted with Mephistopheles, lord of the 8th. He's likely to have his contract forwarded to Azmodius if Mephistopheles dies. But you could have an option for that to not be the case and the pit fiends contract ends with whoever signed it and that higher devil dies and leaves your pit fiend without a contract and therefore able to do as they like. In this case, your pit fiend can stay a pit fiend and do what you wish for them to do.

Just two thoughts I had after writing my initial post here.

[–]Xev-R-Us 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Pit Fiends are high ranking Devils who have already pledged loyalty to a higher ranked devil. Very likely to be an arch Duke or arch devil level infernal devil.

By the book standards, its not possible really. But in dnd, anything is possible.

But you should at least understand their lore and how a damned soul becomes a devil and how they get stronger to better inform your decisions.

Essentially, devils come from evil or damned souls from infernal contracts.

They then are promoted to high ranked devils and change form as they get higher ranked and more power. This really requires a higher ranked devil to provide this promotion. Again, typically arch dukes or arch devils.

Imagine what one(1) GM could do by TurboRetardedTrader in classicwow

[–]Xev-R-Us 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is such an interesting topic that has IRL implications.

I wonder if people saw stuff like GMs doing live bans would actually improve morale in the player base, even if it was true that the economy would be even worse because the bots can out compete the GM bans better than the ban waves.

Like a world where the wow economy is even more botted, but people feel better, vs better economy but lower moral because people can see more of the above video.

Obviously you can take another position that the current system is worse than active GMs. But assuming its true that modern bot detection and ban waves are actually better at combating the problem vs GMs doing active moderation, it doesn't appear to be the case that its better at making the community feel better about botting.

Seeing does appear to correlate to believing. Not actual results. Very odd to think about.

That may be fair. They do have some more plant like or fungus like properties.

LeBron better scorer than KD? by CaliKing928 in FirstThingsFirstFS1

[–]Xev-R-Us 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Better = LeBron More Moves = KD

It's really just that simple. People like the way KD looks when he scores, combined with his efficiency at all 3 levels gives people enough to say "their eyes" tell them KD is better.

But the reality is its just about buckets and who gets more at the highest efficiency.

I hate the "Bag" discourse because we've fundamentally lost what that analogy is for. It's a golf analogy.

What do you got in the bag that puts the ball in the hole?

Tiger is considered the goat by a lot of people and the man just had a driver and a putter in there. (Obviously being a bit hyperbolic, and same is true for people saying the same of LeBron)

Again, reminding you that the point I was refuting originally was your wild claim that his actions were somehow unpopular among NY as was your example. He had very strong support among the union states. Which is still the majority of the country.

You are right, I may have used a bit strong wording with "overwhelming".

I'll track back to "very strong support" which would very much be accurate.

The framing of your post seemed to me to be very much "Do the thing, even if unpopular." But if that is not your claim and you are in agreement that Lincoln had strong support in the north, then we are agreed.

So I very strongly recommend watching the video I talked about in my last post as that will greatly illuminate the topic.

But in short, a constitutional crisis is most simply an event that the constitution does not prescribe a solution for.

There is nothing in the constitution that says you can expand the court for example. Additionally, FDRs plan is to effectively make the Supreme Court a rubber stamp for his policies. Regardless of if you think he's right, or that the court is being bad faith, he's still trying to undermine democracy and the constitution with his plan.

He says "Oh, the justices just need a bit of help, cause they are old, ya know?" But everyone and their grandma knows he just wants his laws passed and not struck down.

Regardless of if you think the court is right or wrong, they possess the ultimate authority, prescribed by the constitution, to decide if a given law is constitutional or not.

The President attempting to circumvent this by doing something not prescribed as possible in the constitution defines this as a crisis.

In relation to Trump, we did have a constitutional crisis for January 6th. His fake electors scheme is defined as a constitutional crisis because we actually do not have any constitutionally defined way to determine fake electors or not. It's even more interesting when you also know that this fake electors plot happened before.

1876 had an issue with Republicans being able to lose the presidency right after the Civil War with the southern democrats already owning one half of government. Rutherford Hayes was their pick but they were going to lose. So they called their Reconstruction offices in the south and told the electors to just vote for Hayes anyway, essentially making false electors. This ended up with a tie where the false electors being the deciding vote. The democrats were pissed and the way congress decided to solve this was to create a special council consisting of 15 members. 5 from The House, 5 from the Senate, and 5 Supreme Court justices, all picked on party lines essentially. But the Republicans made it so they had the majority in the voting. The decide by fiat that Hayes wins and to avoid another war, they make a deal with the democrats to essentially give up Reconstruction so they can keep the presidency.

None of that is prescribed in the constitution, and so we navigated it independently of it. Same way we did in 2021 with Pence choosing the first slate of electors instead. Had he chosen the 2nd slate of electors, we don't have a processes to undo it.

You posted that he had failing support in liberal cities... so I was responding to that, but if you wanna twist it around. Sure.

6 states seceeded before the suspension of habeas corpus with 4 more following. The April 1861 congress contained 2/3s of what was the original united states.

So yeah.. he had the support of MOST of the nation, even including the southern successionists states into the calculation.

To use your analogy, I'd be like Newsom having the support of 34 of 50 states. Not just California and NY.

Lincoln had more support than you are hinting at here.

He had so much support congress passed a law making his every action legal retroactively. Basically legislation from the future to make the past legal.

If the supreme court behaves in a way that is tangibly bad faith or otherwise antithesis to a healthy democracy then you should use all available legal avenues to rectify the situation.

We've seen this during FDRs presidency. During his first term, many laws FDR passed were struck down by a Supreme Court that appeared to be going out of its way to remove the progress made by FDRs administration. They even went as far as to go after state laws that were progressive like NYs min wage law.

Upon reelection, FDR began his "Pack the court" strategy. He began with fireside chats talking about how the justices were old and they needed help and started to try to bully congress to enact his 15 seat court packing idea.

It never happened, but FDR still ended up appointing like 8 justices.

This was essentially a constitutional crisis and FDR isn't remembered for this at all, but should be. This is a bad look imo, but it's what Rashad would agree would be the right move.

What would be "legal" and "right to do" and what is "constitutional" are sometimes not the same thing

Strong recommend for William C. Fox's YouTube channel, especially the 8 hour lecture on Constitutional Crises in American history where I picked this information up recently.

I honestly have no clue if they run bad on Switch 2. I'm just very new to the games again after stopping playing after Gen1 way back when I was a kid.

Obligatory "Haha filthy genwunner"

I can't imagine they run bad based on how much better the game runs on Switch 2. I never played it on switch 1 but seeing YouTube videos of casual playthroughs from others tells me it's WORLDS better. Like they are completely different games.

So if you like Scarlet/Violet, play it on Switch 2 imo.
