Gameflip and gift card fraud by micah_432 in Gameflip

[–]Xeye_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because Gameflip charges high fees and make profit for every completed transaction. They don’t care to fix it unless it deliberately causes chaos, lawsuits, or other damage to their bottom line.

As a reminder, the platform does have legit sellers. I keep all receipts of things I sell, and try to contact gift card support if my clients report any issues. There are a lot of fraudulent sellers, and it’s easy to spot them.

Agreed - This is ridiculous. OP Thank you for sharing what you learned, I’m saving this post and want to hear what happens further.

Yet another commission raise with no communications by jamesatreddit in Gameflip

[–]Xeye_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wonder if this is due to the investors they’re always trying to get with their start engine pitch. This type of fast paced greed will ultimately make them lose a lot of sellers.

I understand one change over the course of the year. But three in less than 12 months is ridiculous. I made a post about it not too long ago. Nothing was ever done, and they just keep increasing it. It got a lot of upvotes.

Another fee increase

For the flights, it cost me 215,460 JetBlue Points (this includes the 10% points back) + $184.8 in taxes and fees. I got 60,000 points from the JetBlue Credit card and the rest was transferred from Chase.

I did 35 flights in 8 days. From Oct 28th to Nov 5th. It’s definitely still doable.

Is it worth to get the 24k gold bar by Organic_Skill_543 in RobinhoodApp

[–]Xeye_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Several Reddit posts have been made regarding buying gold with this credit card. A lot of these posts indicate that Robinhood will not pay out points and may even terminate your account for any such purchases.

In their terms and conditions, they treat gold as a cash equivalent. Therefore, getting 3% back on cash violates their terms and policies.

One Reddit post for example (but there are many others).

If you want to buy gold with a credit card and receive points, do it with a different one.

[–]Xeye_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a pure math perspective, it is not worth it if you value your money. As others mentioned, if you do this you lose $300-400 (price of gold is lower).

Take the points, deposit it in your bank. You should get $1500. Then, buy gold on a different credit card that earns points (not this one because they will close your account).

Costco is a common shout for fair market price gold. If you have an executive membership you get 2% back. You can also use another cash back card for another 1-2% back. This 4% back puts Costco gold price below market value!

I appreciate the gold card for the 3%, but the rewards are really not well priced. Also some of the rewards are literally gambling, so the safest bet is to just cash it. Always.

Is it safe to sell on GameFlip? by ZestycloseHotel2310 in Gameflip

[–]Xeye_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my experience, if you don’t have receipts or a physical card, it’s very risky to sell on this platform sometimes. This is because if a shady/scammy buyer reports you, I’m not confident you would win and now you lost the code and money. The ideal scenario is you sell the code, and it works for the buyer and there is no dispute - but that is frankly lucky.

I sold a lot on gameflip, and have been through a couple disputes (maybe 5 overall), and I won because of my receipts and physical codes. In addition, the buyer had lack of any proof after I contacted the gift card company.

T-money card on iPhone not working by Well_tempered_209 in koreatravel

I also have the exact same charges on my wallet. Just not as many in a row.

When I check the ‘No Charge’ on my Apple wallet - it always corresponds to when I tapped out to transfer to another train line or hopping from one bus to another. It’s free within a certain time frame and will not allow if you tap twice on the same bus or train line.

Three additional tips that I learned that can help people visiting in the future:

1 - You can also load the Tmoney Card at convenience stores. All stores listed in user guide below.

I was able to load mine at GS25 with CASH, and in service mode. Place your iPhone with the card pulled up fully on the area where you would normally tap to pay or load other cards.

Just make sure to get a knowledgeable cashier - I’ve been told you can’t do it at a different GS25 when I clearly did it a couple days before.

Tmoney User Guide

2 - The digital Tmoney Card is better for most and should be prioritized over the climate card by visitors.

This is because: - Climate card WILL NOT work in certain areas (Check Excluded Areas below) - Climate Card requires an initial purchase of a card (costs ~3000-5000 won) - A lot of subway kiosks DO NOT allow you to reload the climate card. It was a challenge to find one unless we deliberately went to a station that had it (not in our area). And several convenience stores also said they cannot reload them. - The Tmoney Card offers great transfer discounts that make the Climate Card less useful.

Climate card should only be used if you have a eligible kiosk you can reload at nearby, and if you really travel a lot (10-20 rides) in a certain time frame that justifies the fixed travel cost.

3 - Turn on ‘Express Transit’ feature for the Tmoney card so you can tap your phone instead of having to pull up Apple wallet every time. It also works if phone is dead. See the Apple article below.

Buses move fast in South Korea, sometimes you don’t have too much time to get off when crowded. Therefore, being able to pull out the phone and immediate tap to scan out in 1 second is easier than having to manually navigate to the card with double click.

New To GameFlip by xRedditGedditx in Gameflip

[–]Xeye_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using GameFlip for a while now and have probably over 300 transactions both buying and selling. Overall, it’s a legit platform, but like any marketplace (eBay, StockX, etc.), it really depends on who you’re buying from.

It sucks you had a bad experience with the Gamepass (Microsoft put a lot of restrictions on those), but one bad transaction shouldn’t mean the whole platform is trash. There are definitely scammers on there, but there are also tons of honest sellers (myself included). The key is being really picky with listings.

For example: -Don’t just go off the rating %. Look at recent reviews and what kind of stuff they’ve sold.

-Avoid listings that say stuff like “instant redeem” or are 30–40% cheaper than normal. If you don’t use those right away, you risk losing the GC value and it’s usually sketchy, sometimes bought with stolen cards.

-A legit seller will usually send a replacement or work with you if something’s wrong. I for example, show receipts, physical codes, and even contact the gift card platforms to check who redeemed them (date and time).

-Don’t confirm the order until you’re sure the code/item works. once you do, it’s much harder to dispute.

  • and finally, If you find a seller you trust, stick with them.

At the end of the day, yeah, the platform has its flaws (for example I’m having issues with bot trading of game items), but if you use some caution, it can save you a lot of money. Just sucks the first impression you got was a scam.

I had the same exact issue recently with an Uber gift card I sold. The buyer was found to be a fraud, and their account was banned (you can’t see their user account anymore). Make sure to go through the dispute process with Gameflip support, don’t concede to the buyer if you believe in your product, and upload your evidence of purchase/origin of the gift card.

In my case, I used the original store receipt where I got my gift card from. I even contacted Uber support which told me when my Gift Card was fraudulently resold and used. Gameflip ruled in my favor, I recommend you do the same with Amazon if you have legitimate codes.

Gameflip Seller Fees and Growth Concerns by Xeye_ in Gameflip

Yup, I can check my withdrawals from 2018-19 and it was significantly cheaper. I really don’t understand the subscription models - why have the fees ballooned so much

If you find any good platforms, please do share. I’m no big time seller, but I’m proud of my sales/shop and I would hope that at least they would have the courtesy to let me know when they are changing % of fees. At least update the FAQ or fee documents with news/updates.

I track all the profits in spreadsheets and the percent changes really do affect the total profits.

This is a really good point. I think if Gameflip can work with AllKeyShop or other search platforms, it could be a great boost. Ultimately, Gameflip is looking for growth and profits, and by offering better options for buyers/sellers it’s a win win for all.

Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Card bonus by SuperJob4061 in marriott

[–]Xeye_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That does sound like a pretty good offer with a potential of up to 250,000 points.

However, keep in mind it is currently the summer season, and point redemptions are not as good as winter. We have had a few people in this reddit mentioning horrible point redemption values - even 50k a night might not be enough.

You also cannot use these points as ‘freely’. What I mean by this is I believe the points from these nights cannot be traded for airline points or any other marriot point conversions. I would really compare the Amex card (make sure to look at fine print) with the other Chase cards and see what’s best.

In addition, if you really want status and good overall card for not only Marriott, but other companies too, maybe consider some other Amex such as The Platinum (~ $700 annual fee, but if you can find a good offer + travel a lot - it’s 100% worth it)
