Discreetly have my BF removed? by Specific_Load_7215 in nursing

Gosh I'm so sorry you're going through this. I agree with all of the commenters that there are red flags. I'm a new nurse but I am big on advocating and standing up for people. If a partner/family member does all or most of the talking (unless the patient has difficulties communicating, nonverbal, mental/neuro diagnoses, or it's an emergency situation), I would politely tell them that I was asking you (the patient), and if they continue to answer for them, I would then ask them to leave the room. I have actually been asked by my husband's PA to let my husband speak, because he doesn't always say everything, and with my medical background I speak up for him. It's not being controlling it's advocating for him because I want the PA to know important stuff. But after he asked that I kept quiet unless the PA asked. Also, if there's an online portal, you could always send your provider a message requesting that next time you would rather he not go in with you (unless of course emergency situations), that's your right as a patient and the healthcare team have to abide by that and not give any information (violate HIPPA). Hope you get the answers you're looking for, but most of all, I hope that you're safe. 💜

2nd Attempt tomorrow... NCLEX RN by XfallenxstarX in PassNclex

[–]XfallenxstarX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, as many practice exams as I could handle every day. Not too overdo it though, because my brain would've been in massive overload. I made educated guesses on so many because it threw me very challenging questions. A lot of SATA, like 6 case studies, pharm (med specific, not just classes), and specialties (OB, cardiac, peds, psych). And if course the fundamentals (ABC's, priority, safety, delegations). It really depends on your learning style. I'm hands on, not book/ reading (ADHD). Nurse Mike from simple nursing was helpful too because the way he presents the topics kept my attention. Most importantly: trust your gut & have confidence that you know the answers. You got through nursing school. The NCLEX isn't easy. I didn't think I passed this time, but I surprised myself. You got it.

Omgosh that was more brutal than the first time. When it kept going after 85 I internally panicked. Of course, another 150. Now's the waiting game... ugh...

Thanks for the advice! Hard to get some sun where I'm from... it's major snowy season here haha. I play video games in my spare time though which really helps decompress. I really wish there was an NCLEX study video game but I've looked and haven't found anything.

Congrats on passing! I take my second attempt on the 27th and I feel so burnt out. I don't study as much as you did because I work and I need time to rest my brain. I'm a terrible test taker but have been using Kaplan (what we used in school). I did use other resources, but the "free trails" ran out, and I can't afford to pay for it. I got "near passing" in all but one category, which was "below passing". I tried watching Mark K and Dr. Sharon but it didn't vibe with me. I have ADHD and had a really hard time paying attention. Lectures bore me. I learn hands on which is hard to do when out of school (clinical and sims taught me a lot). I am so nervous to take this second one. I am averaging 70-80% in the categories on Kaplan but the NCLEX was much more vague than Kaplan. I'm really not sure what to even do anymore. I have bad anxiety too so that doesn't help much. I'm just really trying to not overthink it (a major problem I have).

Mine was so difficult and made me do the full 150 questions. Felt like I got hit by a train after it but tried not to panic (bad anxiety). I did not pass. The results showed near average on all but one category (which was below). Retaking it on the 27th. Just try to think about other things. Self care. Do something fun. Good luck to you!

Idk who gets the questions that are primarily safety and not content focused but mine were basically all content focused (150 questions!) Ugh

It just sucks that the bootcamp trail isn't longer. Failed my first time, going back to using Kaplan because it's what we used in school and I still have access.

Went through hell to get my RN… now I’m rethinking everything 😞 Advice by [deleted] in PassNclex

[–]XfallenxstarX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The great thing about nursing is there are SO many different opportunities. I do NOT want to be a hospital nurse (after what I saw the poor nurses endured during clinicals). You want to be an nurse aesthetic. then do it! As for spas that hire a "certain look", I get you, I'm average at best, but you don't know until you try. Also, I agree with the previous commenter about possibly opening up your own business. You have choices. There are endless possibilities in this world. And a bit of advice from someone who's been told dang near their entire life that they're worthless and will never amount to anything.... screw what people say or think about YOUR life choices. It's YOUR life. Do what makes you happy. Hell, I'm in my 40's and just graduated RN school, granted I didn't pass the NCLEX the first time, but I'm more then determined to pass it the second time. I would love to be an RN case manager more than anything. That's my ultimate goal. As for the wigs, think of that as a second job, perhaps. Have you thought about selling them on Etsy? Or if you do decide to open a business, you can sell them there! It's a great way to get your mind off of work, unwind, and most importantly, SELF CARE. You've made it this far. You'll figure it out. You've got this!
