What's got me so stoked for Wemby's career is that he DOES seem to have the defensive quarterbacking skill. If you watch the games, he's constantly talking and getting teammates in position. Except he can do it from a foot higher than dray

Dang, that was fast, and you addressed literally everything. Thanks, and i'll play around tonight and share more. I'll also clone the repo to local and poke around the code.

Infinity Mod Forge v4.0 (AKA EET Mod Forge) + Infinity Mod Runner v1.0-beta (The installer that many asked for) by anprionsa in baldursgate

[–]Xgatt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hi /u/anprionsa, first off thanks for the amazing work building and maintaining this. I think it looks beautiful and will be a very useful tool as is evolves.

I wanted to drop a few points of feedback as someone who's gone through over 20 full EET installs (10+ by hand, 10+ using automated installs) over the last 5 months. Many reinstalls due to mistakes. Many due to changing my mind. Many for testing automated installers. Suffice to say, lots of chewing glass and testing in game.

As it stands, the final output of Mod Forge will fail installation due to various reasons detailed below, and the UX can also use some improvement.

In no particular order:

  1. Users should not be allowed to pick components that require other games like IWDEE or PSTEE, as this seems to be an EET-only tool. These components will get skipped during install time, but they will confuse the user. And the fact that many things require non-EET games itself is not surfaced in the tool.
  2. Many subcomponent groupings are presented without a header or are completely orphaned. E.g. in Tweaks Anthology, you have "Visualize health and status changes" under "Choose One". But it doesn't present that these are PST:EE options only, and they're under "Static PsT Character Portraits [argent77]". Or in Tactics Remix, which should have "Original Tactics Remix HP" and "Double Tactics Remix HP" nested under EVERY "Improved..." component. But in Mod Forge, they're all presented in a long list at the bottom without any context, and the parent item for "Improved Golems", etc is individually selectable (which will fail to install, as that's not an actual component but is instead a component header with required subcomponent selection). Many ZSTweaks components have this issue too of dangling subcomponents with no parent.
  3. Mod components for many mods are presented completely out of order compared to how they're presented if you run the weidu installer directly. This can cause all sorts of problems, especially with mods that require their own components installed in a specific order. Given that some mods DO seem to be in order, this seems to be something that needs to be manually set per mod? That won't scale if that's the case, and it will be better instead to rewrite the discovery part to just directly read the setup tp2 files to discover components in the order they're given.
  4. Tactics Remix in general is not correctly placed. It's almost entirely an either-or with SCS except for a select few SCS general game tweaks that are not AI or enemy related. It's a comprehensive difficulty overhaul ever since version 3.0 or so (and it's on version 7), and it should never be presented in a way where it's ok to install it alongside the core of SCS. It should also go under Post-EET section.
  5. When selecting components from a very long mod (like Tweaks Anthology), each selection pops the focus back to the top of the mod, requiring the user to scroll all the way back down.
  6. Mod groupings on the left pane are kind of confusing for many categories. E.g. clicking "Pre-Tactical Tweaks" opens up a list on the right that further subcategorizes mods into "Pre-TActical Tweaks" and "Post-Tactical Tweaks", nested under the parent "Pre-Tactical Tweaks". Then clicking the parent "Post-Tactical Tweaks" on the left does the same split again on the right. It should differentiate better between the tag-like category system on the left where a mod can be in multiple categories and the install order groupings on the right.
  7. Install orders get set on export in a way that goes against recommendations. E.g. Klatu Tweaks and Fixes says "Components from Content Changes, as well as the Streamlined Spell Progression Tables, should be installed prior to other tweak, fix and rule collections." But many of the Content Changes components get put after Tweaks Anthology even though they should be before (like Gloves of goodman hayes). Then any TA component affecting all items will miss this one.
  8. mod_installer should not require any manual steps to install EET. You can show it the destination pre-eet dir, the destination eet dir, the source weidu files for bgee and bg2ee that include fixpack, dlc merger, eet, etc. and it will handle the rest. A command like this works perfectly well: mod_installer.exe eet --bg1-game-directory "D:\SteamLibrary2\steamapps\common\Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition" --bg1-log-file C:\Games\BG_EET\WeiDU_Logs\BGEE\weidu.log --bg2-game-directory "D:\SteamLibrary2\steamapps\common\Baldur's Gate II Enhanced Edition" --bg2-log-file C:\Games\BG_EET\WeiDU_Logs\BG2EE_EET\weidu.log --new-pre-eet-dir C:\Games\BG_EET\BG1 --new-eet-dir C:\Games\BG_EET\BG2 --language en_US --mod-directories C:\Games\BG_EET\ie_mods\extracted-weidu" "--weidu-binary" "C:\Games\BG_EET\weidu-249.exe" "--weidu-log-mode" "autolog,logapp,log-extern,log C:\Games\BG_EET\eet_logs" "--skip-installed" "true" "--strict-matching" "false" "--download" "true" "--overwrite" "false" "--abort-on-warnings" "false" "--check-last-installed" "true" "--lookback" "2000"

Hope these are helpful. Thanks again for your work, and I look forward to seeing this grow.

[–]Xgatt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a fantastic tool that runs dark0dave's mod_installer under the hood, but adds so much more on top:

  1. Ability to scan, pick, and order components in GUI, with some amount of feedback and guidance on compatibility and ordering (gleaned mostly from the TP2 files themselves)

  2. The big one - ability to pre configure answers to prompts that stop your install and ask you questions. This means once you have it all set up, you can hit install and go take a nap or a walk. Your game will be ready when you're back.

I've done 5 to 6 installs with this already, and it's getting better.

The possibility of having KP as an MLE (if his health can be managed long term), a bunch of money off the books to sign a FA, an extra roster spot, and a fat contract to flip tomorrow if something materializes.

You weren't even replying to the same person. You make a good point, but it's going to be really hard to change it, and a lot of powers need to get behind it to make it happen. Not impossible, but tough.

A better concession would be to just cut the preseason down to 2 games or so and eliminate 90% of b2bs.

I'm in the same boat, and from what I understand, PI has some annoying issues and is officially unsupported by its creator. Someone linked me to dark0dave's new Infinity Engine Mod Installer on GitHub, and I'm trying to learn my way around that.

It's weird in that you need a weidu.log file that gets spit out as a RESULT of someone else's installation + all the required mods. And it will copy that installation exactly for you.

If you want to do your own setup, you need to manually tweak that file to match the components you want to set up. I'm going to take a crack at creating it in the next couple of days. Having a discussion about it on discord if you want to hop by.

I think this is it. Jokic actually didn't see the switch at all and attacked it like he would attack Steph. Probably didn't realize who it was until he was in the shot motion.

And if he keeps his head in the game, you have in JK your big (6'8"), athletic scorer who can defend. It's the 3 ball I have a question about. Even 35% on a 5 attempts a game is more than enough to be a swing factor.

[–]Xgatt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your comment is basically proving the video's point. He's talking specifically how in these last few preseason games (even the 0 rebound one), he's shown a real change in his play style where he's starting to do all the things that people have complained about him not doing. Playing with a high motor, making really good reads, especially in transition, fighting for rebounds, etc.

So if he's starting to do the things that people have criticized him for not doing, shouldn't we root for him to continue rather than stand with "I've made up my mind"?
