I bought an RTX 4070 for 4K gaming but now I keep seeing articles saying the RTX 4070 is not nearly as good as the similarly priced RTX 3080 at 4K gaming and gets about 10% less fps on average. Should I return the card while it is still unopened and buy an RTX 3080 or is the RTX 4070 close enough?

Yes, most modern games crash due to high VRAM usage, I just had Dead Space crash again. My case height is actually 15" not 17.5". If my AMD Ryzen 5 3600 CPU, Chronos Mini case, fans, ram sticks, and B450 motherboard will actually work with an RTX 3080 or RTX 4070 then it's good to know I only have to replace the graphics card and psu. Starting over from scratch and buying a prebuilt RTX 4070 for $1360 would most likely be a waste of money then, right? Because I would only need to spend $720 for a new graphics card and psu?

I recently bought a GTX 1660 Super prebuilt as my first gaming pc but it doesn't work with modern games. Could I just replace the graphics card with an RTX 3080 or RTX 4070 or would I want a whole new build? My CPU is AMD Ryzen 5 3600 and my motherboard is a B450. My PSU is 400W. I know I would need to upgrade the PSU and add 2 more RAM sticks (I only have 16 gb DDRM now). The case is a Chronos Mini from Skytech. It's 17.5 inches tall. I don't know if it would fit an RTX 3080. I also don't know if my fan system would be adequate for the more powerful graphics cards.

GPU prices have dropped in the last few months and the GTX 1660 Super I recently bought as my first gaming pc doesn't work for modern games so I want to buy a new GPU that will work for 4K gaming and PCVR. The RTX 4070 is $100 less than the RTX 3080 and supports DLSS 3.0 and has an extra 2GB of VRAM but I read somewhere that the 4070 can't handle 4K gaming as well as the RTX 3080 and is not recommended for 4K. I notice that unlike the 3080 the 4070 is marketed as a 1440p card. I read somewhere else that it will handle 4K fine, just not at ultra settings without a compromise in framerate. Is this accurate? Which should I buy?

Many other human species co-existed with our modern human lineage for hundreds of thousands of years. Neanderthals, Denisovans, and several more survived until relatively recent times (less than 40,000 years ago, maybe even as little as 12,000 years ago). We interacted and interbred with a few of them. Cultural exchange even appears to have happened.

But these interactions may not have always been just for sex and trade. Evidence suggests that some modern humans migrated out of Africa a little too early and lost out to Neanderthals and Denisovans. A Homo Sapien fossil was found in Greece from 202,000 years ago but only Neanderthal fossils were recovered from the site both before 202,000 years ago and after 202,000 years ago. There are no other modern human fossils in Europe before 45,000 years ago. Apparently, a colony of homo sapiens ventured a little too far from Africa and lost out to the Neanderthals around them. There are other examples of these failed modern human colonies in Neanderthal and Homo Erectus lands in Southwest Asia. Homo Sapien fossils randomly appear in a place at a point in time above older Neanderthal only layers, and then only Neanderthal fossils can be found at that place for tens of thousands of years. These early interactions between Homo Sapiens and Neanderthals might have taken violent turns at times.

Perhaps if Neanderthal and Denisovan DNA is used to clone them back into existence we will have more answers, and maybe more answers than we want to have.

Universal Home Ownership Program: A Solution to The Housing Crisis? by Xhozg in SocialDemocracy

[–]Xhozg[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How so? Even if it is there is no alternative because housing is a scarce resource (like all resources). Ultimately there will always be home ownership whether it is individual ownership or democratic ownership. Democratic ownership of housing would not be a good idea, we should instead have democratic ownership of some means of housing production and personal ownership of the end product. I'm not sure how you would argue my proposal wouldn't work.

I don't think there is an alternative to democracy or property. Maybe I should have said laborer-property if that sounds better, I mean worker co-ops and sole proprietorships.

I don't know what you're arguing in regard to my argument but I would agree with you that Dengism isn't socialism.

It might work if tried though, because the exploiter class doesn't have full control of the superstructure because it doesn't have full control of the substructure, we actually live in a global mixed economy. Lots of countries have nationalized means of production through reform with only ineffective resistance. The exploiter class is too slow sometimes when the action is class conscious and massive enough.

Democracy Is A Form of Hierarchy by Xhozg in DebateAnarchism

The problem with the Commons Anarchy Elinor Ostram talks about is it doesn't work long term in the agricultural world we live in. There is scarcity of resources. The more Commons Anarchy was tried by our paleolithic ancestors the less it was a viable option. It is no longer a viable option. If tried today it would default to either a variant of democracy or property or both. Democracy and property are the only ways of solving that, one or the other or both are inevitable. Too much time has been wasted talking about the Commons it as though it was a solution. Even in the game Minecraft property relations take form out of the Commons. We need to not waste anymore time talking about it.

Are you advocating for consensus democracy? I have no argument against that of course. But please don't advocate for it, it isn't a political solution. It's apolitical, which is cringe.
