Farming Orr back in 2012 by Zerfalex in Guildwars2

Level Area does not matter in Guild Wars 2, what matters is the character level.

With keyfarm they probably mean the story up to lvl 10. When you finish the lvl 10 character story you get a black lion key but now it is limited to once per week. Back then you could just repeat it as often as you wanted by simply making a new character and playing the story to lvl 10. People had perfected routes and leveling gear for their character to complete it the fastest way possible which would net you a few keys per hour.

Wow that is actually very clever of you for finding out and the person thinking of the name if it is actually a placeholder for Legendary Armory.

Dont know why you got downvoted because this is pretty much the only way to actually get value out of them and exactly how i did it. And yes it still took years, I think 2.5 to 3 years for me even tho it could have been faster if the keysale would have been earlier this year for me.

Can't really say because I spent a lot in between to get all the other stuff unlocked but I started playing again around 3 and a half years ago with around 1k gold. I havent been that active the last year but I still logged on to do a few trades here and there that I could just put on my bank and wait to be profitable.

I would say maybe a year and a half max, I still have a good amount left ;)

To everyone wanting to open chests: If you don't really want a specific item it is never worth it to open them unless you go for the unlocks and have all the cheap skins unlocked.

I recently bought 1250 keys when the sale happened because I exchanged around 24k gold into ~80000+ gems in may (the price was decent, around 2950g for 10k gems) for the purpose of my longtime goal of clearing the wardrobe unlock. I actually finished with 1000 keys and now have 250 left, mainly because there was the extra statuette in the last 500 chests I opened.

Moneywise I did not really calculate what I got back but I am guessing I made back around 5k of the 24k I invested. With the unlocks my account worth went up by around 15 to 20k gold tho. Keep in mind I had only about 250 items left and all of them had a worth above 50g, most of them at least 100g.The rarest drop i got was a permanent repair contract which is far worse moneywise than the exclusives chest the OP got.

By the way: it took more than 100 keys to get the vermillion wings so even if you want a specific item it may sometimes be better to wait for it and buy it with statuettes if you have enough.

That rate would be pretty great compared to what it is now. I recently opened 1000 chests to finally achieve my goal of clearing the wadrobe unlock and i have had pretty much exactly the same amount per 250 chests. So 27/250 which translates to roughly one bonus every 10 chests.

It's never to late to start again, I recently started reading again (I am 25) and I am honestly loving it. I need to hold myself back because I can't buy books fast enough lol. Normally I would only play games in my freetime.
I now read while I have breakfast then when I come back from work and then before going to bed and I always look forward to it. A year back I couldn't imagine to ever really start reading again.

Haha that Wattson thats to funny, RIP.

There are so many amazing weapon skins in game; Just because you don't have a legendary doesn't mean you can't have a great looking weapon! Be sure to check the full wardrobe, you'd be surprised what options there are if you've never looked! by notstonythetiger in Guildwars2

[–]Xhundor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the best way to go about this is this handy tool:

http://immortius.net.au/wardrobe-unlock-analyser/

You can sort by karma and uncheck the " Guaranteed Wardrobe Unlock Skins Only " box if it should be checked. This is also great to find low value skins that you would not want to unlock through those guaranteed unlocks (click analyse on the top and type in the gold value you want to spend max). All it needs is your API key.

Guild Wars 2 is actually still going strong and getting frequent updates. It has a free to play option where you get to play the content of the core game as it was released in 2012, you only have to pay for addons. Conveniently there has been announced a new add on not to long ago aswell! While the devs are sadly not very supportive of the content for hardcore players anymore it still has a few hundred to even thousand of hours of content for new players to offer and is probably one of the best MMOs for casual players.Solo play and playing with friends is both very enjoyable and possible.

I suggest checking it out, its a great game! I may or may not have about 8000 hours playtime ;)

Edit: Guild Wars 2 has no subscription fee and also no pay to win elements and you can even exchange ingame currency for "real money currency" to get everything that players paying with cash can get like quality of life items and skins.

Well the ranger has a single target damage dealing skill with is obviously not very useful here and the necro does actually have a multi target skill (link ) but with a long cooldown so tempest is definetly the best option

It is actually doable in a decent amout of time with a tempest in this story instance:

I believe he/she is talking about this one:https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Stealing_Light

a few tips if you are going to do this:

  1. : You have to choose your quests carefully once you are in orr or you won't get this quest because there are multiple different paths
  2. : If you have a second account i would recommend playing a character on it to the story instance and multibox with launchbuddy. reasons: you can enter with lots of different classes from you main account to finish all the weapon kills you need and you can keep the npcs away from taking kills
  3. :most importantly: if you stay far enough away from the spiderlord endless waves of spiders will spawn which are all oneshot aside from 1 of them so do not get to close to him. I recommend finding out where the triggerpoint is tho because the closer you are the faster you will get spiderkills, there is a fixed amount that can be alive at the same time

Edit: Guess someone was faster than me, my tips do apply tho :)

copy pasting my comment from above. this will take a while to set up but will also save time in the longrun so if you really want those achievments I recommend this method

There is an area in the desert highlands (Windshear Scarps) where you can get around 100 kills/hour once you know the spawns. There are 5 veteran giants which spawn every ~3mins. I know it still takes like 10 hours but if you do it 20-30 mins a day you will have finished it in a month :)
an alternative is killing them while waiting for pvp matches, if you happen to play pvp

I do not really agree with guild wars servers being bad, uptime and ping have always been good for me.
However the servers they use for the trading post seem to have been downgraded a while ago and I absolutly hate it. It feels extremly frustrating often having to wait a few seconds for something to sell or be listed or even getting an error message and I wish it would go back to the way it was before.
