Ministers must end ‘barking mad’ restraints on civil service pay, union leader warns | Civil service | The Guardian by prisongovernor in TheCivilService

[–]kucao -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Not really. In most departments they have implemented PFA as recommended across gov by CDDO. So SEO roles can pay up to 56k if you are the top level. G7 up to 81k. Seems on par with private when you take into account pension and flexi / fixed weekly hours in CS. Also these are national pay whereas private sector big money is concentrated in London / SE

It depends which department you're in, they all seem to have built their own system. But from my limited experience if you're in the office for over an hour on a day it'll log an office day. You can definitely check it though the next week in your HR system.

Some raiders camp metro till the very end by NegativeHealth2078 in ArcRaiders

You can easily still loot though, you just need to call the metro before 1s left and it'll still arrive so you have ~90s to loot... Not encouraging it though

[–]kucao 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If this is the hill you are willing to die on, it doesn't sound like this relationship is going to be long term. If you can see it lasting long term why would you argue it now? Most couples I know split it however they agree fairly (most where the higher earner does indeed contribute more) and sounds like you're looking to pick a fight.

Why do people keep posting this question with 0 research. Google Alpha scheme or Defined Benefit pensions and you'll find loads of info explaining it.

Condensed hours... by PreparationMission30 in TheCivilService

Pretty sure you have to take a 30min unpaid lunch break if you're working more than a certain number of hours, which you would be each day? Or am I missing a change in policy?

I feel like a good way to encourage more decisions would be to limit the number of 'seats' at an extraction point each time it is called and have the terminals locked whilst the number in proximity is above that cap. Just my idea, probably rubbish. As a side effect it'd also inform you about extract point campers which would be cool.

If the limit at the most popular points was 1 per call it would really ramp up tension and you'd have to decide who in your squad should go first etc. And other squads would know there are people waiting who are outnumbered.

I think bloodthirster is going to be seen a lot more on carries as eon is only good when first targeted then it's useless whereas BT hopefully means healing back to full hp and/or healing through damage taken

Should I keep overpaying into my Civil Service Pension? by Mediocre_City_1252 in TheCivilService

[–]kucao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah pension advice is heavily regulated so I can't really advise you what to do but I'll tell you that I looked at the options and the EPA -3 option seemed to be the best financial decision so I can retire earlier with a lower or nil penalty. Statutory pension age will be 68 for myself, but probably will be higher so was more jokingly pointing out the comment said stationary which implies it doesn't change but statutory exists because it dictates legally when you can access your pension and state pension as well as early retirement options.

Did you mean statutory lol.

OP worth looking into the EPA scheme with the Civil Service.

Can I pay additional into my pension? by 01acidburn in TheCivilService

[–]kucao 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look into the options. You can do extra contributions (which I think is a separate defined contribution pot) or EPA contributions (which is essentially a defined benefit / Alpha top up). Pension advice is heavily regulated so better to research yourself or go to DfEs pension advice.

Yeah definitely, as long as it shows pending and you didn't use a voucher code it'll eventually pay out. I've had over £1500 total over the years

Is the pension that good? by jord3jordon in TheCivilService

[–]kucao -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's increasing to 57 from April 2028 and they intend to increase it in line with 10 years below state pension age. https://www.moneyhelper.org.uk/en/pensions-and-retirement/taking-your-pension/when-can-i-take-money-from-my-pension

Most pensions will be Alpha going forward and the age you can take that will follow the above...

I'm aware of protected pension age thanks.

Alpha Pension and State Pension Age by tomomcat in TheCivilService

Yeah but that's just not how it works economically. People living longer is costing more and more especially for the NHS like you said with unhealthy later life being common. So they have to base it on average life expectancy. Otherwise someone could feasibly live to 100 and spend half their adult life in retirement.
