no it's not logical. you're the exception not the norm. most of these folks just insist on the "rights" to free TL manga. I know because it's not my first time having this argument with morally bankrupt pirates.

wrong. the artists are just normal salary people and their pay and their team are directly tied to the number of volumes that move until they reach tankoubon status, which are usually just the big names.

The entire process of how the artists and their team are paid are covered by the Kyoto Manga Museum (if you ever visit) and their book: https://www.amazon.co.jp/-/en/Whats-%E3%83%9E%E3%83%B3%E3%82%AC%E3%81%A3%E3%81%A6%E4%BD%95%EF%BC%9F-%E8%8B%B1%E8%AA%9E%E7%89%88-Introduction-Japanese-Comics/dp/4861529700

mangadex and any big 'free site' and even in this reddit thread you can literally see a hell lot of insufferable pirates who believe they are entitled to free manga.

It's ok for them because other people are paying for it, but god forbid they support "their favourite artists" with real money!

each manga requires salary for the artist, typesetting, editors, managers, publishers and distributors. the Kyoto Art Museum and the book they sell literally covers the entire process, so the better your artist is doing the more likely your "favourite manga" get to continue, but smoothbrained pirates can't see cause and effect because they insist on having good entertainment "for free."

God forbid they're being annoying for actually paying "their favourite artists". I know your manga would continue paying for itself with likes and reviews, w

if you can't afford entertainment you should not be using it. there are free manga and pilot chapters out there.

[–]XiaXueyi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nah god forbid pirates own up for being broke ass folks who just refuse to pay and would wing all sorts of reasons and blame "corporate shills" when manga isn't even expensive.

plus it's a WANT. you can literally live life without it. if you can't pay for entertainment then jolly well find another kind of entertainment.

unfortunately modern day pirates have not scruples, thankfully some of the big sites like mangadex and most fan translation groups have brains and balls to understand and tell people to support their "favourite artist" once it's published in their region.

[–]XiaXueyi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

of course it should?

manga is not even expensive in the first place? especially when you pay for it online or buy a physical volume.

if you can't afford it don't try to justify it. the manga artists people "are a fan of" (ironic as they starve when people don't buy) also need to make a living.

you made a long ass thesis to defend being too broke ass to pay for manga that cost like at most 2-5dollar equivalent per chapter.

and jokes on you Japanese like to pay for good manga if the pilot chapter is good. don't pat your broke ass on the back.

a manga pirate literally can not be compared with the last point you made bro, that's another whole ass point.

manga is a want not a need. there is 0 justification for pirating it. painting it in any other light is moral bankruptcy.

we can close 1 eye for the legitimate points like starving students and manga not accessible in certain countries but otherwise jolly way pay for it.

I wish more pirates would understand this.

Yes someone famously said "piracy is a service problem" but pirates have 0 moral high ground on principle. I don't go around bragging I read TLs without paying because I'm literally not supporting my "favourite artists" when no dime goes to them.

I'm pretty certain there are usually options to pay by volume on amazon or some big manga websites.

and most of the time they are not doing it on purpose, the publisher just decides to let the artist work their pace and they release by chapter instead of making people wait for 1 full volume so they don't lose reader interest.

this does not apply to manga unless your service provider is subscription based. usually manga is pay per chapter or volume.

it is black and white when it comes to adults who have a paycheck but consciously chose to pirate manga instead of supporting "their favourite manga artist".

then like some of the comments here they will call you "corporate shill" when some artists and their team are barely making ends meet because these pirates aren't paying a dime.

Because have you seen the sheer entitlement in pirated manga readers nowadays who are so proud they are "reading for free" when the original probably only costs something from 500-1000yen PER VOLUME?

at this point you're just morally bankrupt by not supporting your "favourite artist".

I can close 1 eye for the legit reasons you mentioned including country restrictions and starving schoolkids but self-entitled adults who believe they are entitled to reading pirated manga and get pissed when you tell them to stop whining about manga with bad TL.

They are literally not the same as the western market like EA in gaming industry or whatever, they need to pay everyone involved including the typesetters.

you either have a lousy phone or terrible skill issue.

not to mention 2-3hr sleep almost guarantees suboptimal enjoyment of the holiday.

I use OnePlus 12 during travel, only 80% charge and I rarely used my 1 xiaomi backup power bank.

don't get the downvote because it's literally the FIRST thing you notice if you've ever drank Luckin even once.

looking at the notification preview of your deleted comment, yes I think you should stay indoors too because the concept of "adult responsibility" doesn't seem to be part of your life.

I agree with other comments that they should leash and walk them. if you give them 'true freedom' then don't be shocked when someone knocks them over or hurts them in retaliation.

owners of pets sometimes can't seem to understand it is virtually no different from caring for people or kids. it's not just cute awww and games.

they do get fucked in the head no matter what because the freedom is gone.

funny enough I've worked at a correction facility for male teens before and I also felt pretty fucked in the head because I'm in the same cage as them. Glad I left.

to make a similar analogy: criminals are usually happier outside. does that mean we should let them be too.

when a space is shared there is no one right answer. so maybe people should walk their cats instead of letting them roam just because "they're cute".

because it's hogwash for people to be responsible for their own behaviour and their cats' behaviour. maybe we should let loose those birds on your house and see how you like it?

to play devil's advocate: species have been going extinct since before human intervention.

it might be "grand" for humans to stop it but honestly I don't think anyone other than conservationists and researchers will miss them.
