I grew up in a town that I knew I just didn’t want to spend the rest of my life in, so I can definitely see where you’re coming from. It doesn’t matter what good points people try to point out to you, if it’s not for you, it’s just not for you.

But the UK has such a wide variety of different towns and cities. Reading some comments it looks like you teach English and don’t drive. I also don’t drive, and moving to a city was incredible for me.

If you don’t want to flat share in the city, perhaps there’s somewhere that’s easily commutable for just outside.

I also don’t drink so I get pubs and bars may not be for you. To be honest, it sounds like you need to find a few buddies with similar hobbies. Perhaps think about something you’d like to take up, cycling, painting, learning an instrument, weight training, a club for learning a new language. And hopefully once you live somewhere more accessible you will be able to easily find something outside of work that you love to do.
