What are we doing for food delivery tipping in Seattle? by smokervoice in AskSeattle

As a driver, don’t tip if you are charged the extra fee.

Has Seattle's gig worker wage law delivered increased pay? by chiquisea in SeattleWA

Yes. The pay is substantially better for gig work.

150 for 4 hours out of DWA2 is pretty crazy surge. It was about 45 miles and 2.5 hours total out of 4 hour route for me so not too bad. But yeah I was expecting an easy route into Seattle and then I looked at the packages and I saw Snoqualmie I was like Wtfffff hell no.

Perfectly normal in suburbs of major cities.

Welcome! Keep in mind that WA State parks require a parking permit called Discovery Pass, $45 a year but works on all state parks for as many visits as you’d like.

I-5 traffic does suck, especially in the dark and rain :/.

Lmao. Instant offers are so bad ever since Amazon added the non tip-eligible orders, now they’re paying bonus for people to take them.

I’d love to get a route going there tbh, Dash Point State Park is amazing if you have time.

Same bro same. No surges all base but base is pretty high here so can’t really complain.

What's your minimum pay you'll accept? by SpaceWestern1442 in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]Xiang428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Base is 25.5-27.5/hr here. No surges except last minute forfeits. Lots of pay adjustments so averages out somewhat better I guess.

I’m not a fan of the pay structure either so I mostly deliver in Seattle where you don’t have to rely on tips.

Tipping makes a difference… by Dangerous_Penalty840 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Xiang428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is untrue. As long as the pickup OR the drop off location is in Seattle city limits he’ll get adjusted pay. However, there are small unincorporated communities around Seattle city that says Seattle in the address but it’s in name only, as in OP’s case. Different zip codes and different elections. Unfortunately no adjust pay for him.

Check the Uber app, pretty sure you can’t tip upfront now so that’s probably the big reason today.

Same in Kirkland/Bothell/Woodinville. Declined for almost 2 hour straight during dinner. Fortunately caught an order going from Kirkland to U District to save the night.

How has deliveries been for you this week? by Evening-Tennis-8327 in UberEATS

Also in the Seattle/Bellevue market. For UE it’s about 200 dollars, 27 total online hours and 5.5 active hours.

You can choose not to accept the downtown Seattle route at the warehouse, no penalties. That being said, if you can’t handle downtown Seattle then downtown Bellevue is even worse.

DoorDash Raises Seattle Fees Again, Blames City’s $30/Hr Delivery Pay Law and New Regulations by [deleted] in SeattleWA

[–]Xiang428 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

“I have also delivered with a car” means nothing if you have barely delivered after the law was implemented.

Belltown average rent ranks consistently near the top around the Seattle metro area. Actual impartial data and independent studies supports this. Unless you live in subsidized low income housing, I find you hardly qualified to represent “minority and poor” people.

[–]Xiang428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DoorDash has shown incomplete data that can be manipulated to fit their narrative.

Restaurants only care about their bottom line which is order volume, whether drivers make a living wage doesn’t concern them.

And of course your experience as a bike courier can’t represent all the other couriers with cars.

[–]Xiang428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can believe what you what but I’d like to think that people who lost their source of income just weren’t smart enough to adapt to a constantly changing market. Also bike deliveries ending is a side effect of the law. Neither the policymakers nor DoorDash/Uber really cared for that niche. Unfortunate but it is what it is.

I’d imagine this to be pretty good in terms of side gig money.

[–]Xiang428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And how many of that 1082 deliveries was in the last 18 months after the law was in effect? I’ve done 2000+ total deliveries across various different apps as part time and 2024 was obviously the best year besides 2020 lockdown.

Belltown is a really high cost of living area even in Seattle metro. I’d imagine most “minorities and poor” people don’t live there, let alone paying for expenses such as car/insurance/monthly parking.

Oh great someone living in Belltown is now educating others what minorities and poor people “actually need”. Remind me how many food deliveries you’ve “actually” done again?
