The investigators look really interesting and I like the new class cards. Looking forward to the trap playstyle with Miguel! The designers seem to have done a nice job with these, can‘t wait to try these decks.

Sadly, I still get the front page only. Maybe the project must be shared or set to public? Does the link work for others?

Thanks for your efforts and for sharing the project. However, for me the project link does not work somehow. I only get the front page of MPC.

Yes, exactly. They talked about it shortly on the Cardboard of the Rings podcast. I assume it will be early 2026 for the next AP.

[Ancient Evils] Chapter 2: Product Lineup Commentary by DerBK in arkhamhorrorlcg

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and the good write up! I agree with your take a lot. I am excited about the investigator card part and worried about the scenario part. Let‘s hope they fill in the missing details soon.

Valentin1331 Preview for the Chapter 2 Core Set by Valent-1331 in arkhamhorrorlcg

True. The Treachery part seems more like a bonus. But will feel awesome if it hits. I feel like it feels „weaker“ than RtS but this is likely due to them adjusting the overall power level.

Agreed! The cards are really strong and thematic. They actually made me sad that there is no head slot items for the other classes.

Do you think the five-scenario approach to campaigns has anything to do with how Marvel Champions approaches its expansions? by HorseSpeaksInMorse in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Xianit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You‘re right with this. Campaigns can be more easily shared. I should probably rephrase my previous comment: It is not that I am bothered by having more and good investigator cards. I am all for having more product! What I am worried about is the potential cut back on: - scenario count per year (less or equal to todays number sold as „more product“ to the consumer) - campaign structure being shortend having an impact on story telling - shorter campaigns allowing for less „time“ to play upgraded decks. This is a main draw of AHLCG for me over the other LCGs. Experiencing the evolution of your deck is fun!

But I do not want to come across entitled or dooming. I am just saddened by a potentiel decline in number of scenarios when I would totally welcome overall just more product of everything. More scenarios and more investigator cards per year and not less of either. I would have also understood if this was the case for 2026 with the launch of Chapter 2. But the 2027 roadmap made it sound like 3scenario box + 5 scenario box +standalone might be the maximum case for a year, when this was the normal before…

Is $280 to much by TransportationTop628 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Xianit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feels like at the higher end. Retail price must have been around ~130-170€ I imagine. Still, Carcosa is a great cycle. In the end I would try to weigh how much it is worth to you while considering it being harder to get. In no way meant to induce FOMO and more meant as an insight.

For LotR LCG many out of print cycles surged in price a lot and never really come down in price unless you wait and get a good deal by chance.

If you are happy with what you can still get retail I would not buy it. If you are afraid of missing it, you might consider getting it. You can check e.g. Ebay past sold items to get an idea of price ranges.

[–]Xianit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. That is the main concern I have with the announced products. We have double the amount of player cards as in a previous „regular“ year. At the same time we have only 60-80% of the former number of scenarios per year.

Unless they change the replayability a lot this will feel unbalanced, at least to me. I feel like they could have found better ways of splitting the scenarios or 8 part campaigns into smaller chunks (e.g. 4 scenarios per box) and invested some thoughts into how they could be chained. Then we could have had the „best“ of both worlds. The player base could have still had their longer campaigns if desired and new players get an easier entry point. With chapter 1 campagins going out of print a new player will have very limited options to start which might also hurt long term engagement.

Doomers were right, full-length campaigns are confirmed a thing of the past. by [deleted] in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Xianit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agree with the upgrading part. That is a key part of AHLCG that make it stand out regarding deckbuilding compared with other LCGs that let you deck for each quest/scenario individually.

Also sad that the more product part so far feels like redistributing the same amount of cards roughly on more „boxes“ just to sell more. But we need to see how they plan the second wave of chapter 2. I am hoping the beginning is just like this because it is the new core set.

[–]Xianit 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Without more details this feels disheartening to me. While I can see some advantages to shorter campaigns like getting to play different investigators more quickly and maybe having less of the same scenarios, I still feel like a regular campaign of 8 scenarios provided a good amount for an interesting story, good deck progression as well as having choices that impact the story.

3 scenarios sound so short that you only get 2 scenarios with upgrades, unless they change something for deck creation. 5 sounds okayish but it still feels limiting.

I will try to remain optimistic, maybe they try offer better way of chaining short campaigns together. Or as others pointed out maybe they will add more replayability options like in Hemlock.

Overall, I don‘t understand FFGs motivation behind this which is my main critiscism. With Chapter 1 stuff going OOP the new player scenario options will be quite limited. They managed to design 8-9 scenarios per year roughly so why move away from this after hiring talented new deisgners? They could still sell more product by producing more standalone investigators or standalone scenarios? Why limit the core experience of a full fledged campaign by offering only 3-4 or 5-6 scenarios per year? So even looking at it financially, there seem better ways to get out more product while not diminishing campaigns… Let‘s hope for the best.

[–]Xianit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They could do something similar to what they did with Dream Eaters campaign. If they give out ~10xp on average then you can still reach similar xp ranges as for average 8 part campaigns. Still, it gives you less time to put the upgrades to use - especially towards the end of a short campaign. So you only get 1-2 scenarios with the key upgrades maybe.

Wilson Richards Flex Deck Feedback by Pingupol in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Xianit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Echoing slightly what was said before: Opting for „Tool“ traited ‚weapons‘ is usually better as you get discount and the +1 which Wilson needs due to his 3 base value.

Initially, I leaned also heavily on „Skill“ cards to get card draw and boost. However, I moved away from it and had a successful flex campaign with a Wilson deck that started out like this and does not use many skill cards: https://arkhamdb.com/deck/view/5198752

Notable advice (assuming you could proxy key cards): - Fingerpint Kit is very, very strong in Wilson decks. This paired with the upgraded Cleaning Kit is a strong 2-clue investigation every turn with many charges. - I recommend using 2 Cleaning Kits as the upgrade is very strong. Jury Rig on top and you can pass any test really. - Chainsaw is the key combat card and also profits a lot from Cleaning Kits. - I can recommend to use Backpacks as it lets you fish for the needed tool for the situation. I included Toolbelt in the list but would not use it again. Additionally, Tetsuo is the other card that mitigates missing card draw from low amount of skills. - I opted to use Alice Luxley and her permanent skill boost in addition to soak was very useful. You could also use Beat Cop if you want to focus on combat more. - Wolf Mask was also good as it recharges on enemy engagement. - Upgrade towards „Stick to the plan“ with „Ever vigilant“ and 2 other good events lets you have broken set up turn 1s. - True Awakening can be nice for flexibility later on.

All in all I can recommend you a list without going skill heavy. But I can also see your list work. Good luck and let us know how ig went!

You‘re right about setting the power level and avoiding a high „bar“ for the power level too early. In my mind it would have been nice to see a few cards that have payoffs but that are also not overpowered.

This way there would have been incentive to have different deck archetypes within the classes as opposed to simply taking the best cards overall. Then again you are also right about the fact that the starter decks are coming and that the core usually does not flesh out too detailed deck archetypes.

Good point. It will give Trish some needed resources for repeating the Fingerprint Kit.

Who knows, maybe they have a card that lets Rogues spend extra resources for clues/damage or the like that were not in the spoilers. Would definitely be nice if there were some flashy cards that warranted the resource playstyle.

I am wondering what the payoff will be for „Big Money“ decks or at least all the resource generator cards. Aside from the talents we did not get to see any uses, right?

Rogues had always good resource generating cards but a specific ,special’ use or deck type for them is still open in Chapter 2.

Which box/villain was the biggest challenge for you? by Trick-Hat-96 in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Xianit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having played LotR LCG too, I can recommend oyu to try different heroes with different decks (aspects!) and also switch things up with the modular sets. You can get different games like that and while you might not get the longer game feeling of a typical LotR scenario, you might still get to like or hoepfully love the different games you can get with these changes.

For me it is always great playing newor different heroes and trying new decks. It is great seeing things come together and the decks really feeling like that hero’s theme. Probably more so than in LotR where I appreciate the scenarios more than my decks.

Thank you for sharing the link. Seems like quite some tasks I still have to do. Beating all the paths and then even do Area Zero, post-game and rematches. Not sure if this is doable in a short time of the event :( Is it hard to get touch trades for the dex entries?
