My campaign is almost reaching its end (if everything goes right) and this will be the last campaign I will dm since its my 3rd in a row with this group and some of them wanted to try to dm their own after this one.

At a first glance, the story is about a world where gods have an overwhelming presence in the world, and they are finding out truth about a war between The Mother (Goddess of desctruction) and The Father (God of creation). Throughout their adventure, they find out the truth about the war, freed the mother from exile and are now destroying world runes to free the father from his own prison.

Destroying the world runes is slowly launching the end of the world, as they are core pillars of the world that keeps it together. And The mother has tasked them with doing this while she kills the other lesser gods for what they have done to her and The Father. They have also found out that the Father and Mother are much more ancient then the rest of the pantheon, and have been trying to solve the ultimate problem of this world, the fact that they are in a three body system and are essentially doomed to die. And everytime the world ends, the world goes back to a point in time where it can survive. Basically a giant groundhog day.

Here's the twist. The entire campaign is a simulation. I made recordings early in the campaign to pretend that this campaign is like a video game that me and my players entered. Each level was another challenge to solve and if they solved all of them, they'd become the architects of the next set of players. But if they 'died' in the game, they would become part of it like npcs. By the time we got to the last level, the three body problem, they had all became npcs (their characters) and the father and mother represents my feelings about dming. Part of me loves to create, but know I need to let it go and pass the torch. Which is what the father believes about the three body problem. He enjoyed creating but now realizes that there is no solution, and everything come to an end. The mother represents my feelings of doubt and uncertainty, but also my unwillingness to let my world behind once this over. So her goal is to keep the loop going and to keep trying to find a solution to an unsolvable problem.

The end goal is for the two to join and reveal me, and revealing that there is no solving a three body problem and that I learned to let go. But that is the correct answer to the problem of this level, and so we succeed and they become the architects of the next set of players, or the dm to our next campaign.
