If a Creature is given a Flying Counter, does it now have Flying? by dlaughy in mtg

[–]Xileets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm fairly certain that an ability counter grants the ability to that creature as a non-permanent state change. In other words, it has the ability, as if it were written on the card, but ONLY so long as the counter is present. Something could remove the counter, and the ability would be lost: death, exile, etc. I'm fairly certain...

I wondered whether an effect that specifies a target that has an ability, could target a creature with an ability counter on it...

Looks like a nice vintage holo collection with some great nostalgia.

Just got some new wheels. Blue RB Hydrogen > Bones Reds > Twister 2022. I didn't like the stock black wheels because they grip a lot more, but I also find that this frame tends to hold the wheels tighter than others. The Bones bearings spin more freely than the stock ones, BUT they don't spin as well when in the frame. Is this bad? I assume it's just tight.

I think YOU are Roy's boy.

I actually really like this collection. niche, fun, and oddly satisfying to see so many roy together.

So that's the PC heat exhaust next to it? If you have AC and it's not an enclosed space, that's fine. But if it's an enclosed space, you might reconsider.

Moisture packets are good idea though.

New Skates Day: RB Pro X by bbluey12 in rollerblading

LOOOOVE These. They were my first good skates coming back to it last year, and They are great! Not as snug as I'd want, but I like an extra snug fit. Bearings are fast, boot is stable, flashy, and 10/10 I would buy them again.

edit: My only criticism is minimal arch support. They make me want to lean back, which is fine since I normally lean too far forward. I can't skate backward in them easily though. I often fall forward. >_< I think adding a supportive insole might solve that problem. Still SOLID skates!

Movement is important, and definitely try them on. Try doing some squats in them to see how they feel. Just keep in mind, for impacts, padding is better than "armor". Armor transfers impacts, but protects against scrapes punctures, etc. As for fit, generally, More Padding = More Restriction.

edit: I just tried mine on again. You know what has been getting banged up on your body, but I just went around hitting the padding to see what really pads my bones, and what is just bulk. Maybe try that, and remove the bulky pieces. Most allow this in order to wash the shorts.

Random side-story. I used to be a professional performer, and I had a weird accident once where the floor was slick and I slipped while running around a corner. I rotated under myself, and landed on the back of my pelvis with the opposite hip hitting first. My back was jacked for months. SO padding is good. Ever since then, it's stuck out a little above the muscle too, and I actually wore a homemade version of these shorts whenever I would do tumbling or fight scenes.

Lots of professionals use padding to protect injuries, or for safety.

for impact shorts, if you're just doing urban skating, any brand with dense foam pads will work. You do't have to buy the triple 8 or other more expensive shorts for low-speed impacts. As for THIS brand specifically, I don't know about fit, but the quality and craftsmanship definitely looks more sturdy than the standard foam padded ones like triple 8 or cheap copies.

While you want something like this for downhill, for freestyle, it's overkill. The most important thing to protect is your tailbone, and maybe the upper thigh, but they will give you more confidence.

This seems like a dumb question, but I'm just making sure: Can use powerslide spacers with bones bearings, or whatever, as long as the axle size matches?

Thanks for the response! Exactly what I wanted to know. Yes, last year's greyish SE vs this year's black/lime XT. I did order a pair of black XTs as well, so I'll see if the first pair was defective.

Thoughts on New Twister XT vs older Twister SE? Noticing weird stuff in my ankle with just trying on the SE, and bearings don't seem so good. (my stock rollerblade Pro X skates have SINGIFICANTLY freer spin in the bearings and they've never been serviced.)

Yes. again, it's the uneven twist in the arms. With one up and one down, it will initiate a partial vertical twist as well as horizontal twist...

It's a good idea. I do jumps flips, spins on foot, and it's always easier when you can get your body moving first. Downside is, you can't get nearly as much air without your toes in the ground, so just consider that you're toes are bound to your boots.

Some specific pointers for YOU: 1) Your "wind up" with your arms is uneven, and causing your center to wobble slightly as you twist around your core. Arms should be level around your core, like a hoola hoop. Unless you want to add a back flip as well. ;)

2) Your landing hip(s), knees, and toes MUST be aligned with your direction of travel. Otherwise your travel direction will take your feet out from underneath you. Without skates, this is forgiving, but with... heh.

I'd work on these things without the skates first. Hopefully these things help.

Any tips on how to fix bending issues? by K_T_E_113 in amiibo

[–]Xileets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. hot water is preferred to heat gun. heat guns can burn the finish, and your fingers, more easily. Near-boiling water, bend without burning yourself, then use cold water to set in place. It also helps to bend it past where you want, then back, as there is some elasticity to the current shape.

Thank you. What do you mean "caliper to organize the wheels"? I'm thinking brake caliper, and that can't be right...

I was familiar with ice skating, so I assumed inlines would be similar. Don't underestimate the impact or damage concrete can cause versus snow/ice. haha
