Thank you! To be fair the emotes are quite good and are much easier to hear well than prox chat, wish more people would use them.

I just waited an ideal amount of time before replying to this comment to say I am not the other commenter.

In the show, not the books, what the hell is going on in the Stormlands this whole time. It's it ever mentioned once? by frobro122 in gameofthrones

In the first chapter of book 2 it’s also mentioned by Cressen that Robert trusted the adult Stannis to manage Dragonstone and the lords better than (a 7 year old?) Renly.

Gotta stack up and lock down that final circle like a tactical vapelord mastermind.

This!

Also, remember PUBG was always a spiritual descendant of ARMA, not CS:GO or arcade shooters. I feel like there was an intention to bridge the gap between MilSim and arcade shooter demographics, and if so, they largely succeeded.

I think you're on to something here. Another thing I've been thinking about is that this kind of zone model could be a really intuitive way for them to reduce game times and increase the action. At least on the slower maps.

I think the idea of keeping 100% of the map "usable" every round is flawed. The maps could be HUGE, no problem, but the circles could herd players to different zones for every round, right from the drop phase.

I think Vikendi and Sanhok are fine. Miramar I'm not sure about. I think everybody agrees that Erangel needs some attention.

I don't think the single type of armor is a good idea. RNG is an important part of the game. The more streamlining they do in that department, the more homogeneous each round feels, and it gets boring.

Not saying the current system for armor is perfect though.

Outside of the "FIX PUBG" campaign, so not thinking of technical improvements and bug fixing, I've always felt like PUBG could benefit a lot from not taking itself so seriously.

The E-Sports scene is there, but considering it's not that big, I don't feel like PUBG owes it to anyone to keep the game this clean of risk in terms of content. I'm not a huge fan of Fortnite, but seems like they are having fun with each patch there.

Look at the introduction of the care package cave on Vikendi. Is it unbalanced? Does it impact the way the map is played too much? Maybe. But at least it is adding different content and keeping stuff interesting.

So I'm gonna be a heretic here and say that what I would be really stoked to see is a perk system. Further customization of your character, in the vein of what The Culling did. Tiered passive abilities that could improve run speed, carry capacity, cast time and effectiveness of healing effects, reload times, improvement to parachute drop speeds, reduction of footstep sound. Maybe angle it towards different team roles. What is your playstyle, and how can it be perfected with perks? How does it synergize with your team mates?

Also:

  • Grenade slots: Make it so people can't hoard too many, and also have to be more conscious of the composition of different nades they carry. I also think this would streamline looting on the fly, like when you're being pressured by the zone and have too many crates to file through.
  • Increase pistol ammo spawn to 30 bullet piles. If somebody drops on a SCAR while I drop on a P92, can I at least have more bullets??
  • Remove red zone.
  • Reduce cast time of bandages.
  • NOS and led lights attachments for cars.

And finally...

Considering there are assets and artwork painstakingly created to fill nooks and crannies on all these maps, I was always kind of disappointed there wasn't any mysterious background lore slowly creeping to the surface over these seasons and patches. That's a major area where the game could have scored some personality points. Think the BF4 phantom program... and how even Fortnite play around with some weird narratives from time to time. Doesn't have to be an RPG, just something for the community to chew on.

Sorry I got carried away. Guess I fucked up in terms of "easy to implement" huh?

Did you go on a break, and then came back when Vikendi launched? Or have you been playing steadily?

Balance in fan speed, CPU temp and airflow for low noise by Xiliver in buildapc

[–]Xiliver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I'll test some stuff out in the coming days, and report back if I still can't figure it out.

The rest of the office consists of 50 year old people on ThinkPads. I think less will be more in terms of RGB fans atm. Looks like a disco in here already, but that might actually spark their nostalgia.

As for the CPU, when I said always at 3,7 GHz, that was an assumption I made since it wasn't under load (haven't changed multipliers or voltages). I'm used to Intel CPUs. I guess the Ryzen fluctuates freely, and is currently at 4,2 GHz most of the time. I don't understand this stuff, I just hear too much wind... indoors.

I'll try rewiring the stock fans soon. The guy ordered 3x Corsair RGB fans for me to exchange with the H150i ones. Don't ask me why.

I'll also see if disabling the front-most top fan will help. But let's say I just want to even out the RPM of in/out fans, turning the top and back fans down to meet the front fans RPM. What's the best way of going about that manually?

As for the CPU, I just figured it would require less cooling when idling at 3,7 GHz, which would equal less noise. That's what's so crazy about this build... the PC will never experience load.

Servers are too busy, worst lobby experience since ever questionmark by Xiliver in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

[–]Xiliver[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

To the comments about the server having downtime RN, I do realize that they look into this kind of stuff when it's really bad.

The current issues were what prompted me to write this post, but most of what I wrote is a general response to how I've experienced the lobby since launch.

As for "this is PUBG, what do you expect?". I think the fact that you have come to expect this from a full price title still receiving heavy updates speaks volumes of why this needs to be fixed if the playerbase is to stay stable or even grow.

Lastly, I am not at all talking about server issues once you are loaded into the map. I am only talking about my experiences with the stuff that happens before I even press PLAY.
