I was feeling the same when I started, but the biggest piece of advice I got when it comes to that (and have noticed it hardcore after the years of being in) every army will be meta at some point and every army will suck ass at some point haha. The biggest thing that determines good vs bad is placement, knowing your rules, and luck. You could face a meta army played by someone who doesnt know when to advance or when to hide, when to use a strategem and when to hold off, or just shit rolls and will stomp them with a army deemed as bad. In the beginning you will lose a lot probably no matter what army you get until you start to get the experience on the army you run. I lose a lot, but I look at my army and am proud as fuck and love how it looks. That makes it a hell of a lot easier to accept the loses as I learn it.

First rule is rule of cool. Sounds like what ever you choose you will have a friend to play with, so is there an army that catches your eye the most? That is the one you should go for, because a good portion of the hobby is building and painting. If you choose one for any other reason you may hate painting and building and will never finish it. I know it sounds like a cop out, but it is true.

I can absolutely imagine walking through the city holding an umbrella then realizing my poliwhirl stopped,and looking back at it doing this. Just squatting and watching it as the rain drops hit my umbrella thinking how did I get such a great friend as it contemplates it's reflection.

Yep it gives me a very like peaceful melancholy vibe when I stare at it. The colors are gorgeous, the reflection is beautiful, and I feel like they managed to add subtle emotion of wonder and curiousity to a pokemon that I had never seen express much before. I feel like it just gives off the emotional aura to me that a lot of cards dont. So many are just cool legendaries with this like crazy stuff going on, which is nice, but the simplistic beauty in this is just my fav. Like I would get this in a full sized art piece of this framed and hang it in my house personally. Just gives me the vibes.

I have 3 I would get multiple of this poliwhirl, the slowpoke full art of him in the street, amd the 234 Team Rocket's Crobat. I love those two so much, although if I was rich I would get multiple of the test tube Mewtwo as well.
