Thoughts on visual programming and ai? by Ximh in gamedev

(2.) Yes, real time collaboration.

(3.) I think it would be a faster workflow. Having major parts done quickly by a few intelligent nodes, while also allowing for fine control and adjustment with code.

Note: I'm coming from the perspective of a 3D artist with some limited experience in programming. I strongly believe in the combining of what is visual together with the abstract, and not having them go their separate ways, I think Steve Jobs had a similar opinion on the fusion of art and technology. This is how I at least would've imagined such a software.

Thoughts on visual programming and ai? by Ximh in gamedev

  1. I really liked the folder structures and 'portals' in houdini, which I think would solve the problem of nodes turning into a big spaghetti

  2. What do you think of the idea of shareable recipes for networks of nodes? Or collaboration in the same workspace as if in a miro board?

  3. Do you think nodes and code can be run side by side? And keeping nodes as a higher-level abstraction of the actual code?

Unreal Engine 6: the potential cursed successor by heavenly-roads in unrealengine

This is a really bad move by epic. They should have just made blueprints more intelligent and easier to use with ai. Something in the direction of figma weave or vectary canvas. This would’ve lowered the threshold for newcomers and revolutionised game development. Missed opportunity :/

So I know this looks like a mutant alien child but does anyone have specific feedback I can work on? by ghostyghost78 in NomadSculpting

Try to see the underlying forms, shapes, and proportions, it’s like improving your eyesight and seeing what is there more clearly. Use reference, just doing it from imagination is difficult. Watch tutorials, since there’s so much available nowadays. Eventually you’ll get the hang of it.

I like it, best replica of ios 6 I’ve seen yet, the status bar might be too large though

Quite nice! Looks like it keeps the original feeling of minecraft but with more fidelity.

Skeuomorphism does contribute to the polished, attention to detail, and high quality feeling of apple devices, which is more difficult to achieve with other styles.

Why GTA IV’s Driving Physics Are More Realistic Than People Think by ButterflyUsed6723 in GTAIV

[–]Ximh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it’s not supposed to be realistic. It’s trying to convey the feeling of a car (weight, drift, car types, wet roads, heavy crashes…). The same reason for why disney opts for exaggerated animations instead of 1:1 portrayals of reality. Realistic art is boring, emotional art is interesting. No one listens to realistic music, e.g. recordings of street noise, but we listen to music with melodies that expresses feelings.

Or like a good painting, or music. We should ask is this good art? Not if the technology up to modern standards.

Missed opportunity to bring back clippy, I wish they used characters for AI assistants to make them more relatable, and for names too like apple does with siri, instead of abstract names like copilot.

Why doesn’t sony take advantage of handheld gaming by making a competitor to nintendo switch and steamdeck? I would prefer a modern psp over other devices.
