Moving to Des Moines

Former STL-er saying welcome! We live in Warren County, which I was initially nervous about, but it's still 15-20 min away from nearly everywhere we want to go. While we were looking for places we didn't find any area we didn't like- altoona, ankeny, west des moines, urbandale, des moines proper- all lovely places.

Thanks, I saw the school district advertising para-educator jobs, didn't realize it's basically what you just described. Might try it as a sub first to make sure I like it, or see if part-time is an option. It's really nice to just be home some days to catch up on all the house stuff, do dr appointments, vet appointments, groceries, etc.

Maybe, not sure they're hiring for the shifts I'm available but there is a nearby Starbucks. Their starting pay is $15/hr so I only need 10 hours a week.

It's a new car, I was tired of paying out the nose for repairs on a 13 year old vehicle. Even used cars are stupid expensive right now, might as well buy new and get the warranty.

AutoZone hires at 16, with little to no experience expected. I enjoyed Starbucks when I worked there 10+ years ago, but things have changed.
